A short film by Ben Gregor and Tim Plester depicting what it could be like if Adam & the Ants circa early 1980s went shopping at their late-night co-op. Notice the store managers name tag reads 'Dirk' and he's wearing white socks. And he just so happens to be played by the real life Gary Tibbs (that's Mackenzie Crook's character for those of you who aren't Antfanatics...)
Hope you enjoy! I certainly do. Supermarket trips have never been the same since I saw this...

This was just lovely. I was laughing out loud when they were doing the Prince Charming on the security camera. Mackenzie Crook playing Gary Tibbs!? Just made me smile.
Was casually enjoying this hilarious video as a fan of Adam & The Ants and every one of these actors, and suddenly realised that this was filmed at my local Co-op... LOL

67pet I just watched this video today and had a great laugh. I've been a Adam Ant fan for a long-time and this is great. Adam Ant should be happy to have someone to portray him in this fashion is brilliant.
I always thought Nick Moran looked like Adam Ant, this is pure genius!!!

No-one's picked up the reference to Diana Fluck ("Diana Fluck to Till 7"). Diana Fluck is Diana Dors' real name and she appeared in the Prince Charming video.

Better late than never, I was checking the comments to see if anyone else had picked up on that. DD was marvellous, lovely to hear this "Tribute" to her.
Don't know where this idea came from but it was fantastic, a real laugh. Hope the real Adam Ant has enjoyed this. Nick Moran certainly did Mr Goddard justice.

Omg, I almost didn't recognize Gary Tibbs in the role of Dirk the Duty Manager. I always thought he was so gorgeous back in the day. Great kick ass bassist too.

I never had a video camera (or friends who could act worth a damn), but my sister and I could both write humor 'til we were exhausted. So we wrote these stories and scripts about The Cars. This was circa 1985, when they were a huge and colorful act, so we sotra transmogrified their onstage personae into actual personalities. If I recall, Ric Ocasek controlled everyone with a Vader-like, telekinetic death grip. I'm sure those pages are SOMEWHERE around here . . . !

Ben Culture You should get them acted out even 5 years later. The Cars are still very much loved, as is the whole New Wave scene. Look how well this was received. Share those ideas and jokes. You never know...

I heard about this, but never got a chance to actually watch it - until now! The only bit that doesn't work for me is the 'quid for the trolley'. Back in 1981 we still had £1 notes.

@@Kelly14UK might be. Might be both, as they are really dressed like the SSS, same hair, same makeup even the net on "degville" 's face. Sputnik's were pretty famous in the 80s, so probably they referenced the "Punks in the supermarket" using the Sputnik's lookalike.

i want to go to a co-op where apart from the Ants in there shopping,we have Sigue Sigue Sputnik just casually stolling by. Yana Ya Ya was there instead of Ray,so maybe he sent them out toget some munchies. Can just see the shopping list, Buy eggs,Buy bread,Buy 7up,Buy big pack of Monster Munch,Buy EMI. :-)

delias89 They wrote certain instrumentals for the skit. Check the two people credited for the original music. They cleverly mimicked one with the Burundi & drum sticks and one more western Adam Ant/Marco style
