I remember sending a postcard to Wim Mertens at Les disques du crépuscule in 1983 with two returning addresses : «At home» and «Not at home», alluding to the titles of Soft Verdict's first vinyl EP. I have been a fan ever since. His album « A man of no fortune and with a name to come» remains one of my all time favorite records. All the best to you Mr Mertens. Salutations amicales de Montréal !

Wim Mertens c’est une découverte un matin d’après réveillon, il y a plus de 30 ans, dans une grande maison de campagne surplombant un cimetière…et cette musique qui réveillait doucement la maison pleine de cette bande de jeunes…
Wim Mertens ne m’a jamais plus quitté.
Respect pour votre œuvre.

Pareil ici. Il y a 20 ans (le Ventre de l'architecte, dans la scène qu'on connaît tous). Dommage qu'il ne se produise jamais en France. Ça me coûte un AR pour la Belgique des frites, de la carbonnade et quelques kilos en plus.

The first track that i listened to was Watch on a radio intoduction for asection program. The second was No Testament. Two pieces so powerfull, animically and creative. I knew since that moment, I would looking for more and more, always could be a greatefull surprice.

Прекрасно, восхитительно, но, пока слушал, не мог избавиться от мысли, сколько же звуков должно звучать по задумке маэстро, если здесь он только дал рамку, каркас своих произведений. В некоторых местах он практически не играл, и лишь обозначал парой нот тему, а я своей голове достраивал звуки большого оркестра. Не спроста Вим бегает по сцене от переполняющих его звуков и чувств - что же мы могли испытать, если бы услышали его все его задумки?

Je viens de le découvrir à 68 ans. J’avais déjà entendu le début d’Iris dans des pubs.
Il tente de remplacer Pettruchiani.

Iris c'était la pub France Télécom, qui nous faisait courir devant la TV , mon frère et moi , comme si on allait le voir !!! C'est un génie , et les versions avec orchestre sont super 👍
