!!!We had to replace this particular FAI pump with an FOMOCO OEM oilpump, due to poor oil pressure build!!!
• Discovery 3 Oil Pump F...
In this episone we show how wechanged our timing belt and oil pump in full detail.
Please note that we did end up changing the FAI oil pump used in this video against a OEM Ford pump. The FAI pump did not perfom well in our opinion. If you want to know what pump we installed, please check out this video:

Hope you enjoy the Video and thanks for watching.

The 2 of you together are brilliant.
Land Rover should have you in their payroll for teaching mechanics specialized in these vehicles. Congrats once again!
This content is marvellous, Christian is a fantastic engineer and Vera is very patient expert who lets Christin complete the tasks, love the vlog from the UK, the humor is perfect for us Brits, keep it up guys.
If Vera and Christian ever become grandparents, their grandkids will be the most blessed children in the world to have grandparents like these two!! I only wish I was so lucky.
What a fantastic couple of human beings
I would never have the confidence to do some of what you do, but still love watching the videos anyway... I watch them for those lovely one-liners that Christian comes out with, he has such a great sense of humour... always entertaining :-)
Another fantastic video. Thank you guys for keeping my Sunday really enjoyable. The attention to detail is incredible.
Excellent as always guys, pure pleasure watching the two of you working happily together .
Amazing! The attention to detail continues to impress. Thank you Vera and Christian.
If we had a Land Rover, I would consider myself very fortunate to have videos by LR Time showing the proper way to keep up our car. Thank you, Christian and Vera, for the time you spend documenting these for very little monetary gain. These are more than entertainment, though. They are craftpeoples' experience, and that makes them valuable.
😊👍Thank you🙋♀️Vera
OMG guys, that was a very nice and detailed video, love that you provide the different bolt torques. Thank you again and stay safe. 🙏
Wonderful video and the level of detail is just unbelievably useful! Both of you are great at what you do!
Great work Christian and Vera, excellent attention to details in priming the oil pump. Good to replace tensioner and belt.
This is by far the best video on an LR3 timing belt replacement I have seen - ever! thank you Christian & Vera. I have replaced timing belts (and chains) in 4 cylinder engines, both north-south engines and east-west mounted engines. I have never let timing belts reach the maximum kilometres set by the manufacturer. I always do them earlier. Timing chains are another matter, I replace them when they get too rattily, though never rattily enough to wear any metal parts on the head or block.
I don't have a diesel engine but if I did, I wouldn't have any worry fixing it. Your videos are truly inspiring and top notch. Thank you!
Such a great video. Thanks Christian and Vara for sharing.
Totally fantastic!! You make it look so easy and enjoyably!! I like this video more than any other!! Thank you!!!!
The best video for timing belt replacement 10 out of 10. Thanks
He’s like a mad scientist of Land Rovers
Christian and Vera omg omg )) weekend’s are always good watching your video and very entertaining as everyone will agree you two make our weekend’s wonderful ,,)))😊🇬🇧
So glad we have a 4.4l V8! Great video!
Hiya , as always , fantastic and informative video , mines due again in early , 2023 , in 2016 , new oil pump , water pump, tensioners, rear fuel belt , Aux belt / timing belt , etc were all replaced , hope ur both keeping safe and well , thk u so much as always for sharing ur vast knowledge and skill set
The best as always. Thank you for the videos
The next Video form the GOAT (Greatest of all Time) of Discovery 3 repairs…. in my opinion. Thank you for all of your great Videos. You will give me the motivation to do the repairs at my Disco by myself… thank you.
Christian & Vera, огромное спасибо за подробные видео по ремонту LR3. Отдельная благодарность за то что всегда говорите о моментах затяжки крепежа.
They are most important. 😃👍🙋♀️Vera
Wow. After 20 years I’ve now found out the spring hose clips can be latched after watch8ng your video. Lol. Thanks Christian.
👍 it took me 10 years. What a secret. Only some of them latch. Unfortunately. Christian
You two are amazing. I wish I had your knowledge and understanding
I just love you guys❤ all the way from BOTSWANA 🇧🇼
Massive well done 👏 for doing this job yourself
love your videos
just wish i had a garage as well and time to play with cars like you two
all the best
Love your videos, so comprehensive and detailed! And great humour 🤪 I was recently going to buy a defender however I’m now considering the D3 I’m just missing a 2 post ramp and a work trench 😅 but the cam belt change wasn’t anywhere as hard as I was expecting!
I applaud your teamwork on this job. It was a very in-depth video with you checking lots of other things along the line for possible replacement. Always good but as you said you always need another part in case you come across one that needs replacement, but sometimes I guess you just have to put it back if still relatively OK & replace it soonest later otherwise you'll end never getting the job finished or your car back on the road again, something like all the kings horses & all the kings men that couldn't put Humpty Dumpty together again scenario :) Won't recommend doing this oneself if you don't have the experience like you have.
Thanks for the new video!!! See you Next Sunday !!
Excellent videos guys thank you for taking the time to make them, you have really helped me with my Landrover discovery 3 TDV6
Another excellent and informative video, thank you both. I'm glad Vera's toothbrush is still being useful 😉. Looking forward to some more omg's next week. Take care you two.
Brilliant as always🙂. Have a lovely Valentines day.👍👍
I would consider use only LR genuine parts for timing belt replacement. I have been disappointed by after market kits using inferior quality parts to save on cost as you demonstrated. Great video with loads of info and detail,
Christian, you mention Australia for the weather but we get temperatures in the mid to high thirties at present. The differences are working with a lot of clothing to sweating all over the place. At least you can go to the beach after working here.
Great detailed work again from the professor and apprentice.
Many thanks from PORTUGAL for all this really nice explanation and also for the wonderful oil pump test video. We follow all your instructions during the timing belt and oil pump replacement on my 2005 Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 with 180M Km. We get the replacement of the original LR (FoMoC) oil pump with no reinforcement to a brand new LR (FoMoC) Pump reinforced. Hope now the Crankshaft will no broke for next 100M Km. :)
The 2005 is quite robust 👍. Christian
I had my timing belt done but my local garage refused to fit the fuel pump belt as 'it is too difficult!" - and if "it goes" no engine damage will result??? (I just have to get a taxi home) I threw my EGR valves away and blanked them off - car ran so much better for years after! Great video guys and well done for the entertainment.
Hi Vera, Christian, thank you very much for this video. Like always very valuable! Since my timing belt was renewed in a workshop I have a little ticking noise, although the car is running. Hope I can find a solution for that. But in general I would like to thank you for your channel. I wouldn‘t own a D3 without you guys. I brought the car in July 2021 for our 6 month trip starting this year in April. I watched all your videos and tried to do all the necessary maintenance with same level of quality like you do, self-explanatory that your level of quality is hardly to reach;-). There were not less situations I wanted to have you as my telephone - Joker or to feel jealous that I am not Fabian:-). We are slowly in final preparations for our 6 month trip and we hope the D3 will be reliable…looking forward seeing more videos. All the best, Maurice
Oh, I must then get that spare part video finished before your trip 😅. 🙋♀️Vera
Amazing as always ❤️ thanks a lot.
Good stuff!! Thanks you two👍
Sunday night would be disappointing if it wasn't for looking forward to another LR time video. Thank you 😊💓
I have a 2011 RRS on which I want to do a complete service..this definitely helps in making the request to the service. At the same time, I realize how little they will probably do in terms of fixing small stuff like you did…oh well, next time I’ll do it :)))
Good job Christian and Vera , my local Land Rover garage won't change your timing belts unless you change the oil pump at the same, like you did , and they only fit Dayco belt & pulley kits . My garage quoted me £950 for this , so you saved yourself a fortune again , and you have piece of mind knowing it has been done properly... take care Graeme
Thanks for your LR TIME. Great video!
Excellent video extremely helpful thank you.
Christian and Vera, what an amazing channel!!! Again, thank you for the fun and the facts. It's really spectacular. I'm kind of overwhelmed to think I have to do all that in my new Disco 3 though :) :) I'd love to, but I don't have the tools, nor the garage... I'll have to rely on the mechanics I have around here. I wish I could service my Disco with you guys!! Considering I can make it from Madrid to Germany driving the LR3 hahahaha ;) ;) Keep it up please! Enjoying this a lot! Love from Madrid! Juan... der Uruguayer (jetzt in Madrid ieeeiii)
Another entertaining video you two! Has inspired me to overhaul my 2.7 TDV6 engine which I’ve now started. Keep up the great videos👍
😳😮😅👍 Good luck, that is a major undertaking. 🙋♀️Vera
What a fabulous couple thank you for your entertaining videos 😃
Great stuff guy’s with humour thrown in
I keep all the plastic protective caps off spark plugs and use 3 of these at the bottom of the crankshaft pulley to hold the cambelt in place, works on most makes and models I work on..
Thank you guys.. very educational 👍👍
Excellent video. I'm glad Christian was able to use one of Speed Karr tips in using Veras toothbrush for technical cleaning. 😅 Worked like a charmed.
Love the videos very informative learning so much keep us all entertained.
Perfect team! Nice job!
Very good informative video thank you both
EXCELLENT JOB 👍
thanks a lot !! that 's my summer job ....
You make this look so easy. I almost broke myself doing this job. But glad I did it! I changed the timing belt in 2020 and the belt was dated 2005
Did it look like the Toyota belt in the video? Lol. And you did verify that you have the reinforcement on the oil pump, right? 😬 Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian I did fit a FOMOCO uprated pump at the same time.
Great video, very entertaining. I was even able to appreciate it as I was sorting my big change jar, separating the quarters from the dimes, nickels, and pennies. I need quarters for the self-serve carwash, practically every day lately. It's been so cold and snowy here in Michigan, they keep salting the roads, and I'm trying to keep my car clean - inside and out - for the first time in my life. I wonder if this type of chit chat is good or bad for the YT algorithm. I only know that you certainly deserve more views. Your videos are the best.
This was the same repair you helped me once in the winter. You had my shop coat on and I know I have a picture somewhere. You held the pipe to tighten the crank bolt. I remember this in detail. Back then, you said that I should teach people how to do this.
Great video with all the necessary details. I have watched it with pen and paper in front of me. Thank you, Christian
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian thank you, too, Vera!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Vera, what kind of sealent din Christian used on the edges of the oil pump? Thanx
@@valentinalexandru2579 We use always this one : dph - proffessional use - temperature resistance up to 340 degrees Celsius - Universal sealant. 👍🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian thank you, Vera!
Another great video. Well done
Awsome timing! I have to do this on my new Disco3 also. :)
thanks it was very useful for me
from Afghanistan
Great job! Your channel is more interesting than the Super Bowl!
very good work you two loverly people
Very very Nice... Thanks friend...
I love your videos keep them coming.....
Great job!
Good info as ever ,thanks
Another cracking video - well done
Thanks grate job👍
Excellent video, (as usual)☺
Just completing this job, I like your crank pulley holding tool, I made one similar using an old large open ended spanner (3/4 Whitworth) and drilled 3 holes in it to bolt through onto the pulley. Then a piece of pipe over the spanner, it worked really well
Good. Hope you did not install the FAI pump. Also watch the newer video where we replaced the pump again. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Thanks, yes watched that video also and ordered the same one as you (PSA) The old pump I removed was the original with no web on the pulley mount!
Very good guide guys... about alternator usually are the 3 diodes which gone faulty... Robbie made a good guide to check them out! Always TOP in the LR world :-))
Will look into this. Thanks. Christian
Evening Vera & Christian. Bit late with this episode as I was busy looking after my who broke her arm and I had to get to work 😩 Love every LR video as it cheers me up with both of your banter 🤣 Fantastic video that’ll help lots of LR owners do a timing belt 🤩 You could just imagine a LR dealership charging for every single part an extortionate price 🙈 Take care as always cheers Stevie 🏴
😳😮 That is terrible, hope she is well soon again. 🙋♀️Vera
This is just 4x4 poetry...already did mine but you do it better. Like the Fred Astaire of Landrovers.
Phew..time for a cup of tea.. and relax.
I have Range Rover Sport 2008.. I believe it is chain driven.. I am up to 98,000 miles.. I was wondering do I change the chain or do the last a long time.
Thank you for such an intriguing video!
the OMG count was just right and enjoy the longer/ more detail vids! But, I really enjoy watching you 2, so my opinion is jaded by my V n C maximal enjoyment levels👍👍For the longest time I was envious of your TDi availability....now, much less so. I love diesel and have a couple, but your motors seem not so goot from design/durability perspective. Perhaps it is the PSA grouppe design parentage wherein the problems started out? I really enjoy a long lecture on origins of various items from Christian! Thanks again for all the fun and information...~ Roger
You may want to check out our videos we did last summer, right before Fabians engine failure, comparing our two Discos. He rambles a lot about those engines. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
come and change my water pump on my freelander1 td4 what a job LOL
thanks for the video
Hi Christen and Vira, I am TOYATO B58 in-line 6 cylinder 3,000cc driver in my BMW 745Le limousine. 2022 LCI model. Your channel is very interesting. It is well produced and highly informative. Personally I can’t believe LANDROVER can build such appalling mechanical engines and get away with asking customers to pay themselves for poorly designed engines. Thank you for making such a brilliant video channel. Wish you both success and happiness together. May be one day you will choose TOYATO engineering🎉🎉
Thanks 🙏
Wonderful instructional video Vera and Christian, you put together good a good product. I'm so tired now from all that work that you got done I need a good night's sleep. Toyota jobs don't have a "degree of difficulty factor", they never break down, just ask any Toyota owner, they'll tell you.
Ok, I see. The scale is more like „seldom or never“. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Yes, this is what I'm led to believe...
Very nice!
YOU ARE THE BEST
When I need some work done on my Disco 3 I'm coming to Germany from Australia!
Well plenty for me to get to grips with after watching this as I have my belt and pump to do. The only pain is having to buy the specialist tool to insert the seal correctly. Interesting that some say 1mm deeper than flush and some say flush. I suppose if it was flush then you wouldn't need a machined tool to set it deeper. Great video with all the necessary details to help me out. Also I was surprised that the gates stuff wasn't up to standard. Thanks again 😁
The FAI Pump comes with the sleeve. Setting it is easy even without a tool. There is a chamfer on the bore and this is why it should be deeper than flush. The 1 mm is out of the Ford manual. Christian
Australia here, umm 32C today. It does get cold in winter, Melbourne, maybe 5C!
Amei vocês também sou mecânico moro no Brasil
OMG infinity Vera and Christian.👌🌈
❤🎉❤ Speechless because of the huge amount of work amazingly adorned with many PPPPP(P) - passion, patience, pride, pledge, professionalism... but I still may not get my hands on the last week offer HSE V6 luxury suv without your resources.
Great video again! I was thinking of doing this my self but this got me to rethink it. :) I don't have the skill level or time so expensive Norwegian garage next. Keep up the good work with your great channel. Best, Simon. 🙂
😃👍 Yeah, Christian has an endless amount of energy. I am not sure where he gets it from. I am done at 8pm. But we had the box already fabricated 2 years ago, so that saved a lot of time. But if we ever want to travel to Scandinavia, he is not going to leave without a diesel heater. 😅 Unfortunately, it won't be this year. Can't wait for your next video.💪🙋♀️Vera
Thanks you two, such a fantastic tutorial, no COWBOYS here which is such a common thing on youtube ! Thanks again and no I havent a range rover but love to see REAL people around the engine bay
love the videos keep it up
You two work well together repairing your landrover it won't be long before you no how every part of the landrover works 😭
Wow! Another excellent video from you guys. I played it over and over about 4 times. You guys are so hilarious. I picked a few catch phrases from the video.
Christian: "Never yell at your wife or else you finish the job on your own." 🤣🤣🤣
Vera: "Our marriage is now compromised because I dropped the alternator." 😂😂😂
Apart from your expertise, I cherish your companionship and the humour between you two. A true sense of love between a couple. I look forward to your next video. Stay safe and remain blessed guys. 🙏🙏🙏
No, I dropped the camera 😅, that is much worse than dropping the alternator. 😂🙋♀️Vera
Another brilliant video from Christian and Vera, Thank you both 👍
We want more Vera !!!!
Amazing
Christian… change your oil pressure gauge live to a ignition live that remains on when starting… looks like it switches off when cranking so you cannot read the pressure until it has stopped cranking, started and ‘booted up’. You don’t know if it’s the boot up time or a real delay in oil pressure building 👍
Yes, good idea. The gauge and sensor is slow. But it did match the noise somewhat. I got a regular shop oil gauge for such situations too. Christian
