You guys are great, there's nothing else like you on YT, the fact that German folk all seem to speak at least some or often very good English is amazing to me compared to how many English folk speak German, you put us all to shame! I love the non stop back and forth humour between Christian and Vera, combined with the high level of technical competence regarding the maintenance and repair matters on the cars and all the great advice you give in a way that's easy to follow and understand, mind you, I'm still hoping for that BR Time episode, heh heh, and with the cheeky humour in this episode I'm more hopeful than ever! Keep up the great work and drive safely friends 🤪
I work 30 y plus in Germany and can tell you most Germans do not speak English at all. Young people more then the older generation.
Rotax 636nut. HERE! HERE! Totally agree with Rotax 636nut
Lot to be said for sticking with a make and knowing many of the faults and fixes, Christian really knows his stuff, top work, he seems to work better with a strict supervisor.
Very entertaining and technical video. Thanks for sharing.
From watching these videos, owning an LR4 is trouble. One could easily end up bankrupt if taken to a dealer for service.
The amount of time, effort, and parts removed just to change an oil pump is insane.
The proof that your videos are excellent myself and others that don’t own a Discovery tune in every week thanks guys for all your hard work you put into them 👍
One could mistake this channel being about Land Rover, but it's actually the biggest Toyota advertisement channel.
Thank god you remembered to remove the socket under the belt !! I was also worried no oil was in the engine as it wasn’t on the video. Your content is brilliant, I love watching your weekly videos, I don’t even own a Landrover but watch every video. Keep up the good work.
You don‘t have to drain the oil🙋♀️
Best repair workshop ever I think JLR should really copy your work ethics and your way of doing things
Absolutely love your videos..Always wanted a Discovery but i haven't got the technical ability you guys have...Keep up the great work and Humor.. A big thumbs up from Liverpool.
Had no idea the oil pump replacement was so complex. Thanks for another educational video.
Quote of the week, "there are two places where you need to feel your way...."😂😂😂
Christian's words of wisdom....'There are two occasions in life where you have to work by feel.....' :-)
Dear Vera & Christian.
You are a “Tower of Strength.!”
What an accomplishment. Thank you and well done.
Best wishes to all.
Great video Landrover Enginering dept where smoking crack the day they designed it
Excellent work as always - well done Christian and Vera. Another good reason for owning a Discovery 3.
Hi guys, had no idea the oil pump replacement was so complex. well done to you both great video.
Yes I'd hate to find out what a German Land Rover stealer would charge for supplying and fitting an oil pump on a Disco 4
No wonder why people neglect these things. To buy one of these you have to understand what you are getting into, Nice vlogs and rovers are always cool
Great episode all of you! Big old job to do the oil pump on the D4 but definitely worth doing it if you don't want a broken crankshaft down the road. Well done Christian that was very informative. I really like those hose clamp pliers, they are a very good design. I was shouting at the screen saying had you removed the small socket out from holding the timing belt to the crankshaft toothed wheel Christian lol. Vera, Land Rover only call it a generator because it seems all these workshop manuals have been designed for the American market. In the US they call the alternator a generator still. In the UK a generator produces DC current, and an alternator produces AC current. I have a downloaded workshop manual for my 2006 supercharged 4.2 Range Rover L322 and that too is all in Yank speak lol generator, fender, rocker panel. And no doubt more! Would hate to have a Disco4 with all that work just to get the fan shroud off lol
Greetings from Norway🇧🇻 Christian should really concider being a full time stand-up comedian. Thank you for entertaining content. Love the german engineering.
Quality workmanship and entertainment always makes me happy watching you 2 making accomplishments that ensure the LandRover collection is beautiful 🤩
Vera, poor Christian. Not only does he have to work by feel but then he has to tell when it is coming!
It wouldn’t be a Discovery without an oil pump issue. Even the Discovery 2 had issues when Land Rover forgot to use threadlock on the oil pump sprocket bolt. When Land Rover fixed mine many years ago, they managed to strip the threads on the sump bolts and tried to charge me to re-tap them until I pointed out it wasn’t my responsibility if they break something else while doing a repair. It was after that I started doing my own repairs as the D2 was out of warranty shortly after. Love this channel.
💪That is the only way to go. 👍🙋♀️Vera
Perfect timing, my new pump has just been delivered! Great videos every week thanks guys 👍
I'm changing the oil pump on my Range Rover (2011 with the 5.0 petrol V8) and it makes your Disco 4 TDV6 oil pump look easy. It's an engine-out job on the Range Rover 🥴
Those hose clamp pliers look pretty handy, so I just ordered a set 👍
Hope this works out. I don’t want to touch an oil pump for a while. 👍 Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Thanks! I don't blame you! 😂
I’m always look forward to watch your video every Sunday. You have more landrover owners coming. I’m predicting maybe in a few years you guys will have an official garage for landrover patrons in Germany
Awesome video as always. "Two times in life you need to go by feel... in the bathroom and working on a Land Rover". That gave me a giggle :)
Not a raincoat - overalls! And nitrile gloves... Phew! what a job, I'm exhausted just watching. For such a short engine it's so cramped. Thoroughly enjoyable viewing, well done!
I love this channel and I don’t even own a Land Rover! I’m addicted! Christian and Vera are so entertaining and I love the humour. They are both so knowledgeable and if I ever decided to sell my Toyota and buy a Land Rover I would buy some tools for the first time and seek advice from this lovely couple! PS I own a Hyundai 😂
Christian and Vera fantastic entertainment and blog just keep them coming))))))) 😂🇬🇧❤️
I was talking to the vid to tell you to take out ‘Steve’s secret bolt’! I’m glad you did. Well done again to all the mechanics on duty. A great team effort. I’ll stick with my D2 V8 thanks. Lol. 👍🏻🙏🦘
You 2 are brilliant Range Rover mechanics, just imagine what life with a Toyota would be like You would have nothing to film 🤣🤣🤣loved it thanks guys. The owner is looking on thinking this is never going to go back together and work again bless him.
Thank you Dr Vera & Dr Christian. Fantastic, as always.
Time for new merchandise, an LRTime Poncho.🤣
😂😂😂👍
Good morning folks will enjoy the video 👍👍💯💯👍
I'm only a few minutes in, and I've already had to pause for breath!
And I've had to pause again!
Glad I have an 25 year old Land cruiser 3ltr Turbo Diesel. I have changed the oil today At 197487 miles. It runs like a swiss grandfather clock.
Thank you guys, for another amazing workshop tutorial. You helped me to decide - I will wait for my body off job to change mine. I’m planning on a complete engine rebuild so it’s on the list of things to replace once the engine is out. All the best. Ty
Body off you still need to remove the radiator cowl so I don’t know what would change only doing the rear timing belt is easier.
That is great Tyrone👍💪🙋♀️Vera
I land in Dresden, and i've got a new LR Time video waiting for me when i get to my hotel room 😁
Life is good 🙌
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Good evening Vera & Christian 😀 That was absolutely fantastic with the best humour so far on a LRT video 🤣 For Vera 😘 x🏴
Great content again Christian and Vera watching these video's does make me rather nervous about my own Diccovery 3 though .
A really good guide on what's involved and just brilliant how you too have a good time with your banter and cheeky remarks
you’ll never get all this “$tuff” back together. this is amazing to say the least. thank gawd there are some old American cars with regular engines
Another great video for us Toyota drivers to watch with a coffee on a wet Sunday. If it's any consolation it looks nearly as complicated to change my 1999 Whatcruiser oil pump given the fact I'd have to remove the sump. I have no idea what the oil pressure is anyway so thankfully I'll never have to do it until the engine goes bang. 😉
Yes, you got some more 750 thousand miles to go until then. Christian
A tip for the 10mil socket timing belt trick:
If you put a bright color string through the socket, you wont forget it.
That is genius. Christian
I was thinking the same. A REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT red tag.
Maybe with the ignition key on the other end of the string !
Just bought a D4! Might send it back for a D3 now I’ve watched this 😂😂. Great video guys. Camera is on order to work out which pump is in the car before I start spilling oil and coolant all over my new drive too! 😅
Thanks for the video.
Sunday would,nt be Sunday without you.....❤❤
Brilliant episode as always.
And Vera is really a good comedian
Had a good laugh
Many thanks
I wish you lived closer to me!
I usually swear a lot when working on LR’s but no bad words from you 😊. Excellent work.
😂He is a very good editor. 👍🙋♀️Vera
Hi my 4x4 is a 1988 Toyota BJ70. No electronics or air bags etc, so saves a lot of problems that the Discovery has.
Really enjoy your barter and instructions that applies to a certain extent to my Toyota BJ70
I am a New Zealander just across the ditch from Australia.
Getting my morning fix of fun with the land rover lovers.Nice T shirt
I am going to have to visit you both just for a coffee and a chat so I can rub shoulders with the guru of all knowledge
And they say us Germans don't have a sense of humor 😂 Haven't laughed so hard in a long time! You guys are great. ❤
I love the channel wars between Germany and Australia!
Thanks for doing all of this! You've managed to help me confirm, that I'm paying someone to do it if I ever need to!
Good job. Like Vera has said, this job will add more life on the engine as the oil pump was replaced at the right time before catastrophic engine failure occurs.
Note the original coolant and boost and inlet hoses have a mark for alignment on their spigots and for the hose clamp alignment so you can get on them and they don’t rub on something else 👍
Oh! "Yours never broke" regarding your discovery 4. That's a relief! I was up half the night last night watching your videos, semi-anxiously trying to learn how to work on these overly-technical beasts, as i have a 2011 d4 sdv6. With 212k kms on it. I do have that knocking sound on a cold start, but only lasts 2-2.5 secs max. Love the videos guys!
With your open-air workshop, I am so glad to see the sun. If I would buy a Discovery 3 or 4 in a weak moment, I guess, I would pay you a visit to help me on repairs, before the vehicle drives me crazy.
😅👍Yeah, we get lots and lots and lots of offers to repair other Discos. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian That's one of the advantages, when driving Series, Defenders and Discoverys. You get in touch with "brothers in mind", you would never meet in any other way. Good luck. Heinz
As a Toyota owner, I don’t know what any of these tools are 😂
Joking! I love the content.
The flexi thing of the ratchet was a cardan joint 😂. Non Toyota drivers use this for hard to access bolts. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Fascinating. I will have to watch more of your videos to learn about this “cardan joint”.
There are two ocassion in life where you have to work by feel....... ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Now I,m changing both turbos on LR4 without body lift....
It's easier on a RHD, there is more room. 🙋♀️Vera
Wow. What an incredible effort. Well done.
What a video ! Hats off to you guys, that was a marathon and a half !
Again you guys do it so well ! Great job just love your t,shirt 😉 Vera's comments just keep you on your game , well done cheers, Sundays wouldn't be the same without LR Time !
Many thanks for this video, very informativ and helpful. And of course many thanks for inspecting my LR3 for the oil pump!
so sorry i nearly missed this as on Sundays evenings i am busy reading the radio amateur news but then i saw it today those hose clamps do really work i have some and yes i liked the video thank you
I was sat watching the video thinking that Vera missed filming the socket under the crank timing pulley coming out but Christian had left it in there. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 Get a Toyota Christian!
Well, with the socket below, the cover don’t fit. Well designed by LR. 😂 Christian
A nice video more complicated on a D4. Thanks for all, have a nice day 👏Nicolas.
So I just got home from a great day out with you guys and a load of other great new friends! Now I'm enjoying another great video done by the pro's super job I'm looking forward to next weeks vid!
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
LOL, I knew you forgot about the little socket trick on the T belt. :)….
This movie is better than Mister Bean! Congratulations Vera & Cristian!
😅🙏🙋♀️Vera
Look forward to your videos and I'm going to buy an INEOS
Wow Christian - both an "oh my god" AND "aluminium"!
More pertinently - what a fantastic video - this work is incredibly impressive.
This LR4 doesn't seem to be designed for easy maintenance - or is it that LR think that one should always take the body off instead? (And would taking the body off make the job that much easier?).
Huge kudos to you and your accomplices.
As always, all the best, and already looking forward to next week...
Wow that looked a pain in the arse well done. 😮I’d love to drive my LR3 with 350k to Germany youse guys would get years of content from my truck. 😅😅😅😅love the channel and cannot wait till next Sunday. ❤
Excellent video... Had to get my LRTime fix even from hospital!!
😳Hope you are alrigth. Get well soon. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera
Excellent! Another brilliantly done procedure, although I was shouting at the screen when you left the support socket behind 😂😂😂
😅
So impressiv, many thanks
You should sell copies of your special tools. Another great job and video by both of you.
Most drawings are offered to our Patrons. We would love to make the tools, but
it's too time consuming right now. 🙋♀️Vera
Crankshaft end bolt it supposed to be done with just 140nm, somebody who installed this pump before clearly does not read engine manual.
It was still OEM. D4 is 150 Nm +90 Deg. Results in about 400 Nm. Christian
6:30 - ёперный балет - I'll never buy Discovery 4 with a such motor))
Good job)
I had a land rover the service I got was not the best and the quality of workmanship was definitely not. I now have a Nissan pickup it has a five year bumper to bumper warranty and mine is four-and-a-half years old they are still replacing parts at no cost to me. Spot on Nissan . This is in the UK.
Love the micky taking out of my boy🤣🤣
Morning both , hope you’ve had a good week
Fantastic, entertaining and educational video as usual. keep up the good work. I'm not sure if it is good to know how to do these jobs, or that it scares the crap out of me knowing that eventually these problems are going to arise on my MY16 D4.
Yeah, we also hope that if people see how intense a job like that is, they don't try it at home, if they don't have the experiene needed for a job like that. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Look at all those hoses on the fan shroud - wow.
😀Yes, none of those are on my Discovery 4. 🙋♀️Vera
Yet another great video, can’t wait till next Sunday 👍👍👍
Yep you guys are superb.
When you retire and decide to take it easy, then and only then you can work on Toyotas. 😊
love your videos so so much and your knowledge and your ramp keep it up
I was getting worried about the Steve piston broke socket too , love this , the only place you can come to hear innuendo's like I broke tool and had to do it twice and this is the hole we are interested in and thats a mechanical orgasm 🤣🤣
Sehr schön detailliertes Video.😀Da hat Reiner ja des gleiche Geburtsjahr wie ich. 😁😉 Ja, manchmal kann es recht Nützlich sein ein gutes Langzeit Gedächtnis wie Vera zu haben. 🥰😘
The classic scaffold pole breaker bar😁
Vera/Christian. Yet another epic 5000 euro repair made to look straightforward and far easier than it actually is. “Wow”… Can you please send me a link to your merch store if you have one thanks👍
www.shirtee.com/de/store/lrtime , for stickers and patches, you would to send me an email. I ship those out. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera
Good job done very interesting to see how difficult these are to work on
I literally was thinking the Steve socket trick - it was inevitable that Christian stated it could be a problem if forgotten and I knew he would forget 😅
Yeah but you can't forget it completely because the cover will not fit properly and you know something is off. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Phew! What a job. No wonder the dealers quote such a high price for replacement. They don't want to do it.
Thanks to Christian and Vera they have many more friends all over the world. Even Australia (weird place).
Haven’t had the chance to do a Disco4 oil pump yet! Looks like a complete pain in the ass! The disco 3 ones are defo easier by the looks of it!
Your videos really challenge the stereotype that Germans don't have a sense of humour. Love em 👍
I was just wondering when are you going to remove that socket from underneath. Funny thing, none remembered in time. Either way, your special tools together with your focus on the job, make these videos worth watching. Congrats!
Great Video and very funny. Well done tackling these jobs at home. 👍👍
Wow what a lot of work, Great video
great
It is so funny. I asked my husband if Christian had removed the socket just before you stated that he forgot. 🤣
😅👍🙋♀️Vera
