The thing with Rolex and Omega divers is that they have the "one watch collection" divers. And with all due respect, the Submariner and Seamaster are masterpieces in their own right, if GS really want to beat them, the best thing to do is to introduce a thinner, more technically advanced diver that's also smaller and a lot more wearable. The day GS releases this watch with a thinner, smaller, more wearable case, Rolex and Omega are done for.
I would agree that a smaller case, in the 42mm range, would be a contender. I may be reaching here, but this is a limited edition, and although high end, a tool watch, a "real" diver. Fashion aside, tool divers had/ have big bezels and cases, maybe that was what they were going for. But no doubt a 42 with this tech and finishing would almost be perfect (always something else on the list), it may even increase in value after purchase.
Nice review Stunning watch all round ,would certainly like to own one.Been wearing a 51 mm watch sla042j1 and going to 47 mm would feel much different. Thanks for posting the video up.
I have the SLGA001, on the wrist for over two months and I've been measuring its timing accuracy. I'm still not able to detect a discrepancy to GPS or network time. Edit: it's more accurate than my quartz electronic watches
I don't agree, first, its a big watch but very wearable wearable as its lightweight titanium, like a Panerai submersible. Second, with the superlative movement and superb Grammar of Design case, the price is more than reasonable.
Collecting watches is something from the heart. GS makes beautiful watches. If I weren't so clumsy, I would have a snow flake. With that being said, no chance I would change my Planet Ocean or my Deepsea for any of these watches. It is just a matter of taste. That is it. Great video.
When the sbga231 shrinks a bit and loses that bulky clasp I'll get one. Meanwhile I'll keep enjoying my snowflake and my 9F GMT. If they had a version without date that would be even better! Great vid
Not my thing, impressive anyway how they developed it, great shapes, incredible specs... the best your video, way of explaining, I really relaxed looking at it. Very very nice videos, enjoying them so much. Keep doing this. Congrats
The SBGH257/255 was the first professional dive watch by Grand Seiko, essentially the same watch but with a much nicer dial and a proper high beat movement .
Very aggressive styling (reminds me of some Japanese superbikes, Suzuki Katana for example) & impeccable finish (excellent camera work) but just too damn big - & I like big watches as I'm older and eyes are rapidly deteriorating. Appreciate that it's GS' halo product, but the name still doesn't have the brand cashe as Omega or Rolex, tho caters for a more niche market as you said- spring drive has its own unique appeal. For me, I'd go for an Omega as I'm more traditional. Interesting watch, great review. Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Great camerawork and commentary! This is GS's halo dive model - their tour de force. It is the best dive watch on the market. It's a tiny production number and finally takes over from the Seiko MM1000 SBEX03 (et al) as Seiko Corp's ultimate prestige dive watch (itself not the prettiest thing, but a veritable kraken!). But when Seiko say 'pro dive watch' they mean it. This is not some Swiss toy! This range topping leviathan will usher in the next generation of GS divers, which will culminate in more wearable, casual models I'm sure. We must remember, GS has no long history of dive watches (unlike Seiko), so must develop their own grammar of design, not just knock out a more refined 62MAS (that we all want!). And yes, for me too, the MM300 remains the all-round king, but the Tuna is the best pure dive watch ever made and for me, one of the greatest sports watch designs of all time (along with the Reverso, Speedy Pro and Oyster, FWIW!).
That movement is absolutely beautiful 🤩...Shit looks poetic. Makes my Samurai look like a white belt karate student (see what I did there 😏)...Seriously tho, even at 47mm this massive beast is gorgeous.
GS divers always got almost every parts of the watch so perfect for me except its clasp and buckle, I really want them to learn how other watch companies like IWC, Rolex, and Glashutte original do it.
Hey Andrei, it is an amazing tool watch, probably a better quality watch than Rolex and Omega. For me it is a Niche product that I'm not part of. I would take the MarineMaster any day, just my thoughts. Salutari.
It’s nonetheless an interesting addition to the GS Divers, but The Omega SMP is very hard to beat. Maybe after JC Biver positions GS in a big franchise, like James Bond and Omega.
I agree value wise rolex can’t even come close if they assembled and finished primarily by hand like GS the prices would be even more astronomical than they already are. I’m admittedly a Seiko fan but I’ve had the privilege of owning both a Rolex deep sea black and a SBGA229 and visually the grand seiko is much more appealing and eye catching so I eventually sold it and kept the GS diver which I could have bought about 4 for the price of a Rolex not to mention the accuracy of a spring drive makes a chronometer look inaccurate since that release in 1998 the Swiss still haven’t cAught up. The dials are crazy rolex is boring the finishing is much better and Seiko’s lume if the best in the world Besides that I just don’t like the way the brand allows their ADs to sell their product and they are exclusive but not GS. That new movement mid very impressive I have almost 8 inch wrists so wearing this wouldn’t be a problem especially being titanium but this would be dynamite in a smaller size I hope they do it
You want 600m and professional diver????? the case is going to have to be big. This is not a design or trend question, but a functional need. I like big watches and believe 42mm is best size. We are men, we are suppose to like big strong loud things and the masculine trend of the 70s, 80s, 90s was to bigger watches for better visibility, strength, power reserves, increased water resistance, and functions. Now because of modern media brainwashing for feminist liberal trends everything is for less masculinity and modern men are falling for it and wanting smaller watches again that they think "fit better on small wrist" or is not so "visible/big and loud". But it ends up looking like dainty sweetness instead of confident power. Let children, women, and effeminate men wear 38mm watches. Men wear 40 and up, no matter the wrist size.
I am a simple man, I see watches, I see this channel, I press play.
And subscribe 😂
@@BraveBeaters Careful now, this means more complexity to the table :))

My man! I am starting to look forward to my Friday evenings: getting home and enjoying these quality videos of yours. Top class mate. Thank you 👍
Thank you :)
I love that seiko has so many different case shapes.
creative guys :D
A very informative and pleasant review. I hope to own a Spring Drive someday - what a beautiful watch! Thanks very much!
Great presentation and great shots!!
Superb video, also with this cool music in the background 👍👍👍
It's a stunner, but a whopper too! 47mm !!?! A great video. Loved the bubbles :D
Well done. Love seeing this watch getting some attention
I am picking one up soon - it is AMAZING in person :) Thanks for your review.
I think my ultimate dream watch would be a grand seiko rendition of skx009. I would buy that in a heartbeat!

@@BraveBeaters Amen
You must be kidding me LOL maybe Rolex, not way Omega is done. Seamaster for the price kills everything.

Another great video Andrei. That King Seiko is stunning 😍 I’ve been looking for one 🤫 keep up the great work my friend!

GS makes quality and innovative watches, I would vote this over Rolex and omega. Nice vid with thanks
Beautiful closeups. Thank you for capturing it.
I'm baffled as to what GS are thinking with the size of their sports watches. I would definitely be buying a 40mm diver if they ever make one.
Get the 62mas remake, spb147 or 143
I’ve got a few but one of my favs is the SBGE257… 40mm gmt and 200m WR :)
@@Montres_tempus
I've tried that one on it wears like a dream. If it had been a 3 hander I would have bought it. An excellent piece.
@@simonwright6882 Im not sure I follow you? It definitely has a second, minute, hour and gmt hand.
@@Montres_tempus

How do you like the strap?
@@eijiroinouye4115 I like the silicone one especially, it's very suple. The Ti one is also pretty good although a bit chinzy.
@nathancortes3722 OK 👍. The helium seals are great and the watch could be worn daily
Seiko loves sizing and pricing themselves out of the conversation.
I don't agree, first, its a big watch but very wearable wearable as its lightweight titanium, like a Panerai submersible. Second, with the superlative movement and superb Grammar of Design case, the price is more than reasonable.

Sorry, you lost me at 47mm,,
sheer perfection, but just too big,,
yup, Panerai sizing :)
@@BraveBeaters I used to love Panerai. I now hate Panerai
That KS...😍Beautiful!!!
The GS...far too big for my 7 inches wrist, but nice as well.
Great video!
That KS in flesh, is a killer watch!
I bought the GS… it is fabulous and not too big (though I come from the worlds of the “tuna can” and Panerai.). The camera doesn’t do it justice.

2nd GS Professional Diver. First was SBGH255 & 257.
True, however I think they were launched in the same time.
@@BraveBeaters They were launch together in August 2017 after GS go independent as a brand.
I'm eager to see Seiko's new 9SA5 caliber in a diver. That'll really ramp up the competition between them and Omega, Rolex, Breitling et al.
Not my thing, impressive anyway how they developed it, great shapes, incredible specs... the best your video, way of explaining, I really relaxed looking at it. Very very nice videos, enjoying them so much. Keep doing this. Congrats

One hell of a watch and it'd probably get my vote over the rolex and omega equivalent.
Same here :D
The SBGH257/255 was the first professional dive watch by Grand Seiko, essentially the same watch but with a much nicer dial and a proper high beat movement .
The Marine Master 300 is Grand Seiko's best Diver!
Agree with you 100%!
Think I preferred the little seiko at the start
Great review! No doubt Grand Seiko will soon release an iconic diver! No doubt 😉
Maybe a 41 mm version. or 52 mm :)))
@@BraveBeaters they will eventually catch on lol

Absolutely loved it you done a great job thank you would love to see more about psycho
When Swiss made Rolex, Omega diver watch is 40mm~42mm
Why Seiko make the watch 44mm? It's huge
Amazing! 👍🏻
I would choose a Rolex Sub over the GS, however I cant get a new one, so for me ita either a Omega PO or the GS SBGA229
