      Their '73 MSG concerts were okay. They performed way better in New York in 77. Plant's voice was in much better shape and the set list, I think, was far better.

    Someone mentioned this a few comments ago but when you think about how young they were when they were playing this song it is amazing! Robert Plant, only 20 or 21 at this time, sings like a man who has already lived a whole lifetime of emotions. He has that bluesy tone that has carried him through the decades. I am really enjoying watching your reaction to these Led Zeppelin songs that so many of us love and grew up with.

    If you feel like floating down a river with your eyes closed you listen to Pink Floyd but if you feel like tearing the New York City phone book in half you listen to Zeppelin!! By far my two favorite bands!

  • @henriettaskolnick4445
    @henriettaskolnick4445 3 года назад +9

    Led Zeppelin was known for improvising when playing live; no song was played live the same way twice, so, with that being said, when you get a chance, react to the version of this song from Madison Square Garden - it is *28 minutes long* but worth it!! It is a mini concert all by itself.

      I can second that because I saw them sooo many times back in the 70's and yeah, every night they would play their songs a little bit different from the night before. One of my favorite bands of all times "Legends"

    I've watched hundreds of reactions to Zeppelin songs I've heard thousands of times. I stopped because as the reaction videos became popular, the reactions became fake, or the reactors tried to act like they knew something when it was obvious they were oblivious. and various other reasons. I'm sure your videos were recommended to me, but I ignored them for those reasons. Big Mistake on my part. This is awesome to see such heartfelt reactions. Just started my journey of watching your journey into the rabbit hole, and am so excited. Almost like hearing them again for the first time after 40+ years. And will definitely be checking out your Floyd and Rush stuff, too.
    There are certain tells you can see if you've watched enough reaction videos whether or not the reactor is the genuine article. And you, my friend, are the genuine article. Please remain the same.

  • @27thangel23
    @27thangel23 3 года назад +6

    Great tune, great reaction. With the early videos (this one, Radio Danmark) you can see them settling into their main influences... for Jimmy Page, it was Jeff Beck; for JPJ it's every blues bassist that ever existed; for Bonzo- pure jazz; for Robert... voice style: Janis Joplin, look/ appearance: on his way to Roger Daltrey of The Who- see the hair getting blonder but the curls not yet tamed, soon the open- shirt flaunting sexuality attained to perfection in 1973 (Robert 24). Fun to see. Nice goin', Pop (how else can I shorten your name?). BTW the Blues labels it 'call and response' (Jimmy guitar/ Robert scream) but I think that the 'tall forehead' folk call it a colloquy. And it was a cello bow. LOVE that you enjoy them so much! Be safe, man.

    The longer video version from 73 has some cuts so it's not one continuous version but they jump a little bit from night to night in the movie. At the same time the bow solo does not have the fingernails on the chalkboard part and as much more mature melodic, but that's not why to watch it. For about 8 minutes after that it is the most stunning performance you'll ever see, the energy levels are off the charts.

    Jimmy Page was originally with the group Yard Birds which had several hits prior to Len Zepplin. Prior to the formation of the group the term "Led Zeppelin" was something that flopped. The expression was; "Their performance went over like a Led Zeppelin." I think the album came out in 1969. I think their first version of the song was performed with the Yard Birds.

    When you hear Jimmy Page going off the deep end and you fall with him you know you have made it to the edge of the universe, to come back and live to tell the tale, except nobody tells the tale. Nobody. Because by then, there is no tale to tell. I particularly enjoy 6:35 this moment of your wonderful reaction, it would be remiss of me to not commend such enthusiasm, which I hereby do in this statement, lest us be deceived by thine own eye so it stands in eternity for ever more Amen etcetera etcetera.

    They were called by the press….the New Yardbirds when the band formed in 1969…..because of Jimmy Page presence in the new group….then the first album was released and officially they were called Led Zeppelin…Keith Moon…The Who’s flamboyant drummer once famous said in a interview…..that’s a perfect name for them because they will crash and burn and will not be anything else but a disaster……If he was serious, half joking or had too much to drink…no one knows for sure……
