      If I were in the live chat, I would've asked Danya how he found it so quickly. I assume he's not considering on every single move whether a queen can be trapped. In puzzles and in tactics, we look for checks, captures, threats, which would've revealed it eventually. Maybe it was the move ... d6, he naturally realizes through practice what that move does. Well it weakens c6 and e6, but that's not immediately relevant. It also restricts the queens movement. Hey wait, queen can't go horizontally, nor backwards. It has just one square, and the move Bg5 attacks the queen and takes that square away. So maybe that's how he found it so quickly. That's what we all need to try doing!

    Two valuable things for beginner me… empty threats like N-c5 don’t only waste time but can also help my opponent (black queen moves back then black c6 chasing knight away while even prepping their d5 for later) and not evaluating king safety based on context - my material gain, opponent’s attacking options, my own other moves, etc. 🙏

    Nobody from levels 1000 to 2000 resigns anymore even if you're mating them and you're up 12 points worth of material because they think they'll have some chance at a stalemate trick. It's the Eric Rosen effect, and I've also noticed that the guys who don't resign are also the ones who slow roll/rage quit like this guy did.

    The position may still be lost if black plays Nc6 or Ng6 after d4, but it is also close to the draw margin in engine games. However, after Qh4 or Qf6 as played in the game, SF gives it an over +2.5 advantage. This seems to be because the king wants to go to g1 anyway and the h1 rook can develop vertically after white plays h4 in some positions. Also, as seen in the game, the Queen's position on f6 becomes a little wonky.

    Bxf2 or sacs on that square are often so dumb. Like people do it and it just gives up a peice then they think they'll win because you can't castle not realising that the king is perfectly safe. Of course the tactic when a Bishop pins your Knight to the queen and you take on f2 or f7 bishop check to then check with the Knight and win back the Bishop pinning the Knight then that makes sense but I've won a lot of games because of people just sacking there for no reason and with no follow up.
    I know the guy didn't give up a peice he was losing the peice anyway but I just mean in general what Danyas talking about makes perfect sense

    Hi Daniel, I really appreciate these videos. im currently on the videos around 1100-1200 right now. But i wanted to stop in and say these are helping me tremendously. i beat 2 1300's yesterday using your advice! However im currently experiencing a wall where I have time struggles playing my 10 min games with no increment. I dont want to play 15 - 10 as its way too long sometimes to get enough games in to review and learn from experience. I did hit 2200 yesterday also in tactics!
    Do you have any advice for my time struggles? I am usually in a very good position or up material and then my time management gets to me. I tried maybe playing my early development quicker but that has lead me to fall for too many tactics and then the other person is up 1-2 pawns and I cant come back or I think too long and am usually 3 min behind and we get to end game with maybe 1-2 pieces left and I hit under 1 min mark and flag.
    I know it comes with practice and time. Just curious if you had any other advice to offer.
    thanks again for these amazing videos on my way to the next video on the playlist!
    (ps thanks for making it a playlist in order! so easy to find what i'm looking for on your channel.)

      Playing two 15|10 games will be at least as beneficial as three or four 10|0 games, as long as you’re analysing properly afterwards, and actually taking your time in the games.
      In fact, most titled players recommend 15|10 as the slowest time control you should play if you want to improve

    • @chrisbeaudoin9818
      @chrisbeaudoin9818 2 года назад +1

      What the guy above said is definitely true but i'd strongly recommend playing at least a little bit of blitz to get used to making more intuitive moves quicker. I've had friends who only play rapid try to play blitz and it is funny watching them panic the whole time because they just aren't used to it.
      Also helps with making moves that aren't necessarily the best but aren't bad or damaging to your position, just simple moves that respond to all threats. At a higher level you can't get away with stuff like that as easily but while improving it's super useful.

      Sacking the bishop of a Q+B battery on h3/h6 is a common pattern; you get two pawns for the piece, but the king is very exposed. -- Seeing how forkable black's pieces are is somethimg you'd have to manually evaluate.
