I play this a lot and Black goes g6 99% of the time since Kf8 will just let us take the bishop with check (so it seems bad), but playing g6 is actually even worse, just a nice little trick I thought I'd share. Position is slightly above +1 if you just take the bishop straight away, but if you induce g6 first then take its like +2.6 since it leaves their rook very vulnerable.
I was going to comment the same, this plays a huge importance in this gambit because of the rare Pawn b2 - capture with bishop now opens up h8 square, and same for q.c5 - q.c3. I love this gambit and I'm learning more about it every day, it's amazing.
I disagree. I think Kf8 is the better move for black, since after 7 … Ke8? 8 Qc5 Qe7 9 Qe7 Ne7 10 Nc3 d5 11 ed5 Nb4 there is Dzindzi’s 12 Bg5! Nc2 13 Kd2 Na1 14 Re1 winning. From the book Chess Openings for White Explained.

Opening tip: If you are a player rated lower than 1600, there is a good chance that your opponent will play the anti-fried liver by playing h6. The tip is, play d4 and when they take the pawn, castle. If they play bc5 after you castle play c3 and you’re in a Haxo Gambit position but you are castled and your opponent wasted a temp by playing h6. Here are the move orders: 1. E4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3.
