im gonna be honest here. this is probably one of if not the best foam clone trooper helmets i have seen on youtube. looks exactly like clone wars stuff. awesome job
That warms my heart, man. Thank you so much for the kind words
Doing a female version of Rex. I know i'm gonna get a little backlash cause of toxic men in our fandom, but I've always loved Rex so I decided to just do it. This video helped me a lot!
Don't listen to the haters! Do the thing!
@@FoamArmoryProps Just cut out all the pattern pieces, trying to figure out how they go together! I'm really excited!
This man needs more than just 900 hundred subs this man needs like 10k maybe even 100k this is by far the best templated rex helmet
can you show yourself building it i cant figure out some areas also thanks for making the templates free
DUDE! Those are amazing templates! 9:34 could not agree more. One of the reasons I've been holding off on making one. Lots of templates online, but the end result tends to look a bit off. Your videos are getting better and better. Quick question: where do you get your templates? Do you 3D model them yourself?
Thank you so much! It's honestly a bit of both. Some of these are collaborative efforts, some models are edited by me, and some are me top to bottom, modelling and/or hand drafting
I have a few small problems,(1) I dont know where any of the pieces go and (2) when I look at the model in the video it looks like there are parts that aren't in the template, like extra cuts or something, you should upload a video for a step-by-step build
thx
I also agree with this but after looking at the templates a little closer I’ve noticed that some of the pieces you have to double yourself. So maybe once you cut the paper template out and piece them together then you can get the full affect of the helmet and then transfer it onto foam. I’m going to try this temple out tomorrow so I’ll let you know if it’s right or not. ☺️

@@emmabennett6399 your right I did it a while back, thx tho
⚠️⚠️⚠️ please respond to me i have watched this 100 times lol so question #1 how do you get the accurate scale on the printing? #2 what was the thing you used for the visor? #3 whats the foam you used?
Started my Rex cosplay build for a up and coming event, and I gotta say using your video and the free template the helmet has turned out fantastic! Never used foam or even built anything like this before but I am super stoked on it ! Now on to getting it painted and building the rest of the armour 🤙🏻
Glad to hear you're having an easy go of integrating these templates! Be sure to send us some finished pics
Damn dude this is sick!
Hi is it just 10 paper or is there more? Because im missing a lot of pieces and im not sure why! Otherwise the video was very helpful 😊
Oh yeah keep up the fantastic work
Awesome build will have to give this a try when I'm able to get more eva foam😁😁😁
Oh my gosh, PLEASE! I love seeing people give these a go
@@FoamArmoryPropsI have been following along but how do I assemble the pieces 😭🥺
dude you should make the ark trooper with templates please
Awesome build man! It turned out great :) I subbed
Thanks to much, Sir. I'd love to collaborate with you on a future build, or maybe even a craft off. Let me know!
Yess! That would be awesome!
Fantastic
And subscribe👌.
All I really wanna make is a plain “phase 1” clone wars helmet. Could you do that?🙂
I actually have templates out already on our OOPS! All Troopers video. No build guide though... yet 😉
What did you use for the visor?
can you make asokas clone trooper helmet
hey, i know this was uploaded a while ago, but on some pieces did you cut into the side of the foam at an angle to get them to slot together so the edge is just one seam, like the pepakura model? your seams look like this in the video but i’m stuck whether or not i should bevel pieces
How dense is the foam you are using? Would such a build be possible with 100kg density EVA? If its too dense, could i use thinner sheets to balance it? I dont want my helmet to have a squishy, bendy feel.
Can someone give me link for the foam, used for this helmet? 🙏🙏🙏
I can't find the piece that goes under the mouth grill :( anyone know which one it is?
Awesome build. Definitely trying this out. Question. Can I add mod podge over the plastidip?
Great question! Due to the slightly hydrophobic nature of spray on rubber, it tends not to coat as evenly OVER plastidip as it does UNDER it
Hey could you make an updated template where the parts are identified pls?
Hello there! I've actually updated these patterns with part names in both the pdf and pdo versions. If that doesn't get you where you want to go, I suggest downloading pepakura and viewing the pdo file directly!
@@FoamArmoryProps thx
Hi Jayden, great work!!! Can I ask you justa a simple thing? I just bought the printable file on Etsy (thanks a lot!) but I have a doubt: what is the meaning of different lines signs? Wht's the difference between line-line or line-dot-line? I understood that this mean something about eva's folding, but I cannot find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance!
Where did you find instructions for putting together the pieces because I know I’m going to have a very hard time figuring out what goes where
Hey there, @Art9_69 6 I've updated these patterns with part names in both the pdf and pdo versions. If that doesn't get you where you want to go, I suggest downloading pepakura and viewing the pdo file directly!
For what it's worth, I drafted these patterns myself in Pepakura designer
I also removed the texture file form the pdf templates, so now it shouldn't eat all your ink
@@FoamArmoryProps thanks 🙏 🙏 so much
@@FoamArmoryProps thx very helpful
When you were talking about the lateral darts vs. the straight darts was this part of a pepakura function or did you come up with this yourself?
Can you make a long step by step video? I am so confused 😂
Hey there! Any chance I can help clear things up?
I know dude, I cut all the pieces and I dont know where any fo them go
@@self-taughtpianist1517 have you tried opening the .pdo file? It includes a full 3d reference 😀
Is there a certain application I need, in order to open it? Cuz I t won’t let me see it
@@self-taughtpianist1517 the program is called pepakura, and it's free to use!
Should I use the Etsy templates instead? Are they better? Also what head circumference is the 100% scale of the helmet set to? Thanks!
This will be my first helmet build I hope it goes well
Good luck! Let us know if we can help you at all
@@FoamArmoryProps yeah the instructions weren’t clear on where the rebreather goes and how to make the tubes look like tubes
@@tonk4184 I see! So, I might need a little clarifaction on your question regarding the rebreather, but as for the tube, the good news is, the opposing curves of the bands creat the tube shape when heated and glued against one another. If you're ever unsure of how pieces fit together, I always highly recommend opening the .pdo files using pepakura. It's free software that let's you view that 3d model on virtual any spec computer!
@@FoamArmoryProps I’m viewing the 3D model and I don’t see how the rebreather goes on. The shape of the template makes it hard to see what it’s supposed to be
@@tonk4184 ruclips.net/video/_8mhaDhuctE/видео.html
Hello, I know you’re probably not gonna reply to the comments on this video that much anymore but it would help me a lot if you could make a video of you putting all the pieces of the templates together because for a few parts, I don’t know where they go and how to put them on and I think you should’ve labeled everything on the template so I know where they go because I do not know how to put any of these together except for a few
Hey there, Ratlord. I'm not so active these days, but I highly recommend using pepakura to identify the parts. The 3d to 2d reference is built in, and it is the easiest way to build and refer to templates like these.
@@FoamArmoryProps ok thank you but where do I find your Rex design on pepakura?
@@CC-7567-REX the free .pdo files can be opened with Pepakura. No problem.
@@FoamArmoryProps thank you
@@FoamArmoryProps hey man I’m gonna be honest with you. The website with the 3-D model is in much help because it won’t let me view it and I’m kind of stuck right now cause I don’t know where to put half of the stuff on the helmet all I have is the dome in the visor done is there anyway you could help me or make a video of you putting one together because I don’t know how to put the rebreather on right and half of the stuff it’s very difficult when you don’t know how to put half the stuff on please please make a video. I’d appreciate it so much.
With watch material is the visor I don’t find it
can you make a clone commando helmet

Hi what is the size of the helmet?
what scale do i have to print it for a 22 cm head
How many plastidip cans did you use in total? It appears you used 7, am I reading the materials list correctly?
Just the one can! I buy them in packs of 6
How do i scale the Helmet?
I want to make this but am wondering how many foam boards to get and how big they should be
I used about half a 24" x 60" roll of 6 mm foam for this one.
What degree angle did you bevel cut on the helmet.
Lol, which cut?
Cause I was looking at the pattern and I found a dotted line. Am I supposed to bevil it or cut it?
@@spideyproductionz that depends on which line you're referring to, I'm afraid.
Can you make the second sister plsssssssss I need the temple
amazing work! One question, what density is the rubber you used? medium or high?
Thanks Alan! Are you referring to the foam sheet I used? It's a slightly softer foam from Michael's craft stores
@@FoamArmoryProps I saw that, but do you have any idea what density it is? If it is high density? Why look for the store and I could not find it
They do not list a density, but I wold say medium. It's definitely softer than HD foam
I’m so confused on the rebreather
Hey there! Any way we can help you out with this?
@@FoamArmoryProps I think I’m especially having trouble with how the top pieces of the rebreather connect to the face and bottom pieces
Well, I bet we can probably help sort things out. Care to message us over on our Facebook page at facebook.com/foamarmory ?
Could this be done with cardboard?
Definitely! You'll just need to put a little bit more elbow grease into rounding over your parts
Do you think this could work with Cardboard? My heat gun just broke.
I've definitely seen people succeed using cardboard with my patterns. Just be prepared to trim some pieces to fit
is it wearable?
It sure is!
What is the thickness of the foam?
He said 6mm but I'm using 5mm
What thickness of foam do you use I have the templates printed
Hey there! We built this entire piece using almost exclusively 6mm sheets
