As someone that has been culling now for 3+ years after moving and downsizing, I can totally appreciate your position - it gets out of hand quickly. Even for my original copy of Secrets of the Lost Tomb, I had to put it in a smaller box as the original box was too EPIC for my shelves. Given your opinion on the original, I appreciate you taking the time to make this video on Day 0 and I totally agree it's great that it'll be back in print!
As a person from Lower Left Canada, I love your cap. Thank you for the video! I currently have the base game and ONE expansion. I have decided to go all in since the BIG storage box can hold the base game and ALL 16 expansions & fit in a Kallax shelf spot.
I've been following your channel for a while now, and really enjoy the content. I have gotten into a couple of solo and other "dungeon-diving" games that have been great thanks to your recs. I still haven't tried my hand at solo TTRPG'ing, but the itch is there.... Anyway, I can't think of a better reason to pledge for this game than your high praise.
As someone who has most of the original content I concur. Great that other people can get hold of this really great game but I wont be backing it because I can’t afford the price for a game that I already have. The cranky presentation of the original just feeds into the crazy pulp nature of the game for me. I’m going to be the SOTLT version the old grognard who only plays AD&D 1st edition 🙂. I hope its a super successful campaign!
It looks like expansions will not be available later on, but that the game is going standees instead of miniatures with a storage box so it might be more compact.
Unlike you, I will be getting everything. I already have the KS and first square box of this and all the expansions. Everything Epic had intended to try to keep the game and expansions in print back then, but things just didn’t work out. The changes to the ARMs are a big improvement. And there will be twice the scenarios with the new expansions. The main reason it isn’t compatible is the character sheet and ARM changes. The tile changes are mostly cosmetic, but there could be fixes for some tiles. There are scenario fixes as well, and certain expansions needed work. To print all of that would essentially replace large swathes of the game, including the rule books, the punch boards, all the cards. Which basically adds up to the entire game-mostly art improvements, but you can’t just replace 1 tile to fix one tile with a problem, you have to replace all the tiles at once due to design changes. One change to one card requires replacing all the cards of that type, etc. Hopefully enough copies will be sold to justify either a larger print run for the game or later printings of game and expansions. This is the game that put Everything Epic on the radar of gamers, so it should get a lot of love. And the current fans have spoken that they don’t want to see widespread changes, just a reprint with selected improvements and new scenarios.
I had that at one time. Did a video on the art. Sold it because it just doesn't play solo, and it's not an adventure game at all. It's really a pretty hardcore war game, with awesome theme. :) But I'm super happy for people who want it!
Thanks to you, I've heard about this game and am going to back it. There's no way I can go all in though... I just don't have the time or space for 400 expansions, as much as I may want to lol
Dan, have you given your thoughts anywhere about which expansions you think are the best bang for your buck? Would love to know for those of us who might want to just get a couple expansions to flesh out the game. Thanks
I only know about the original expansions. I know nothing about any of the new expansions. I like them all, but I if I were being picky I'd focus on the ones that come with new missions.
Glad this is back in print! Apparently none of the expansions are going to retail, which is disappointing, but I definitely won't be going all-in. Too much content is overwhelming and it usually makes it less likely a game will get tabled.
Yeah, that's disappointing. Will definitely kill off any potential for a long tail, which is a shame. People should be able to buy a game, and then enjoy getting new stuff for it over time.
@@TheDungeonDiveI couldn't agree more. I'm backing the Adventurer tier because I just can't justify $400 + shipping for all the expansions but I'd love to be able to "dip in later" as you put it on a couple more expansions later. Really annoyed to find out that won't be the case.

I really appreciate your honest opinion(s) and advice. I just don't believe these KS preview videos you find on KS/GF webpages that hype games without balance.
Good for you, not getting FOMO for what is your favorite game. It looks like the new Tiles are indeed interlocking. Based on what I am reading from the campaign page, they won't be making enough of the Expansions to go to Retail. Likely only at Cons or their own website will these be available, so I am guessing very limited quantities. A second, later printing is an unknown.
Ok I'm very interested but Used copies don't seem anywhere for under the price of the core game on KickStarted. I'm primarily playing solo. Is the base game enough or will I need expansions? Your affection for this game is infectious.
Used copies of first edition are collectors items now, and I wouldn't go for that. I'd just pre-order a copy of the new edition coming out, and I'd probably pick up at least 1 or 2 of the expansions that sound interesting.
Hello Daniel, and thank you very much for the video. Are you familiar with the competitive mode in this game at all? If so, how would you rate that part of the game compared to the fully co-op? Thanks very much!
Something else I just noticed, Secrets of the Lost Station is cheaper now ($120 or $315) than it was on KS ($200 or $400.) Is there a lot of differences for Lost Station vs Lost Tomb? Or do you think we can expect the same pricing after the game ships?
@@TheDungeonDive oh ok. I'm almost done watching your video on why you bounced off Lost Station. It sounds like the loot cadence is more stingy and you wanted shorter games for 0 to hero. Well, it's been 10 years and the entire Graphic design is different - I mean... you could play the expansions with completely different graphic design if you wanted... however, we've invested a lot into upgrading the game to make it as epic as possible :)
Plastic shouldn't make a game cost more. Plastic doesn't add anything to game play. Game play is all in the cardboard and paper, so I would want to pay more for that. More cards with loot, random encounters, art, more books of scenarios, more tiles, etc. But yes, it is expensive. But also, artists, writers, and designers need to get paid so they can continue to make great games. These kinds of games are, unfortunately, turning more into luxury items.

The point is, if your being payed to show the game, make some effort and try to make it an interesting experience.
You dear dungeon diver showed us how much you love the game and made us dream how great could be to play it, and i really apreciate that, thank you.
Everythingepicgames.... you choosed to pay to people that dont see to really care for the game ( how whats that? made from gamers to gamers, yeah sure) instead offer a copy to someone who really loves the game and your work......
No good, no great.......just my opinion of course.
Yeah - I was supposed to get a preview copy, but did not.
I only have the base game. Too bad they didn’t at least make the expansions compatible :-(
Well, it's been 10 years and the entire Graphic design is different - I mean... you could play the expansions with completely different graphic design if you wanted... however, we've invested a lot into upgrading the game to make it as epic as possible :)
@@EverythingEpicGames oh I’m excited so don’t get me wrong!
Not worth $400. I can't think of a single game with all cardboard for that cost this much.
Plastic is cheap once the molds are made.
Proper playing card stock is expensive.
