I played all the scenarios in the first Kickstarter version including expansions. Most of them were great (the Blackbeard traitor scenario had serious flaws).
Congratulations on that, that’s quite the dedication. I wish I had that kind of discipline, new games arrive and I’m like “oooh shiny!” whilst my other games look on annoyed at me. 😅 What are the flaws with the Blackbeard traitor scenario? Are there any specific scenarios you’d like to see played? I’ve got the Fates Fortune and Myths & Legends expansions respectively
@@DieRollin I actually played it when it was new and shiny, and it caught on with some of my group from the get go. And my group had time enough to play really long games in the weekly meetings, so it got played pretty often. It is best at 4 characters, but works well at almost every player count (5 is problematic due to loss of 2 actions from the normal 12) The rules for traitors in the Blackbeard scenario is likely to have almost everyone turn traitor. Get 2 strikes: roll 2 dice, turn if any shows 1 or 2 (roughly a 45% chance of turning traitor). 3 strikes: roll 3 dice, turn if any die shows 1,2, or 3 (roughly an 87.5% chance of turning traitor). And there are enough strikes given that almost everyone will get 3. And whatever player helps the most in the first half will get the most strikes, meaning that the most powerful players are likely to turn. So roughly 7/8 of the players will be traitors, and the strongest are almost certainly among them. I have no special preferences about scenarios played - everything except Blackbeard was pretty fun. The "one if by..." and the Murasama scenarios are pretty short. Some other like the Proteus scenario can take 6 hours.
Whats your honest thoughts on the game? £130ish for the base game (with vat and shipping) or 230 for the base and 3 original exoansions is a kingly outlay. Interested in hearing your thoughts
Hey Nick, thanks for taking the time to check out the video. With regards to the new edition on offer, I’m at a point where I don’t go full in on games anymore because if I’m honest, the expansions sit unplayed for the most part as I have new games arriving all the time. That being said, I feel like the game has a tonne of replay value and I know previously from first edition, the expansions became really hard to get a hold of. So if you’re really keen on the game and think you’d play it enough times to cover the scenarios from the base game + expansions, then go get it! Otherwise, avoid the FOMO and just get a base game which will have a lovely place in your collection. If it were me, I’d just get the base pledge, but like I say, I’ve got a tonne of games I already don’t play enough. Hope that helps! 😊
@@DieRollin With full shelves and endless boxes arriving nowadays, I have a similar, but slightly modified backing process. If the content can be mixed up in a single or few games, then I aim for expansions. If that is not the case, yeah, the expansions will sit collecting dust so I avoid them. With that in mind, does Secrets of the Lost Tomb expansions mix with each other (monsters, gear, adventure cards, etc.) or is each box its own island of content?
@@robertharvey5904 There has been a designer's statement in the updates that most expansion content can be integrated into the basegame or mixed&matched. (tiles, encounters, characters ...) But then the core box already has 13 different scenarios ^^
Thank you for making this video! The last one i tried watching was painfully boring. Your editing is hilarious too! Havent decided yet re late pledge - just learned about this game.
Hi Adam. Do you just have the base game or the 3 original expansions as well? I am trying to work our what level to back the campaign at and wondered what amount of game play content you get in the base. Some of the pledge contents are massive. Thanks
Hey Nick, I actually own the Core Game + Myths and Legends + Fates Fortune. I’ve not really played the expansions though, so unsure of exactly what they add to it. I believe the new edition of the core comes with the same missions from this original one plus a bunch more. For me, the core is enough as I won’t realistically get it to the table to play beyond that with all the other games I have to get through.
Sorry I just saw this - Amazing video - I loved how you did the voiceover! :D
Glad you enjoyed our video! We’ll be making some more of these as I really enjoy playing the game :)
@@DieRollin epic thanks 😁👌
Very excited by the new kickstarter for this one. Great video!
Me too, thanks for watching the video! If you’d like to see me doing more of them, let me know
Epic!

Great video excellent game thanks so much mate 😊
Thanks so much for watching, I’m hoping they’ll send me the second edition so I can cover that. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Aww thanks for checking this out and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I always try and show games off in a fun way so I’m glad it worked out here.

It’s live right now!! :)
@DieRollin still watching your play through. You've just killed the boss man
How did you get a copy of Rogue Angels in your shelf?! Is it a prototype review copy?
It's a pretty great game that we were fortunate enough to be given a prototype of. Video of our gameplay is on the channel!
Is the game box literally the same size as your couch????
It’s mahoosive yeah 😅
It’s about half the length of my couch
