    Wow, the LX10 is muuuuuuch better. I wasn't expecting the difference to be so noticeable. The crazy bokeh that's always present on the LX10 thanks to the f/1.4 definitely makes for some crispy footage.

    Just started vlogging with the lx10 and apart from the low light that is less nice than a m4/3 and the stabilization that is okay but not for walking and filming, it's a very nice camera

    (unfortunately) the canon just has the af-c face tracking magic dust which the panasonic fails on and for me a sharp constant focus on the face is more important... shame that as the extra light on the panasonic is attractive.

    Great video dude!! Seriously considering the Panasonic for our family vlog, for the lens focus, the stills, the low light, and size. And flip screen. Super happy that it does 4k also. Super good camera. Right now we're just using a Campark action camera, which is crisp, but nowhere near the quality of a Panasonic point and shoot.

    • @tvlover81
      @tvlover81 7 лет назад +1

      The LX100 doesn't have a green tint. It does seem a little better than LX10 as far as stabilization. The lens on the LX100 is incredible!! It's a Leica at f1.7. Low light video and images are very nice! I love it! The downside is that it is larger than the LX10. It also doesn't have a articulating screen. It has so many great things to offer! Check it out!

    • @tvlover81
      @tvlover81 7 лет назад +2

      Akira Phan You do have a point about the flip up screen. I haven't had an issue of my LX100 not focusing but without a articulating screen that is a risk you take. Since you are vlogging I would say go with the canon. I love panasonic but the canon has stabilization. I owned a Canon g7x for a while and it was awesome. They have the G7x ii which is suppose to be even better. I don't know how others feel but since you will be walking around a more stabilized video seems better. I have a Sony a6000 as well. I ended up getting the Panasonic G85 because it has IBIS and the articulating screen. I shoot video and photos. I needed something that was going to be able to handle both! I feel like the canon would be a great choice and it's a fantastic price! I'm sorry if I have totally confused you.

      I am confused about the noise you can hear in the LX10 audio. Start at 4:30 and wait 10 s and then the canons starts with audio and there is much less noise (but the clicking sound. I guess that is what fLayN mentioned.). I have a LX10 myself and the noise starts when you switch it on and is allways there, just raise the camera to your ear and you hear it. Don't know which background noise is worse, but I think the LX10 noise is more dominant.

    • @fredpearson5204
      @fredpearson5204 5 лет назад

      BurtonVDP, there are three different Autofocus modes (AFF, AFS and AFC) on the LX10 (and other menu/software features that impact autofocus)--depending on what you're doing, picking the right one should solve most of your problems. I own the LX10 and LOVE it. I returned the G7X II because I hated the autofocus on it. As with all cameras, the perfect beast doesn't exist and it all depends what you want most out of a camera. The LX10 kills in low light and macro, too--VERY fast lens!

  • @malignanz
    @malignanz 7 лет назад +3

    I prefer the Panasonic in terms of image quality. The Canon always looks too contrasty, less sharp and its colors are way to saturated in most conditions. The image stabilization is superior on the Canon thought. I think I'll get the Panasonic. Thanks for your nice videos mate! Helping me alot. Cheers from Germany.

    The LX10 doesn't have a ND filter, and tends too overexposure. Also the stabilization of the LX10 is lousy. If you don't need 4K, then the Canon is a better choice. Thanks for the test.

    • @fredpearson5204
      @fredpearson5204 5 лет назад

      I've owned both and the LX10 is a MUCH better camera--faster lens, MUCH better in low light and if you're into macro, the LX10 has it all over the Canon. Both have autofocus issues (like all compact, large sensor cameras), but can be easily resolved.

  • @taylorv817
    @taylorv817 7 лет назад +1

    wow I'm a fan of Panasonic with the GH4, but low light the Canon has more details until it loss focus. I'm just wondering if the lx10 was trying to focus on the background and wonder if you could do a test with manual focus on that dark situation. If not it's okay =).

  • @ThornyJohn
    @ThornyJohn 7 лет назад +2

    I have to wonder, with regards to the outdoor low-light test, if something weird was going on with the LX10 in full auto mode. The lens of the LX10 should open to f1.4, with the G7X bottoming out at f1.8, yet the Canon had actual bokeh on the trees and lights in the background, while they were super-sharp on the Panasonic. This makes me wonder if the LX10 was not open all the way to f1.4, or if it was instead focusing on the background, which was the easier of the two (the other being your face) to focus on in such low light...or a bit of both?
    If this is a known issue, I'd check and see if Panasonic maybe has a firmware update to remedy that? I know they're very good about updating their firmware to fix bugs and such.

    • @JasonDot
      @JasonDot  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure, that test really surprised me. It does seem like the Panasonic ignored the foreground. And because I'm a big nerd, I check weekly for firmware updates for my cameras.

      ThornyJohn, it may have had something to do with whatever settings he had his LX10 on. • @BarryMaskell
    @BarryMaskell 6 лет назад +3

    The Leica lens is nicer look and colour - but the Canon is more stable - the fence remains horizontal when your moving around - the LX10 is still ok moving vlogging but not as stable - I believe you can extend the iso down from 125 to 80 which may help in bright sunlight conditions especially as the lx10 only goes up to f11 when fixing your frame rate to 180 degrees

    3:25 is the money shot to decide. The background is nice a blurred on the Lumix. The Canon can't do it as well. And you will notice that the Canon can't deal with the background light (flare) from the sun. The Panasonic has a better lens. Canon's integrated microphone, although in general they are all crap should be avoided, is better. The dark shot is better illuminated on the Canon, however both are unusable for different reasons.

    I just ordered the LX10 and I am not really interested in video.
    mainly photo quality is more important.
    I had a Canon 10d and then a 5D MK2 with a bevy of L lens but as i got older it was just too much of a hassle to carry this gear around.
    i have 6P smartphone which surprised me with its image quality and i also have a Sony A57 with a 18-250 lens but once again I just got tired of having to carry this stuff around.
    Even though I can see that the Sony delivered a better image than the LX10 I could not justify the price difference of $500.00AU and I have to say, not having bought a camera for years I was shocked at the high prices .
    I can see why a smartphone is good enough for most people, a decent camera plus its a freakin phone, you have the internet and you can put all your photos on Google photo .
    But being a photo freak I just could not help myself and needed something just a bit better than a smartphone enter the LX10.
    It got me and even though by comparison with the a57 i have, the quality of course is not as good but it is pretty good for 5x7 printing and you can't tell the difference.
    Another revelation was how hard it is to sell a DSLR. people just don't want them albeit the price reflects that.
    What turned me off the Sony RX100 V was not only the price but the lack of a touch screen.
    Once you have used a smartphone you just gotta have a touchscreen.
    Anyway I have had a mirrorless Panasonic before and also a long zoom all in one Sony .
    To be fair it's hard to justify the price of the Sony and i realised that the zoom is something that is hardly missed, particularly with the high pixel count these days you can get something half decent just by cropping.
