- Thanks for watching built sometime between 1850-1860 from what I could find out, lots of pretty architecture still left inside and outside. Huge wraparound front porch in a rural area down south

A beautiful grand old lady. You can tell she was built with love and pride. Makes me wonder who built and who lived there. Where are their descendants
Burn it down
They all probably decease. I wonder who's has it now ? Is it for sale?

I Just Don't See How Anyone Could or Would Walk Away and Let This Beautiful House Rot Away...Heart Breaking
So Beautiful...So Sad
Yes i agree
I think lack of money & time = letting things go😞
It looked like smoke damage above the fireplace and on the ceiling, so it was probably due to not being able to afford to fix it afterward.
The Slave were set free
Expensive, maybe no work in the area, out in the countryside.
Stunning old house , it should be saved !
Stunning!!
@jude jackson relax. my son posted that in a humorous, lighthearted way. Like:”Fuckin rights it should be restored!”
My job for the last 17 years, was restoring houses just like this, All the wood was milled to original , 3,000 just to set the mill, , Now that I'm disabled, Its just a dream now, old age stinks. There is nothing like finishing a old house like this to look new, what a feeling. Great video thanks for the memories
Could this one be restored? Any idea of the cost estimate? If I could have any place on earth this would be the one.
Thank you for helping to save a few of these beauties, anyway! Hope you feel better in knowing that you helped them. May you know peace and healing very soon.😸
Right on all counts! Our home was almost exactly like this. 1883, first half, then 1886. We spent our married life restoring it. Now I am crippled. It was a wonderful ,fun home, still in use by another couple! My husband's grandparents had it built.
That's a dream job for me those houses are my favorite I lived in several of them when I was growing up
Wow! Do you have photos of your work? I think posterity would love it.
That would be nice to restore.
i love renovating old houses like that :) it's so therapeutic.
@@flfreefun1246 -it actually didn't appear to be in that bad of shape.
To build replica would defeat the purpose of restoring the original home to its glory.
@@tonyaperry4763 agreed it was in good shape. It appeared to have a metal roof. Every old barn bbn or house I've seen with a metal roof has stood the test of time.
Tonya Perry - you have it spot on right. I think the reason we are so attracted to old houses is because of the history. I live in a semi-detached cottage in Sydney Australia, and did research at our land titles office into every person who had owned my house since it was built in 1929. Also through our local library with their resident historian. I traced back to the original land owner in the 1800s, the beginning of white settlement in Australia. I now have a complete history to pass on to future owners.
@@tonyaperry4763 The issue is its hard to tell what "bad shape" is from this video alone. The home probably has major structural damage that would cost more to correct than what the entire house is worth.
Every room had a fireplace. I can just imagine gleaming floors snow falling outside fireplaces burning as everyone sat at the dinner table❤️
That was a beautiful old house. Can only imagine what it looked like back in its day. Thanks for the explore 👍😃
Don't see any wall plugs older than you think👍
I wonder what would be like if this house is restored
GORGEOUS house. I'm pleasantly surprised that something that old has still somehow managed to hold up remarkably well - no collapsed ceiling, walls, or anything of that sort which you'd normally find in other abandoned homes that were made more recently. If it is unclaimed, then I really hope that someone will jump in to save it before it does sustain any kind of significant damage. For it's age and condition, it's a real gem!

When I see this abandoned places I can't stop thinking about the people who used to live there, all that happened.. so amazing.
Yeah, if only the walls could talk.
Same here! I always try to find signs of the lives that once lived in these places.
It is in the South ! I have lived in Georgia my entire life and have never seen this house !
It's nice to see a beautiful old house like this without all of the junk lying around in every room, like in some houses.
ruclips.net/video/FnDuPQ3-CJ8/видео.html
It looks like it's sitting there, waiting for the owners to come back.
It does😉
The classic spook house, but with beautiful architecture and peaceful surroundings.
Owners may have never left...

Where is this house? What State is this in? Too nice to let this go to rot! What is the story behind this house? Someone must know. Well Cappy?
Hel yea it would
Jus love ol housez like this 1
They put blood sweat tearz wen they built housez not like they built 2day
I run down south or west in heart beat
It could be very beautiful
What state is it in? I'm in Florida. Is this in the Carolinas somewhere?
Oh what a house plan to duplicate, the entry foyer was unique with access to the parlor on right and living room on left with a possible access to the dining room. There were other rooms on 1st level which is questionable what they were used for. A kitchen/pantry/food storage as well as an area for washing laundry could have been in another building close to house (by now torn down) and managed by servants, cooks, maids. On the property there had to be a well (source of water for bathing and cooking). The out house (toilet) after so many years may have been torn down. Love the layout of the second level with the enormous hall way and the front porch was such a beauty. I have to look at this video one more time. Thanks Kappy for sharing.
Would you believe I've seen several houses for sale (2020) with out houses. Imagine years back (east coast) all these beautiful homes lined up and down the street, like Newburyport packed in so tightly your neighbor could pour you coffee. And they all had two outhouses staff/owners. Now imagine a hot 100+F summers day or evening O'lordy let's all be greatful for the man/lady who invented "the flush". I don't care how "posh" city life would be a farmhouse on its own would be fine for me.
That house was built right by real Carpenters who knew what they were doing unlike the houses of the last 50 years or so prefabricated junk built by people who have no clue what they are doing . Carpenters and construction workers today are not as good as they were back when this house was built .
You are so right!
I completely agree 💯% And the materials that they are such a joke but then they want to charge an arm and leg for it! I wish that I could rescue this property.
There are building codes now that prevent houses like this to be built today, and materials aren't as readily available as 100+ years ago. Remodeling this house would probably cost more than it would ever be worth, IF it could pass inspection.
@@wizardofahhhs759 so sad
People used to have pride in their work. It was pride in their family name that made them want to be known as the artists they were. They were building something that would last and that for years people would associate with their name. Not only do we not do that these days, with the cost of living being what it is we really don't give anybody the opportunity to be an artist. It's sad.
The old homes were designed with amazing symetry, detail, and proportions. Nothing like the mcmansions of today.

the echoing gunshots makes me think if the first residents heard the same sounds echoing during engagements during the civil war
Kappy, u took the words right out my mouth!! Another beautiful old girl! These older homes were built to last.
What a neat house.
Wonderful find. This has to be one of my favorites. FYI, the first room off the main hall is called the front pallor. It was used for company only. The room behind, is where the family gathered. go there after dinner to smoke cigars and sip brandy. I work at a Victorian house museum that has almost the same floor plan.
Parlour. Room for talking in, making conversation.
Tom Meadows thank you for finishing what I was about to say. I had also planned to say the men would also retire there after dinner to smoke cigars and sip brandy, but decided the the comment was too long, so I tried to delete and hit the wrong tab and it was sent. Sarah Strong so sorry about my comment saying the family smoked and drank. @@shirleyemrick1700 All the best Shirley. It is a fascinating house. I expect many of the men did drink & smoke unless they had religious or health ideas that discouraged that.

This is such a beautiful old house that you can tell was built with care and pride. This house layout is exactly what I want as my “dream” home. It would have been nice to see inside one of the closets, the kitchen, bathroom and the back of the house.
Bella. I love your name. I hope this is a complement…. I had a beautiful black lab named Bella. I’m sure if there’d been a kitchen and bathroom set up, he would have shown us. I don’t know about the kitchen but they may never have put a bathroom in. They may have still had an outhouse. This is a very early house. The massive fireplaces help give the age away. I would bet any money that those are all original paint colours. Except for the windows, everything looks as it would have looked originally. The mantel place trim was very simple and primitive. This house is so beautiful in its simplicity and the setting is a dream.
Would love to time travel back to when the first family lived there ! The outside was so grand and beautiful 👏👏👏💕💕💕
This is an example of why I love old houses they had style nothing like them today thank you Kappy for taking me there❤️❤️❤️❤️

What a beautiful old house. When I saw the nails in the mantle I wondered if that was where the kids hung their Christmas stockings.....could also be vandals, but I'd rather believe it was for Christmas. This family must have been well off. That house is huge and that was before kitchens and bathrooms. I'd love to restore it. Heck all I'd do is patch the holes, and paint. Just sand the floor, I love it as is. Beautiful find.

Love this house. Wish it was mine. But then, I’d have to wish myself younger so I’d have the strength and time to fix it up and the time to enjoy it.
Not having the strength and money is why we no longer live in old homes. You need an abundance of both. It sucks to grow old.
Indoor plumbing wasn't done until about 1925 - 1940 in the south as well as most other rural areas. I used the ''old outhouse' as late as 1960 at my wife's grandparents.

Beautiful home - love the detail of the older homes!! Wish I had money to afford to refurbish and live there! :)
Wow, what a beautiful old place ❤. No bathroom?? Kitchen?? Love old vintage plumbing fixtures. If I had the money..... 😊
What a gorgeous old plantation ... that porch is STUNNING, and the woodwork inside, the fireplaces, those amazing sculpted baseboards, the archway, all of it ... for as old as it is, it's not as deteriorated as you might expect. I wish someone would pick this up and restore it. If I ever hit the lottery, I'll do it myself.

It’s so sad when an old home has lost its heart. Seems to be restorable, just needs a for sale sign out front so some family can bring life back to this beauty.
Unfortunately, the costs to bring structural damage up to code probably outweighs the value of the home..
It's sad to see such a beautiful place rot.

There must have been an outside kitchen and outhouse. Beautiful old lady!
Outside kitchen was a brilliant idea. I love to cook, but I cannot tolerate the heat that stoves generate. I usually use slow cooker.
@@asafaust8869 an outdoor kitchen was standard then, not only because of heat, but because kitchen fires were common and that way it didn't burn your house down too.
I love the windows on second floor.
It would be nice to have the money to buy it and bring it back to life
I love looking at old houses and hearing the history of stuff. When I was younger I didn’t care but now it’s interesting. 😃
Pleeeaaaassse someone adopt & rescue this home. Can you imagine it in the 1800s? I can just see conveyances sweeping up to the house, bringing folks for a summer party. Lanterns hanging on the veranda, ballgowns swirling around on an al fresco dance floor. Ladies sipping punch & gents making eyes at them, awaiting a chance to talk to the ones they felt keen on. Old folks tucking into a feast while laughing at the youngsters. Thank you so much for sharing this old place that could again look so full of colour & bright lives. If only. If only.
Where at?
It's funny that you made this post because I was going to myself. The entire time I was picturing the family/ families that would have gathered there in the colonial apparels before electricity. I would like to see the young man introduce himself before starting the exploration and maybe take a couple minutes to walk around the outside of the property. All in all you are doing a really good job. I spend a lot of time watching these video's. I am going to subscribe to you sir because I believe that as you do more you will pick up on a few more details. Keep doing what your doing bud, you got my attention.

I noticed right away that the fireplaces are small, which means they were Coal Burning Fireplaces. Our family home was built in 1907 and it had the small fireplaces in every room as well.
@@BigBeautifulOne1963 Looked to be a lot of smoke damage in the one room.
Great video, Kappy. Wonder where the outhouse and kitchen were located? Interesting to note the place has been rudimentary wiring for electricity. I've also noted that fireplaces evolved from wood to coal burning with stoves. The hearths in some rooms had been closed up with masonry, then a round hole provided for a metal flue to attach to a chimney and iron heating stove (now missing in the house).
Coal became available for heating as railroads spread in the post Civil War reconstruction era in the South in the 1870's. It was cleaner and took less effort to use than wood.
A true beauty here Kappy. Wow! Love the woodwork and the fireplaces. Gorgeous.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh, what I wouldn’t give to own this gorgeous home!! The big front door and the beautiful foyer with the arch were just inviting you in to the grandeur of what once was. The rooms are huge. I love the colors of the fireplaces and woodwork in the bedrooms. They would have called them just that, the yellow bedroom, the green bedroom, ect. The summer kitchen I could see out back. Probably no indoor plumbing so this house hasn’t been occupied for quite a long time. Looks like there was a small balcony upstairs because it looks like a door opening in the center rather than a window. That would have topped off the beauty of the front of the house with that exquisite front porch! Excellent find and video Kappy!! Thanks and stay safe out there!!

I'd live in that house in a heartbeat!
Don't want to nitpick, but to me that architecture looks more like around 1880's. Or it may have started out earlier as an Italianate house and then they added that porch and Queen Anne Victorian details at a later date, around 1880 to 1900.
J Sowders I thought so as well. I lived in an Italianate from the late 1860’s , some of that detail reminds me of the home I lived in. Lots of work , but my dad had good help. Lots of drywall to pull out . Layers upon layers of old wallpaper, omg 😱
But it was so worth it. Those rooms were freaking palatial, and the details were amazing.
@@makeupboss3568 ... Yes, old houses require lots of work, time and money. That's the main reason why so many of these beautiful old houses are left alone. My house in rural mid west Texas turns 100 yrs old this year. We are repainting the exterior in historically correct colors. We're going to need some seriously high scaffolding!!! 😁
J Sowders that’s gotta be a huge house !
If you look at the exterior shots the back of the house it looks like it has Greek Revival details to me and the front with all the detailing was an addition. I find it fascinating there there is no indoor plumbing and very basic electrical. Such a sweet house.
Your correct. He just about always gets his details wrong. No kitchens or baths! I put that house to around 1910ish.

I like looking at these old houses and imagining how they looked originally. It’s easy to romanticize how neat it would be to live in them, but they were not built for modern comfort.
Growing up, my neighbor friend had an old house like many of these and I have to tell you, it was miserable to live in. It was either cold or hot. High ceilings helped in the summer, but they closed off most of the house in the winter and lived in a small area that they could somewhat keep warm. It was drafty, creaky, inconvenient, and had lots of issues. They would have had to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to make it comfortable to live in.
Newer home designs benefit from advances in technology and building practices. These old houses may have workmanship that you rarely find in newer homes, but there is a trade off. I would not want to live in most of these old homes, even if renovated. Nice to look at but, I like my central heat and air, modern kitchenand baths and if you’re going to make the old home over, doesn’t that kind of take away from the reason why these homes seem so charming?
Incredible old home that should be saved. All things considered it is not beyond restoration. I sure hope that someone will save this treasure.
Love this house even with no sign of kitchen or bathroom. It's just a great place, so much room and that porch was awesome. Thanks, Kappy

This home would have been considered a mansion back in the mid 1800. And it doesn't appear it's had life in it for quite some time, as I noticed no bathrooms, no upgrades, just a simple place to live. Probably had an outhouse out in back somewheres.
