After seeing all that this house has to offer all I can say is; I hope someone saves that organ. Piano too. Thank you Kappy. I always look forward to Saturdays because of you.
That organ is a truly a work of art and should be preserved at all cost! I have a feeling that several families lived there after the doctor did, they probably moved all their belongings in and arranged them around the organ and piano. I'm guessing the white keys on both the organ , and the piano are made from ivory. How nice to see such a grand place that hasn't been vandalized... yet...
You are correct! The tiger Wood is quite beautiful. We get a lot of quarter sawed white oak. This pattern isn't found in all or even most oak but it's not uncommon. It's still beautiful and desired today. Good eye!
At first I thought that was tiger oak on the trim and fireplaces, but when you showed the close up of the door it's easy to see it was faux wood grain. I've seen that done in other old houses but had forgotten all about it. They take plain wood and varnish it, and while the varnish is still wet they drag tools through it to create a wood grain effect. Beautiful house, love the staircase and banisters, and the bright and open layout. Nice old Southern belle. Another one where a metal roof saved it, could be restored.
@@ihave35cents95 Antiques are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. $300? Probably, for now. Depends on condition, location, and interest. I've gone to auctions and been shocked at what things go for.

painted wood trim to look like tiger oak upstairs and down- excellent examples of what's called "comb painting "- historic early American painting skill still used today.
I think it’s an old gas lamp in that upstairs bedroom. What a cool find!!! One can see how glorious this house must have been in its day, not super fancy but obviously built with care & pride!!
Two great houses. The doctor's house was a real charmer in its day. All the fire places were awesome. I love the woodwork. I always enjoy seeing the old pump organs and pianos. Often they're left behind because of their weight. Some fifty years ago I had a playerpiano. It was heavier than I ever expected and like so many other people I had to leave it behind because it was too heavy to move. That pump organ is stunning. I bet with a little elbow grease and repairing the bello's it would come to life once again. I was really surprised as to how big the second house was. It certainly didn't look that way from the outside. Two great houses and another wonderful adventure. Thanks Kappy, for bringing us along 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My grandmother had a pump organ similar to the one shown here. I never saw anyone play it, so it leaves me to believe that it was originally owned by my great grandmother. She was insane, but she was kept at home, I remember her quite well, she terrified me because she was rather wild acting and could get violent at the drop of a hat. She wore high neck blouses, long floor length dresses with petticoats underneath and hook shoes and her hair pulled back in a bun. The odd fixture in the upstairs room is as someone said is a gas lamp, they became common fixtures in many houses before electricity.
