      I mean Hewitt dominated Federer at the start of their rivalry winning 7 of their first 8 encounters but as time passed & Hewitt aged (plus his hip surgery in 2006 which he was never the same after) & Federer entered his prime, Federer dominated winning 16 of their 18 last encounters.
      Hewitt when he was younger was like Nadal, just pure athleticism plus he had great shot selection, the best lob in the world & an uncanny ability to return serves + shots. There's a reason why he's the worlds youngest #1 player.

      hewitt well past his prime here. once fed improved his athleticism it was game over for hewitt. thats all he had over him and by 2010 he was well past it due to injuries. also his serve cost him alot. would have had more success if he had a decent serve. the flat ball of hewitt is perfect for federers strike range.

    End of an Era. Thank you Maéstro, a.k.a. Roger Federer for all the memories. It was an honour witnessing your grace, elegance, flamboyance. There will never be another athlete, another Champion, another #Legend like you. You are simply the very best!🙏🏻🏆❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You made us all fall in love with this sport. You made us believe that no matter how hard life knocks us down, we must never give up and keep Believeing. It was a privilege watching you, right from my childhood days,almost 2 decades ago till now. You are an icon in not only tennis, but also the Sporting Universe as a whole. We all realise what you had to go through the past 3 years with 3 back to back arthroscopic surgeries on the knee. The only thing I am happy about now is that you will be relieved of the physical stress that a tennis athlete has to endure in order to play at the highest level. Needless to say that it breaks my heart to even imagine that you will never be seen again in the ATP Circuit after next week. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔Tennis will never be the same again without you, Rog! This is the saddest day of Tennis till now. 🙏🏻💔 You revolutionized the sport in astronomical proportions Roger. Your Legacy shall live on forever. 🙏🏻❤️ Tennis will never be the same again without you. 🙏🏻💔 Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❣️❤

    I'm not a Hewitt fan, but he really has played the cards he was dealt very well. He is short, not very powerful, no weapon, but he still managed to get to number 1 and win a grand slam title. He won a few masters titles and such. He has a better resume, IMO than a lot of the top 10. How many of them from Murray, Ferrer, Tsonga, Berdych etc have won a slam? Or won a Master Cup Title twice? He has nothing to be ashamed of, and I hope he can walk away with his head held high.

    I will admit Hewitt has gone past his peak but some of the plays, point construction and skill displayed by Federer is unparalleled. Just hear the commentators, you will not hear them using the same word for Nadal or Djoker or Murray or any other player and that's because most of them played professional tennis and know how hard it is to pull these kinds of shots off, let alone make them look easy. Hardly anyone apart from Federer has the skill to construct the points. Dull, Djoker and Murray use either brute force for winners or wait for errors from opponents.
    Fans like us only watch videos and yes quite a few of us may even have played tennis but not at the same level so take it from experts when they say it was incredible or unbelievable or "how does he do that" or "That is not possible"...

    Fans of Nadal, Djoker and Murray will mention their records etc. But think about it this way. Ask the question to yourself. When you play any sport let alone Tennis, wouldn't you enjoy the win more if you did it in style or with great piece of skill as opposed to winning it ugly? Yes winning is winning but every player knows that there is extra enjoyment when you hit winners with skill instead of just blast the ball. Not only Federer puts a great entertainment on for the spectators, he himself enjoys the tennis the way he plays.
    There is difference between playing because you have hunger to win and playing because you enjoy it very much.
    This is where Federer is on a level of his own above everyone else irrespective of if he will be considered GOAT.
    How many people can say "I enjoy watching Nadal or Djoker or Murray" as opposed to "I enjoy watching Federer play"?

    • @MrHappyNappy
      @MrHappyNappy 10 лет назад +8

      Yup! That's why Roger is the most skillful player, effortless and classy! Nadal has a unique power based technique though, but requires lots of physical muscle power! And running speed too! Djokovic uses his speed in running! There's a lot more to it such as agility, athleticism, stamina, anticipation, timing..etc.. But ones mentioned before are their main weapons!

    • @skyseeker9735
      @skyseeker9735 10 лет назад +11

      You think hitting the ball over 4000 rpm doesn't take skill? Djokovic, murray and nadal have skills as well as athleticism in their game. You casual fans don't understand the skills you need to produce what these guys can do. If it doesn't take skill then how come you guys can do it? Plus entertainment and enjoyment for different players is an opinion. Some people like you like to watch federer doin ballad dancing and some ppl prefer watching djokovic, nadal and murray play.

    • @DhavalBrahmbhatt2627
      @DhavalBrahmbhatt2627 10 лет назад +5

      Well, if you talk about skills, the only skill Nadal has is the ability to hit ball at 4000 rpms on clay and I am in awe of Nadal for that, no question. Athleticism is not skill and Federer is as good an athlete as any one else on tour except Nadal who over does it. Let's see if either of Nadal, Djokovic and Murray reaches 1000 tour wins. Compared to Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovik do nothing but ball bashing. Its well known in tennis world and you hear it from tennis experts time and again.
      Talking about skills, there is no one more skilful than Federer, again a fact that is well documented and agreed by tennis experts and not just you or me.
      I was merely saying that when you watch a tennis player play, everything comes to gather on court and it is a lot better with Federer than anyone else.

    • @skyseeker9735
      @skyseeker9735 10 лет назад +6

      Dhaval Brahmbhatt Well in terms of skill, borg and sampras are very skilful especially borg. Borg was able to dominant wimbledon and french open at 2 different surfaces. You really lack any tennis knowledge, djokovic, murray and nadal can not ball bashers, a ball basher is like berdych. Those 3 are counterpunchers but have the ability to hit winners from anywhere on the court, great footwork and the ability to defend. Novak and murray have one of the best backhands of all time while nadal's forehand is one of the best in history along with federer. Yes, federer is more skilled than those 3 but it doesn't mean those 3 aren't skilled at all. If you're saying their style doesn't take any skill then how come you can't do it? then how come nadal, djoker and murray are able to finish in the top 5 so consistently for many years? Tennis experts doesn't mean jack shit, it's their opinion just like everyone else. Agassi and McEnroe said nadal is greater than federer so does that mean they are right? I don't believe nadal is better than federer even though I'm not a ''tennis expert''.

    Federer is past his peak here but still is more aggressive than he is in 2018...in 2017 Federer was going for his shots and that i why he had 2 slams. In the 2017 US open he was passive and hence paid the price for it. Again, in 2018 he couldnt win Wimbledon because of his passive game play. If he needs to win the US 2018 he will have to play more aggressively and uninhibited. Ocourse in 2010, he was still just breathtakingly brilliant.

    From back in the day when no one had yet figured out Federer’s game. Just keep hitting to that backhand all day. 1 set in and it will start to take its toll. And then you expand out to the forehand. Novak and Rafa started doing this at will.m once they figured it out. Hewitt has the game to do it too, but they hadn’t figured him out as well back then.

    @3timeMVPNash I agree, Rafa and Hewitt are both Counterpunchers, and they use their opponents pace against them. The difference is that while Hewitt defends and has no real weaknesses in his game, he doesn't have a weapon like Nadal's forehand. Nadal, though being a counterpuncher can generate enormous amounts of pace off his left hand wing. Though definitely, he is more defensive than he is offensive.

    @aakzeman what i meant was, since his career has been plagued with injuries he hasn't had the opportunity to adjust his game so he probably just falls back on counterpunching becuz at the moment, that's all he knows how to do. Before he got seriously injured in like 05 i think it was, he visibly got bigger to try and gain more power off the ground

    agree and roger still put´s a beat down on player´s of the present day generation, even if some of them, have had a greater degree of sucess agains´t roger, like novak and rafa, but there is no denying that roger is still going strong and is still the best tennis player of all time, breaking record´s, winning slams and other tournaments.

    They don't call Muhammad Ali the greatest boxer of all time for no reason.
    He was successful and stylish in the way he boxed.
    Name any boxer that was like Muhammad Ali.
    Federer is the same, he's playing style is very artistic, and he's successful.
    What other tennis player does this?

    Hewitt had too little aggression to have been competitive in this game, 3:33 was the best example. If Hewitt didn't
    even hit down the line with that weak ball from Roger, he could only count on Roger's unforced errors, which didn't happen as often back then, especially against players one or tow tiers below, like Hewitt.

  • @cambium0

    Hewitt's slow groundies making Federer look good here. Federer had all the time he needed and when he has time, you're done. Every shot, even stretching out wide, is just another opportunity for Federer to hit a winner. In war they talk about the fire control computer for the big guns ... Fed is always effortlessly calculating and he fires the perfect shot, seemingly every time in this match. His skills are so solid that he has an option for a winner no matter the scenario. Just abundant shots on call from flick of the wrist backhand to crushing forehand down the line to drop shot to putting it behind the other player or just out of his reach. So locked in. Hewitt just left him with too much time to execute. And 9.5 years later Federer's reaction time isn't quite as good. This kind of display probably isn't in the cards--plus, the other players are better now.

    the most beautiful stylist of the game ever, of that at least no one can deny! but yes, Nadal titles on clay just as valid as Fed's Wimbledons. Federer though transitioned the older Sampras-style game to the new more baseline game. legend in that way to, and as ambassador for game, very maketable.

    To all the fools who imply Roger's generation was weak. Be mindful of matches like the Australian Open this year, a crippled old Hewitt took a set off the World #1 in prime Novak Djokovic. Do not call any era weak, Roger just makes his competition in his prime look weak ;)

  • @emilianososa2079
    @emilianososa2079 4 года назад +1

    Por algo muchos llamamos "weak era" a esa época donde Federer ganó a placer.
    Si ven el partido con ojo táctico, verán lo malo que jugó Hewitt, o que jugó siempre contra Federer mejor dicho . Todas las pelotas picando cerca del cuadrado de saque dejando pensar a Federer muchísimo.
    En los únicos rallys que lo incomodo fue cuando puso bolas profundas.
    Djokovic, pone pelotas a las líneas todo el tiempo, es una lacra.
    Por eso le ha ganado incluso en Wimbledon. Es injugable el serbio cuando está de 7 puntos para arriba.
    Y no sólo él, en esta época estuvieron Rafa, Del Potro, Wawrinka, etc, todos jugadores que le darían un repaso a los muchachos del 2007 para atrás.

    he had a positive head to head vs agassi who won 5 of his 8 slams during the time he was playing alongside hewitt. Again had a positive head to head against sampras, I know he was on the decline but still an impressive feat, along with Moya, Kuerten, Safin and Kafelnikov. So to say nalbandian was the hardest resistance is just not true at all, you should give him more credit.

    @nanananalalala The reason why players play it is because it's one of the warmups to the Australian Open. It has about the same prize money as most 500 level tournaments, but not more than Grand Slams or 1000 series. Only this year will it be added to the ATP 250 events. I don't know what exactly you're arguing against me for anyway, my point is that Soderling's victory isn't an ATP recorded match and will never appear in professional statistics.

  • @AllGenreMusic
    @AllGenreMusic 14 лет назад

    @Rafathaman94 Oh well, all good things come to an end sometime. I mean plus, it is Hewitt. Federer has had some really close matches over the years with Lleyton, most notably Cincinnati 2007.
    But either way, we shouldn't expect Federer to be anywhere near as consistent as he once was. He will certainly still be at the top 3 in terms of being a GS contender, so he should be able to get a few more under his belt. It would be extremely shocking if he couldn't, because he still has some game.
