      These comparisons doesn't make any sense cuz he played against better players in 2017 than 2018, in 2017 it was like Berdych Wawrinka Nishikori Nadal and i don't remember the others, in 2018 it was Berdych and Marin Cilic, JLS is a little target but not as big as Wawrinka or Nishikori, and Gasquet is way too weak against Federer, his forehand is bad and his backhand, even if it's a thing of beauty, isn't as much efficient as Federer's backhand which is literally more powerful. + Heyon gave up in Semi-Final. His run in 2017 is more impressive than 2018 due to the players he played and his bestest skill couldn't came out more in 2018, i think both are different but pretty equal, 2017 Federer was like a phoenix coming back after 6 months away from the competition so it mays seem maybe more impressive, sure it was and in both years 2017-2018, i prefer the 2017 run, more symbolic to me ^^

    Never get bored of watching Federer as his shot making ability is simply from another World - and thankfully doesn’t need coaching after every point and fist pump after every single point , just lets the audience appreciate his greatest. No one has or will come close in terms of his variety or skill level.

    He beat Cilic comfortably in Wim '17 but here it took him 5 sets in the very first major tournament of the season. Could have been 3-1 but Federer's focus slipped in the 4th set, allowing Cilic to break him twice, so he ended up tanking the 4th set to save energy for the 5th. Glad the gambit paid off.
    Looking back you could say this was the real beginning of the end for Federer. He was gassed by the final match and practically ran on fumes to get it over the line for this tournament. It affected his ability to keep the World No.1 ranking after Rotterdam too.
    People cannot say with a straight face that 2017-early 2018 was "the best Federer ever seen" when 2006 Federer was playing 2 3-setters and a 5-setter final in 2006 for 3 days straight, while 2017-2018 Federer skipped one third of the season just to have enough stamina for the non-clay events.

      The old racket honed Federer to be the player he is today. Besides, his game was close to perfect to dominate tennis from late 2003 to 2010 AO anyway.
      Mid 2010 - 2011 would've been ideal for the switch. He would've played at an even higher level in 2011-2012, may even surpass his peak with the old racket.

    • @fedech1498
      @fedech1498 4 года назад +1

      La suerte tambien juega un papel importante en todo deporte. El lado de Federer tenia a: Novak, Thiem, Raonic, Delpo, Wawrinka, Berdych, Zverev... En teoria era mucho mas complicado que el de Rafa (Cilic, Dimitrov, Kyrgios) tanto en ranking como en dificultad de jugadores a enfrentar.. Novak y Sacha cayeron con Heung Chung, Thiem y Wawrinka perdieron de Sandgreen, Raonic lo mato temprano Lacko, Delpo perdio de Berdych y Berdych de Roger.
      Su lado no era facil, pero los jugadores con quien suponiamos que iba a enfrentar desde 8vos hasta la final cayeron temprano.

      It's an unfair comparisson, when Prime Roger was constantly beating novak, Novak was too young and not in his prime.. When Prime Novak was constantly beating Roger, Roger was way past his prime. It's a 5 years gap between them and the H2H is still tight bro. With Rafa is different because he hit his prime way too young so both of them were able to play against each others in their prime years... So it's not that simple.. Just cherish both of them because they have contributed a lot to tennis.

      So wrong. Federer bracket had: Novak, Thiem, Raonic, Delpo, Wawrinka, Berdych, Zverev... On paper he had a Harder draw than Rafa (Cilic, Dimitrov, Kyrgios) in terms of seeds and player difficulty.. But again: Novak and Sacha lost to Heung Chung, Thiem and Wawrinka lost to Sandgreen, Raonic lost to Lacko, Delpo lost to Berdych, and Berdych to Roger.
      His bracket wasn't an easy one, but the players he was supposed to face in the latest stages lost early.
