PLEASE, they need to do this! I have both systems, but I play on my PS5 99% of the time. This is due to my friends' list growth during the PS4 generation.
It's the direction Xbox is going in. They want gaming to be as accessible as movies and books. Essentially, they want to eliminate console exclusivity. While Playstation wants people fully invested into their hardware and ecosystem. Both are different directions that are equally as opportunistic. A lot of people are sleeping on the generation because of the games, but I'd argue this is one of the most diverse generations we've ever had. The games are taking the hit for now, but for the first time it feels like every company is heading in their own best direction in the long run.

Look at it this way, if corporations decided the only way to watch Spiderman is by getting a Sony Branded Blu Ray Player, people would be pretty upset over it. The Final Fantasy sales are down because they limit the potential customer base. Exclusivity, especially leaving out PC, is a business model losing out on sales in a stagnant console market.

All the older XB franchises were milked to the limit, never reinvented themselves and have lost all their value. Hopefully these new iterations of Fable, Halo, Gears and so on will take bigger risks to modernize and appeal to a larger and younger audience.
I suspect they built a tech demo of combat evolved to show proof of concept that halo can be made on ue5. Really hoping with this change announced they’ve been developing a remaster of the original halo and announced sooner rather than later.
The rumour that's been making rounds since Microsoft started releasing first party games on revival platforms was that 343i is going to remake Combat Evolved using Unreal Engine 5 and it was going to release on PlayStation hardware for the first time ever. That announcement video that they recently showed awhile ago was pretty much a quiet confirmation of that.
This conversation really needs to stop. If Halo moves multi platform, Xbox’s whole identity is done. As a marketer in the industry, this is a terrible idea. Give fans a reason to buy your product.

The problem with all of this is whats the point of owning an xbox then? Microsoft keeps trying to say well xbox has game pass, consumers aren't stupid its obvious that gamepass will also eventually come to other consoles, especially now that ppl will see there is no reason to own an xbox and sales will drop further. Especially when in this day consoles are more expensive than ever before, there is no reason to own more than 1 if the games will come to the other in 6 months. The follow up problem is then that without xbox playstation essentially has a hold over high end console gaming and can price consoles however they want because they don't have competition. i.e. PS5 Pro costing $700
Personally think moving Halo, Gears, Fable and Forza has to be a last resort for Xbox and it would spell the end of them making consoles once they did it.
If PlayStation keeps making these high budget AAAs that only sell about 5 million copies, they will start putting games on other platforms. We're already in the beginning of this with PS games going to PC, Lego Horizon and sorta with MLB.

Halo, Gears, Forza and all franchises that have community potential should be multiplatform. It just makes business sense. Nowadays the only company that makes sense for their games to be exclusive is Nintendo. If Sony released their games on PC day 1 they would sell much more than if they were released 2 years later, as happened with Helldivers 2, the same with Xbox.
Halo on PlayStation was always a red line for Xbox fans, and many said that Xbox would be dead to them the moment Halo came to PlayStation. It was incredibly amusing to watch how even hardcore Xbox fans slowly changed their minds in light of Microsoft's move towards a multiplatform strategy. Today, suddenly, they all think it's great. Microsoft can do whatever they want with you, and you'll still defend everything.
Not going to lie. I'm an Xbox guy. In my first learned about them giving away all of our exclusives, I was really mad and salty. But when you step back and see that Microsoft is losing to Sony and Nintendo badly, And there's literally no clear answer in the foreseeable future to get anybody to buy an Xbox. What else can they do? I believe they have a strategy and they're going to execute it. I'm perfectly fine with them putting all of our exclusives over on PlayStation and switch. There's no point in owning an Xbox anymore.
The games Microsoft owns will sell incredibly well on PlayStation. And it will attract interest to Game Pass. So buy a PS6, get Game Pass and a Switch 2. That's what I'll be going with next generation. Maybe I'll get the Xbox handheld because it's a new territory for Xbox and they might do a good job. And there is PC which I'm actively trying to get more into.
After buying Bethesda and ABK Microsoft has done as if the 2016-17 Warriors quit the season without playing after getting Kevin Durant or the 2020-21 Bucs after getting Tom Brady, AB and Gronk... its a shame to see. If Halo, Gears of Forza are ported to PS they should just go 3rd party, stop wasting resources on hardware.

Why aren't Playstation titles coming to XB? Why is there an obsession with XB titles being cross gen?
It's the direction Xbox is going in. They want gaming to be as accessible as movies and books. Essentially, they want to eliminate console exclusivity. While Playstation wants people fully invested into their hardware and ecosystem. Both are different directions that are equally as opportunistic. A lot of people are sleeping on the generation because of the games, but I'd argue this is one of the most diverse generations we've ever had. The games are taking the hit for now, but for the first time it feels like every company is heading in their own best direction in the long run.

You need a reason to BUY a console and Xbox doesn’t have one which is why they are going multi platform to some degree.

Clearly it doesn't make financial sense to Sony, they've already won this generation, and with MS so determined to inevitably abandon the console model, Sony can afford to just wait it out until MS goes full party and Xbox as a platform is completely dead. That's the only way it's going to happen. Sony has their boot on Xbox's neck, why would they not finish the job? This is coming from a former Xbox fan, BTW. Beyond becoming a third-party publisher and developer, Xbox has NO FUTURE in console, and every decision they have made in recent years is only speeding the death march of Xbox along.
Look at it this way, if corporations decided the only way to watch Spiderman is by getting a Sony Branded Blu Ray Player, people would be pretty upset over it. Xbox has the same vision for the video game medium. They want games everywhere, and they want you to buy those games through them, no matter what you choose to play on.
Man every recent Xbox move is just them full on going Sega. Sony with no "actual" competition is just gonna make them go full Nvidia on consumers.

The Final Fantasy sales are down because they limit the potential customer base. Exclusivity, especially leaving out PC, is a business model losing out on sales in a stagnant console market.

The console race happened just fine years and years ago before Xbox came into the scene when it was just PlayStation and Nintendo competing against each other and the console race will carry on just fine when Xbox throws in the towel and leaves. If anything the competition between consoles will just revert back to normal.
All the older XB franchises were milked to the limit, never reinvented themselves and have lost all their value. Hopefully these new iterations of Fable, Halo, Gears and so on will take bigger risks to modernize and appeal to a larger and younger audience.

I suspect they built a tech demo of combat evolved to show proof of concept that halo can be made on ue5. Really hoping with this change announced they’ve been developing a remaster of the original halo and announced sooner rather than later.
The rumour that's been making rounds since Microsoft started releasing first party games on revival platforms was that 343i is going to remake Combat Evolved using Unreal Engine 5 and it was going to release on PlayStation hardware for the first time ever. That announcement video that they recently showed awhile ago was pretty much a quiet confirmation of that.
This conversation really needs to stop. If Halo moves multi platform, Xbox’s whole identity is done. As a marketer in the industry, this is a terrible idea. Give fans a reason to buy your product.

This would be a great move. I’ve never had a PlayStation, and have no intention of getting one either, but MS need to do something to improve Halo’s longevity and reach. Exclusives are annoying af these days, and not worth it now that cross play is the norm.

As a die hard halo and xbox fan, after getting a ps5 and using the controller please put halo on ps5, the controller is perfect for good first person shooters, I was always a xbox controller fan boy but can't go back now, I even play halo on cloud gaming with my ps5 controller and its great

Put halo multiplayer on PlayStation as a free to play and the story keep on Xbox for the Xbox fans. Now it gives a reason for the people that care but also gives them the multiplayer bag that they actually care about

The problem with all of this is whats the point of owning an xbox then? Microsoft keeps trying to say well xbox has game pass, consumers aren't stupid its obvious that gamepass will also eventually come to other consoles, especially now that ppl will see there is no reason to own an xbox and sales will drop further. Especially when in this day consoles are more expensive than ever before, there is no reason to own more than 1 if the games will come to the other in 6 months. The follow up problem is then that without xbox playstation essentially has a hold over high end console gaming and can price consoles however they want because they don't have competition. i.e. PS5 Pro costing $700

If PlayStation keeps making these high budget AAAs that only sell about 5 million copies, they will start putting games on other platforms. We're already in the beginning of this with PS games going to PC, Lego Horizon and sorta with MLB.

maybe Xbox should have different labels, like ‘Xbox Anywhere’ label of multiplayer and community based games and ‘Xbox Elite Experiences’ with the single player games only available on Xbox

Nowadays the only company that makes sense for their games to be exclusive is Nintendo. If Sony released their games on PC day 1 they would sell much more than if they were released 2 years later, as happened with Helldivers 2, the same with Xbox.
Halo on PlayStation was always a red line for Xbox fans, and many said that Xbox would be dead to them the moment Halo came to PlayStation. It was incredibly amusing to watch how even hardcore Xbox fans slowly changed their minds in light of Microsoft's move towards a multiplatform strategy. Today, suddenly, they all think it's great. Microsoft can do whatever they want with you, and you'll still defend everything.

Not going to lie. I'm an Xbox guy. In my first learned about them giving away all of our exclusives, I was really mad and salty. But when you step back and see that Microsoft is losing to Sony and Nintendo badly, And there's literally no clear answer in the foreseeable future to get anybody to buy an Xbox. What else can they do? I believe they have a strategy and they're going to execute it. I'm perfectly fine with them putting all of our exclusives over on PlayStation and switch. There's no point in owning an Xbox anymore.
Halo on Playstation or not is screwed due to its developers.

The games Microsoft owns will sell incredibly well on PlayStation. And it will attract interest to Game Pass. So buy a PS6, get Game Pass and a Switch 2. That's what I'll be going with next generation. Maybe I'll get the Xbox handheld because it's a new territory for Xbox and they might do a good job. And there is PC which I'm actively trying to get more into.

After buying Bethesda and ABK Microsoft has done as if the 2016-17 Warriors quit the season without playing after getting Kevin Durant or the 2020-21 Bucs after getting Tom Brady, AB and Gronk... its a shame to see. If Halo, Gears of Forza are ported to PS they should just go 3rd party, stop wasting resources on hardware.
Sounds like Microsoft should leave Halo alone and make some new IPs, this is what Sony does and that comes with its own set of problems, but it appears to be the better option for the long run
