    An updated version of this video is now available! ruclips.net/video/yjh4lEwoN2E/видео.html
    It adds Quantumania, Guardians 3, and Secret Invasion + Incorporates the corrections below (and many others tweaks)
    CORRECTIONS (To be implemented when/if I do any updated version):
    - Captain America: Winter Solider + Civil War- Sharon Carter is NOT Peggy's daughter. She is Peggy's grandniece (also known as greatniece)
    - Avengers: Endgame - When Rogers and Stark went to 1970, they were after the SPACE stone, not the POWER stone
    - Pronunciation of Romanoff and M'Baku
    - At the start of the "Wakanda is Formed" chapter, it should be "*millions of years later", 'billions of years later"
    ---
    Wow! Can’t believe this video is finally out. It’s something I’ve thought about making ever since I released that Spider-Man Recap way back before No Way Home (ruclips.net/video/nQL896SVVAo/видео.html). After that video, I thought about my next big recap. Some suggested the MCU and it felt like a natural next step but I also knew it would be a huge project.
    So, it had to go on the backburner thanks to some other OneTake priorities (like Better Call Saul’s final season! And wow… Still can’t believe that show is over).
    Anyway, after my Halloween project, I finally decided to focus on the big MCU Recap. I got especially excited for it when I had the idea to do it in chronological order, rather than just a straightforward recap. I’m a big fan of puzzling things out / seeing how they fit together (if you couldn’t figure that out from my Dark or Raised by Wolves content haha) so I knew it’d be a fun project to see how well all the MCU content actually fits on a timeline.
    A few notes on the timeline if you’re curious:
    WHY DID I EXCLUDE AGENTS OF SHIELD, DAREDEVIL, ETC?
    As you can see, this video only covers the movies and the Disney+ shows (excluding “What If” since so far that series has been relegated outside the main timeline). Although shows like Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Runaways, etc are “canon”. They’re mostly one-way canon. Meaning, they’ve existed outside or between the cracks of the mainline movies but don’t actually impact or push those movies forward in any way. In fact, until recently, the shows were all handled by a separate entity within Marvel entirely.
    Now, everything is under Kevin Feige’s authority (or K.E.V.I.N… lol) so the shows and movies are much more closely linked. In fact, at Disney events, when Feige shows the upcoming slate of movies for a phase, the shows are actually included. So, to truly understand the entirety of the MCU that “matters” for movie-continuity, so far… It seems like you need to know the story of the movies + the Disney+ shows.
    And… Let’s be honest… Including ALL the shows would be A LOT to cover. I’m not saying it’s out of the question for the future, but in terms of understanding the main events of the MCU. I think we have it covered in this vid :)
    HOW DID I FIGURE OUT THE CORRECT TIMELINE ORDER?
    First, I have to point out an insane coincidence. Literally, just a few hours ago, as I was putting the finishing touches on this video… Marvel Studios announced they are FINALLY releasing an official timeline. They released one when the first Avengers came out but that only covered Phase 1. Things have obviously gotten way more complicated since then so this is welcome news.
    Until that comes out, how do we determine the right timeline order? A few ways. Sometimes the movies themselves are VERY clear about when something takes place. For example, there will be on-screen titled cards (see Eternals for example) indicating the year. Or, in Endgame, the Avengers time travel to specific moments we saw in the movies and the years are indicated.
    Otherwise, there have also been in-continuity comic books (like Captain America: First Vengeance) which indicate years. There’s also that official timeline released for Phase 1. Beyond that, we can look to clues in the movies themselves or hints dropped in interviews. Looking for those clues and hints, I definitely referred to the MCU Fandom quite a bit (marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/) where the community has done an amazing job diving into the weeds of these movies but there are still many areas where there’s room for debate. In those cases, I had to make judgment calls.
    When all else fails, Disney+ recently added a feature where you can watch the MCU in timeline order. I say “when all else fails” because they’ve changed the order there a few times so you can’t always take that page as gospel either.
    Anyway, as you dig into the details, you find that the movies are internally contradictory. For example, throughout Iron Man, which came out in 2008, there are plenty of references to it taking place in 2008. Then Iron Man 2 is said to take place 6 months later… But, it takes place during Thor and Incredible Hulk which we know takes place in 2010. So, we have to assume that Iron Man retroactively takes place in 2009.
    The list goes on! If there’s interest, I may do a sort of “supplemental” video to this one, going into more of the details of piecing together the timeline and the various judgment calls I made where there’s room for debate. Though, like I said, that may soon be unnecessary if the official timeline clears things up!
    I NOTICED A MISTAKE IN YOUR VIDEO!
    Feel free to let me know about it in the comments! I may re-release the video in the future and expand it as we get into Phase 5. At that point, I can incorporate corrections.

      This video looks amazing I just want to say and I'm very excited to watch but before I do I feel like taking the newest information is usually right when deciding things (unless blatantly wrong). For example civil war obviously takes place in 2016 and in that film vision mentions that iron man revealed himself 8 years ago, putting iron man back in 2008. Again great video, you may have even mentioned that I wouldn't know as I haven't seen the whole thing yet. Thank youuuu

    Wow. I'm impressed. I am going to be watching this in chunks and in my first half hour of viewing I only noticed one omission, and it's a very minor one. In November 1971, Asgardian prince Loki, using the alias "DB Cooper", hijacked an airplane and escaped by way of parachute after losing a bet to his brother Thor.

    • @turtletrekker86
      @turtletrekker86 Год назад +10

      Hmm. I think there's a missed opportunity in between Doctor Strange and Civil War to utilize footage from the magnificent "What is grief?" scene from WandaVision. It's the only clip that shows their nascent relationship developing before they are separated in Civil War.
      These are not criticisms, they are suggestions from a fan for the update you mentioned. :)

    • @turtletrekker86
      @turtletrekker86 Год назад +4

      I don't think "freezing" is the right terminology to describe what the Eternals did to Tiamat. "Transmuted" is perhaps more accurate. The rumors are that the plots of the next Captain America movie and the Thunderbolts movie will revolve around various powers attempting to obtain mineral rights to Tiamut's corpse.

    • @turtletrekker86
      @turtletrekker86 Год назад +4

      I've made it as far as Hawkeye, and it occurs to me that depending upon how things play out in Daredevil Born Again, it may become necessary to insert the events of Daredevil into your timeline in a future update.
      My only other thought at this point is that the scene from Falcon and Winter Soldier where Bucky is freed from his programming would make a good insert somewhere before Infinity War.
      Really enjoying this journey so far even though I've seen all of the material in question.

    • @turtletrekker86
      @turtletrekker86 Год назад +5

      Wow. What an incredible piece of work. You should be proud of yourself. Now that I've reached the end, the only suggestions I can make for your phase five update are the three presented above. The bit with Loki in 1971 is mostly just a bit of fun, but it serves to remind the audience that the Asgardians are still there in the story and that we will be coming back to them. The "what is grief" moment from WandaVision is the beginning of Wanda and Vision's romantic journey together and is it important part of their narrative. Likewise with the flashback to what kinda with Bucky in Falcon and Winter Soldier. That moment is an important part of Bucky's ark and should be included in the main narrative.
      That's it. The effort you put into this has earned yourself a subscriber in me. I look forward to new content.

    Fantastic work. A couple mistakes.. (Sharon Carter is not Peggy’s daughter in the MCU).. But a clear and concise narrative!
    Opinion: It would have served the narrative had you included Agents of shield and the street level heroes Daredevil, Cage, Jones. Though small, they are part of the tapestry.
    But, of course, it would have added more time to the edit. (And I’m sure you had your reasons for not including them)
    You held my attention for 5hours, listening to a story I know like the back of my hand, from the books to the screen.
    FANTASTIC JOB! 👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Im so grateful ❤to you for for putting in all this time and effort to put this masterpiece that in itself deserves to be an actual MARVEL Disney+ Plus documentary series. Thank you so much for telling the Marvel story so professionally along with all the movie scenes to help move the themes and timeliness along. Out of curiosity why did you have Love & Thunder and Moon Knight in 2025 instead of 2024? With the moon being a great indicator of the time of year for Moon Knight and with it originally supposed to release after Love & Thunder before removing easter eggs like Gorr killing a few of the gods. This was the only weird change that I noticed as others like Shang-Chi and FATWS are close enough to swap and Werewolf by Night and the Guardians Holiday Special not having enough info to make out which comes first

    • @OneTakeVids
      @OneTakeVids  Год назад +8

      Those were two cases where I decided to follow the Disney+ Timeline Order. I definitely debated it for a while and had drafts of the video where I put them in 2024, but ultimately I didn't find the evidence compelling enough. For example, the producer on Moon Knight made it clear they had a date/year in mind and the moon phases were intentional. However, he also points out that they let go of whatever timeline placement they had in mind because it ultimately wasn't up to them. It up was up to the powers that be at Marvel Studios. So, to me, moon phase tells you where the creators of Moon Knight intended for the show to land... But, doesn't tell you where it lands by decree of Marvel Studios. And ultimately, I think the latter is what will "matter" (I.e., if another show or movie were to reference the events of Moon Knight, it would be based on the placement decided by whoever makes such decisions at Marvel).
      I'm definitely open to other ideas though! So, if someone points out some compelling evidence or reasoning that I missed, I would move the order around in my next update (i.e., when I add the next Ant-Man and the Wasp to the timeline!). And who knows how things will look in September when the official timeline comes out!
