You have a lot of standing waves in your booth. It sounds muffled. I have the same problem. Try it out in an bigger room. Outside of the reverb, it will sound much better. Use the Waves Clarity dereverb and it will sound like you’re in a high quality studio. You have a great voice.

I have to say that Stellar sounds best - this microphone is a real insider tip - I've already ordered one!

The stellar x2 vintage really takes the sibilance to my ears

haha. You should hear the original Stellar X2. :P

@@Dracomies whoops! It was supposed to say tames. Like it makes it better. The original stellar did have some sibilance though I agree

@@JonathanDano OH haha! Yeah this one is much less sibilant compared to the old school Stellar X2. I think it's only flaw is .........it's too close in price to a lot of the $299 microphones and there's a LOT of good ones in that pricerange. ie. Aston Origin, AT 4040, a used E100s, a used Shure KSM32 for $300 on Reverb.com, a Warm 47Jr, LCT 440 Pure....lot of competition. If this microphone was at $180, it'd sell very easily. $270 ....they got some competition.

@@Dracomies agreed it has a lot of really strong competition. I have a 440 pure myself, but I'm just not sure it's quite right for my voice. I sit a bit higher on the register, I would call myself a tenor but definitely a high baritone. When I'm doing voice overs I find myself using the de-esser a lot and needing to increase the bass frequencies a little to sound the way I want. I was looking at getting an extra mic to just have as a back up and to switch out for different projects. Any thoughts on the Shure sm27 or the Roswell mini k47? Bandrews review of the mini k47 sounded pretty good. He called it smooth and really tapers off the higher frequencies to help with the sibilance so that was my next choice. I was looking at the Shure as well because it looked to have a little bit boosted bass

@@JonathanDano Get the KSM32 if you're a tenor. You can find them for cheap on Reverb.com and they are imo at the level of microphones that are much more expensive. Also if you use Amazon and you have Amazon prime, check out the Warm 47JR. It has free returns and free shipping. It's worth a shot to check it out and see if you like it. Both those microphones are very good for rounding out male vocals if you're more tenor-ish. LCT 440 Pure is better for baritone and bass actors imo.

nice review I felt like mkh416 & NTG 5 were the best on your voice
maybe it is because they're among the others kinda good in less than ideal spaces
but overall steller x 2 is not bad, but not my favourite

The NTG5 is surprisingly quite amazing! I love it! It rounds out a lot of the flaws of the 416. Basically for anyone who doesn't like the 416 they'll like the NTG5. I think overall the Stellar X2 Vintage> Stellar X2 for my voice. The Stellar X2 (original) which I reviewed a long time ago I recall was a lot more thin-sounding.

Also agree on the space. I use the TLM 103 in another booth and it's much better. It's a hassle setting up video in there though.

tlm 103 and Stellar vintage very similar. As it was I prefer the Stellar!

I actually do like the Stellar X2 Vintage mic quite a bit. I just think it has a strange pricepoint, it's dangerously close to so many other good mics at its price. :P
