It's a shame he'll never get to reprise his roles in Remedy's Quantum Break series and in Guerilla Games Horizon series. As Mr. Hatch and Sylens respectively. I just hope whoever has to replace him, has got the same talent he had for voice work.
I was genuinely shocked and saddened when Lance Reddick passed away. He’s brilliant in so many roles be it Charon, the Chief of Police in Bosch, The Wire, The Guest …. and I’m only scratching the surface. R.I.P. Lance, we are blessed that you shared your acting talents with the world.
I saw Lance Reddick at a grocery store in Los Angeles last year. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

RIP Lance Reddick. I only saw his performance in the 4th John Wick movie and his dying words left a mark. Recently saw all the other movies and made it appreciate him oh so much more. And loved the Marquis being that someone we instantly hate, with no qualms. Just a power hungry guy who got what came to him.
*I have never had an emotional reaction in a cinema but I shouted you bastard when Charon got shot. I had no idea Reddick had passed until after seeing the movie so it was a genuine shock to see him go out like that.*

The interesting thing, and one of the only failures of the fourth movie, is that they set the Marquis up to be a truly amazing villain, only to waste it all on making him an insufferable dilettante who insulated himself with paid and indebted flunkies.
Not a twist of fate. An artistic choice. Lance knew his passing was soon at that time. He chose to have his final portrayal on screen be the death of his character. Poetic, in a sense. He *chose* when and how his character died. He *owned* his fictional death.

If they had just said that John killed Santino in defence of killing Gianna originally, they would've tried to find a solution. Yes, Wick displayed blatant disregard for the Table and much more, but as it stands even though perhaps the Table saw Gianna's death as a challenge from Santino, it is quite unacceptable. Or they didn't know. Where is the next in line heir to the Camorra family's seat in the High Table? But seeing how Wick killed two powetful figures in the Camorra which dealt a huge injury to the Table, perhaps all of that was nonsensical to them. They wanted blood, irregardless of the truth about the situation. In Chapter 2, Wick should've told Winston the truth. That Santino made him killed Gianna, and that alone should open up alot of doors rather.
Lane Died before he could even see the final cut of the movie. I wonder how far into the movie he passed. As disrespectful as some people would see it i think Charons funeral like parts of his real funeral should've been in the movie as an homage. To him. Just thinking out loud.
To think, his character showed unquestionable loyalty and grace yet was killed just to make a point. I mean, the vision couldn't have just chosen any one of his flunked instead of choosing someone who's been so valuable to the Continental?
imagine in the end of this film, they could torture him more for killing the concierge since they had to reinstate and rebuild the continental since john won the duel and there is no concierge, would be nice a nice story.
No one saw it coming. But likely the jab got to him as there was evidence of Riddick being very vocal about being pro-vaccine. There are many out there that did not react well to it.
