The video shows the wrong direction (2:29) for my impellor; I have a BF30D and it needs to be installed counter-clockwise into the housing. Check your own engine's manual as it may be different.
The impeller needs to installed clockwise on the shaft, the gear needs to be in reverse before your start to dissamble the gearshifter and taking apart the lower unit. You need to grease up the impeller and the pump lining. This guy doesn't know what he is doing. The waterpump may fail if you do it this way.
I have A question …. I appreciate the video content for sure and I did grease the housing etc… my motor still won’t pee! I have blow air down from pee hole and it comes out metal tube that goes into water jacket so I know it’s not blocked there. I can’t blow air up from lower unit thru water jacket tho. Not sure if that’s a proper test but I’d sure appreciate so tips on troubleshooting pls!!! TIA
@@gessinmx132 Connect a waterhose to the "metal tube" that goes into the waterjacket. If it doesn't work then you have a blockage inside the motor. If it does work then your waterpump is not working for some reason.
@@davidnorth6541 thx! I did something similar and confirmed no blockage upstream from lower unit. The issue was located in lower unit. A weird bug made a mud nest. Small but a few of them got scraped out. It’s working properly now! Thx!!!
Ralph E Not really. It’s just trial and error. I’ll start with the shifter in neutral and the gear case in neutral. If it try’s to grind a little move the shifter to see which way it needs adjusted and turn the adjustment screw about 1/2 a turn until it’s where you want it. I usually get min close then start it to “fine tune” I guess you’d say.
atypicalvietguy check the line where the water comes out. Ive seen dirt dobbers fill that hose. Other than that I’d check to make sure the pumps fins aren’t the wrong way and that you have a key in the shaft to make the pump turn. And the pick-up line isn’t clogged or closed with the washer type seal at the pump.
Found the problem, changed out the impeller few times before so I know it’s not the direction of the impeller. The hose was the first thing I checked. The problem was broken impeller fins clogged up cylinder head cooling circuit.
Thanks so much. At 72 I have more time than money and your video is priceless. Others, be sure you read the comments... food for thought
Thank you, very instructive. Thanks to you, I managed to shift the impeller, a little bit scary though for an amateur
You need to lubricate the impeller and house before inserting it
What happens if the nut that has the back down in front of the connecting rod won't back down enough to make the rod disconnect
You're showing a change of the impeller and Woodruff key what did you replace below them?

Sorry for long terrible explanation of the problem 😂. Is air supposed to flow freely from lower u it thru impeller and out pee hole on top of motor?
Surprised you found the 10mm socket lol
You should update your video, its counterclockwise not clockwise. You installed the impeller clockwise.
got any instructions on adjusting the shift linkage?

Replaced the impeller and gasket but still water pressure is low, please help

It actually clogged up where the hose connects to the cylinder
@@atypicalvietguy how did you unclog
