Whitney has an AMAZING, POWERFUL voice. She is spectacular in every way. BUT...................when it comes to THIS song, NO ONE, BUT NO ONE, can pour as much heart and soul into it as Dolly can!
In my opinion, two of country music's greatest & both are great humanitarians to their fellow man. Vince has the sweetest voice for singing ballads. And what can you say about Dolly? She's DOLLY!
Vincent's secret punch of delight at 01:33 makes this worthwhile. He's got the best seat in the house. Always a memorable partnership for a beautiful song.
I love this song and I love Dolly Parton, she is such a sweet woman and she got such a soft voice. The day she is not here anymore I will totally cry my heart out
I have been a huge fan of this song since it came out mnay years ago. I was a little girl...and it's melted my heart all theses years! Thank you Dolly!
this is adorable, they both sound together perfectly. i must mention how much i love dramatic entrances of Dolly when she sings in duet, in the middle of the song, luv this
This is simply amazing. I was in floods of tears. The photos and videos you selected were perfection. Such a beautiful tribute to Dolly and to what must certainly be the most beautiful song ever written. You are truly talented.
You did such a wonderful job putting this video together. I wish they were all asprofessional as you have made this one. I love Dolly and Vince did well with this one song, but that was probably due to Dolly.
When an artist chooses Vince Gill for a duet partner, it never fails to amaze me for the beauty in the result. It is no wonder Vince has been requested for duets of over 500 vocal and instrumental. I have never cared for this song while Dolly sang it by herself because, to me, while her voice is very beautiful but too much of begging like sound. By adding Vince, to her credit to experiment, it finally succeeded to really bring out how this song should have been interpreted.
Dolly & Vince do the best version I've ever heard. And it makes it even moreso the best, since she wrote it & knows how the composer (herself) meant it!! ;) I heard a version of Connie Talbot & Whitney Houston (cut-&-pasted together) & I tried to say that it was good but that this (above ^) was a better version & got shot down =P but I still think these guys do it better. & she wrote it for Porter Wagoner, not for "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". =) just to clarify... =)
Love the admiration Vince so obviously has for Dolly - These pictures are great so many I hadn't seen before - would love to know where you got hold of those, if you dare to share I would b so happy to trade : )
Great song. Hearing a male sing this just makes me wish more that Elvis recorded this song. Too bad the publishing issues were not figured out. Only makes you wonder what could have been.
I will never get over the way Laura left me, and you can see her in a 4pt series I have posted. 3of 4 is Laura: Love of my life. I will always love you anyway.
@chicagovidmaker Just wanted to reiterate hillybillyprofane's comment. I, too, am a hillbilly and I, too, know when something is good. You did good Chicago, you did really GOOD!

One of my favourite renditions of all time!
never in this world will there ever be a better duet.
To me this is the best version of this song EVER.
The respect and chemistry is undeniable. This was an incredible display of vocal magic. God bless both of them.
Brilliant version. No one can sing this song like Dolly. This duet was awesome. Liked the way you put those clips together.
Vince Gill should make a single singing the whole song. He can really sing high. His voice has a bell like clarity.
2 of the purest voices in music ........ ever

Beautiful. You have great editing skills. I loved seeing the clips of her singing that throughout the years.
They both sang it really good, it depends about your taste if you should like it!

Adding to my comment, this performance won the CMA award as the best duet.
