Playing this right now and thinking of my oldest son who passed away 7 years ago. I know he is at peace now..but I miss him dearly ❤❤❤
My brother was in an induced coma at the end of his battle with colon cancer. After 3 days vigil at his bedside I began to play a few songs from my phone on his pillow. This was the 4th song played and during the very last chord he took a deep breath and went home to be with the Lord. I know the timing was a direct witness from God to show me and those who hear this story that God is real. Keep the faith in peace and understanding.

My grandma, or Memaw as I called her, passed away yesterday, 6/18/24. The night before, we had a mix of Jesus music playing on her tv so her room would be filled with the presence of the Lord as she prepared to go home. I left the room for a few minutes, and when I came back, this song started. I instantly fell to my knees by her bed and just sobbed as I held her hand. This will always be my song for her. I love you, Memaw!

My brother died of suicide in 1991. We had both witnessed our dad's suicide in 1957 when my brother was 3 and I was 7. This was devastating to me. When they committed these acts they both were 38 years old. Then I heard this song by Vince Gill. My dad and brother were both buried in our family cemetery on top of a hill in West Virginia. This song made me cry. I know the pain has to leave so the joy of the Lord comes in. My brother believed in God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. I hope he went to heaven.

I painfully watched my wife take her last breath in her palliative care bed as she battled breast cancer with metastasis to her brain on 31st July 2023. It pains till today to have seen her that way yet i could not do anything to stop it. The innocence of her children asking me when their mother will come back really breaks me to the core. I couldn't imagine, but I have a clue of what you're going through. Lost my mom on 8-7-2023. My children, "her grandchildren," ask all the time about her and how she's up in heaven. I am quickly loosing BOTH my parents to Dementia, AFIB, Cancer, Parkinson's, etc. And I am just as tired as both of them. My father passed away April 19 2024, the man always said play this at his funeral. The man fought lung cancer for 3 years it was discovered during a triple bypass surgery. The man was 67 years old at that time broken down from decades upon decades of hard manual labor. He worked his ass off to raise 4 kids on his own when my mother abandoned us. After that triple bypass he couldn’t work anymore so we lived off his social security and I got a full time job and dropped out of highschool my junior year to help pay the bills and make it easier on dad. I continued to do that even after I moved out last year in February. My father caught that cancer tooth and nail, But it beat him in the end. I lost my mama 4yrs ago and my big brother not even a year later. My daddy passed 13 years ago but it seems just like yesterday. They were my best friends. We all would talk every day sometimes more or I’d just drive over there to see them. Now I find out yesterday my auntie has stage 4 cancer! I feel like I’m dying inside an my chest hurts so bad it feels like my heart is being ripped out of my chest.😭😭Once she’s gone my 3 cousins an their children , there will only be me an my 3 cousins and only two boys to carry on our last name a very unique family name of ANSITE! So it’s a blessing to our little family to keep our family name to carry it on and I’m so sad that our family name may get lost for ever.😢😢😢 I’m the oldest out of us all and so. I will be put in place as the new monarch of our small family. We need prayers for our little family so if you believe in Jesus will you please pray for us? I’m so so sorry for you an your family’s loss. I will be praying for you and your family. 🙏🙏🙏 god bless your family and he will be walking with you all while you an your family our grieving.

Tears are flowing while I try to write this. My mother raised me as a single parent in the 50s and 60s. She worked in a cotton mill for 8 hours a day and still found time to be a wonderful parent. She passed away several years ago after battling cancer and this song describes her life perfectly. She is resting now after a life of hard times. God bless her and those like her!!

And after fighting PTSD for years...to die from the effects of Agent Orange. He died with such Dignity, and Faith. I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this. The loss of a child is so hard & unnatural. We lost our oldest daughter years ago & it's still hard. I served 25 years in the Army & I can't believe it's been almost 20 years since I was medically retired due to injuries on deployment. We become close & have a bond that defies description. I always hated when I had to box up one of my soldier's belongings because he had been killed. All young & barely starting out in life. I've served at 356 military funerals & loss of loved ones means that I've heard that song so many times & it always touches my heart every time I hear it. I pray that God blesses & comforts you.

I lost my grandmother about 30 years ago and every year around the anniversary time I always get emotional because other than my mother she was the most important woman in my life and I miss her very much she had an inoperable heart condition and bled to death internally. I was only 4 months out of graduating high school yeah that was the last event that I saw her at before she died in the hospital! I feel sorry for the ones that never get to tell their loved ones that they love them ever again and and weren't able to tell them while they were alive. Folks never miss a chance to tell the folks that you love that you love them because you never know if you're going to get another chance!

I lost my great-aunt 3 days ago. She was 86 (I believe...I always get her age confused with her 2 living sisters, one being my grandmother), she was always the life of the party, she was silly, generous and loving. I sat in the hospital with her for 2- 1 week stints the first was this past March and this last week. I am so grateful for the time that I was given. I've been blessed to have known her and spent time with her. She had a very difficult life, but she always had a smile on her face. She lead many family members to Jesus. I know that she is with Him now and is no longer in pain, but it doesn't take away the pain of missing her.

I've always loved country music...whether it's Gospel, Country Rock....anything country (yes....even Willy Nelson)! In my family....we were 4 siblings....all 1 year apart! My brother Frank and I were the closest as were 11 months apart!!! He was my hero!!! We were a bonded pair!! He was a country music lover who always sang and played guitar around the campfire, in the house....anywhere he found solitude!! He was self taught...never had one lesson and no one, not even my father, played guitar! He just watched others play and picked it up!
Frank passed away 3 years ago from a rare brain cancer! He was given 3 months to live but fought really hard and passed 5 months after being diagnosed!! While watching Country Throwback videos on TV....this exact video came on!!! I put the volume as high as it would go and cried my eyes out! Not only was I still grieving....I recognized that it was a sign from Frank that he's still watching over me!!! Ibfelt sad and blessed at the same time! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with the world Vince Gill!!!!!
A week or so before my husband's passing, he wrote on a tiny sheet of paper "Go rest high on that mountain, by Vince Gill". He handed it to me asking that I post it on the fridge in case I needed it. My sister and her husband sang it at his funeral. I will cherish that tiny note forever. Thanks Vince...I could swear you wrote it for him.

@@sriley53sr Thank you. Something random. I was hoping to view my mum at the funeral directors but due to arranging the celebration of life after the cremation I couldn't make it. I was upset at the time but on reflection, seeing her and saying goodbye to her with all her family around her on the day she died is a lot more important.
She died of old age, Alzheimer's and diabetes. I remember the first thing that happened was that she wet herself and she cried and said that she was so ashamed to do that in front of me. I told her not to be silly. From then on the mother that I knew slowly died. At the end she was bed ridden and in so much pain I guess her body decided enough was enough.
I miss her so much but at the same time am glad that she isn't suffering anymore. Dad is heart broken but the family is rallying around him (I'm so proud of us). Looking after mum has taken so much out of dad it's crazy, but I don't think he would have it any other way.
Dad married mum in 1962 and they raised three sons, one daughter and a nephew
(I love you like a brother Norman). She also fostered many kids, though I thought it strange at the time that these random kids would be staying at the house, here today and gone tomorrow.
I never appreciated how hard life was for her and dad (and just got on with it and then some) but raising a family of my own I do now. Thank you mum for all you've done to make me who I am and for giving me a wonderful and loving childhood and an awesome family. I love you so much. I miss you mum.

Im sorry for your loss
In a few days I will lay to rest my older brother and my younger brother. They passed just five days apart. The oldest died of smoking, drinking and a hard lifeof 76 years. My younger brother died of drug abuse and alcohol. He was only 61. This song hit me square in the heart. Helps me to deal with the loss.

This song was played at my grandfather's military funeral and he was only 79 years old when he died on February 5th, 2019 and he was in the navy and was in the Cuban Missile Crisis and in the Cold War also he was a coal miner back in the day and me and my family really miss him so much and thanks Vince Gill.
I’m going to have the hardest time singing this song at my wife’s funeral. After all she’s been thru, she deserves a sweet song like this…and she gave herself to the the Lord

I my name is sonja. I to have and my family have recently been the victims of losing a loved one due to sustance abuse and gun viloence. This has been a humungas tragedy in our lives. My family has literally came to a hault. They are literally falling a part. We lost the glue that held us all together. He left behind three sisters. All of us handling his death in so many different ways. Then my parents r both falling apart at the seams. Trying to take over as parents all over again because my father promised my brother before he took his last breath that he would take care of his kids. Mom has cancer her amune system is low. She is quick to get namonia. Swollen eyes coughing allergies, Arthritus, everything imaginable medically wrong with her that could possibly wrong with her, she has it. My dad fighting his own demands. Everybody tryin to mask the with some sort of addiction or another. We are all struggling to put the pieces back together one day at a time. Anybody out there have any useful advice in order to help my family.

2 family friends of mine were killed in a car crash a few months ago when they were on their way home from church. They were t-boned than the car flipped and hit a pole. They died in the crash and this was played at the funeral and every time I hear it I’m reminded of them
