Well, that is how it was done before auto tune. To be fair tho, you do have to have some talent to get noticed. We just running short on it right now.
People scoffed at singers needing microphones to reach a crowd with their voices when they first came out. Regular plain old microphones made your voice sharper and stronger too.
Every generation has its way of doing things. Crying for the past really does nothing but make you miserable. THere is a lot of talent in today's singers; stop looking to the mass media famous folk and start looking at the small singers. The ones with just a few followers but who sound like gold.
