Very nice view of the plants…looks like a great place to take a walk…and just allow some lovely memories to come and go. Hoping your car is ok. Thank you for the beautiful scenery. Hugs. 🫶🍀🌿🍃🌿🌱☘️
Such a peaceful walk.. Lovely to have beautiful memories of when you were little. I have wonderful memories of sitting with my Mum and Dad at the kitchen table enjoying Mums tasty cooking. Those days have gone now. I didn’t know then how precious those memories would be. Take Care.. hope your car repair went well xx
What a lovely walk way through all the green plants.such a sweet word; elderberry wine. Isn’t there a song about it. ? Thank you Dee, as always; blessings ❤❤
That takes me back a bit too. I am originally from the Northwest UK and my father used to tuck into tripe and onions but I never liked it at all! I have eaten nettle soup a few times though as I had a lovely Dutch friend who often made it. The secret, I believe, is to pick only young and tender leaves. Thank you for the time to reminisce.
Pigs Trotters... cooked from the butchers in the market.. I had a craving for them when I was pregnant with my eldest daughter... brought back a lot of memories there Dee, I'm 68 was brought up in Birkenhead which used to be part of Cheshire at present living in PA... it's 34 c in the shade... I've never seen a 'nettle ' here.. Thank You 🌻
Morning Dee. My mother used to cook stewing lamb slowly until the meat just fell off the bone. She used to keep the dripping from the Sunday roast, and we'd eat it for tea with bread and salt. And a spoonful of cod liver oil with malt! ❤❤❤
I found a cookbook in one of our neighborhood lending libraries that goes back to the more traditional foods, including all the organ meat, which you rarely see in stores anymore. I'm interested to try a lot of it but it will depend, as you said, on how available things are
I'm pretty sure nettles are considered a super food. They have good protein and other nutrients. Very yummy! Nettle tea! I'll try some today. Great idea!
That was a very chilled little stroll Dee and relaxing stories 💖 I hope your car is ok - I am having a shed delivered and installed today - making me anxious i confess 🤞it goes smoothly ❤
Good afternoon Dee, from sunny Zakynthos (I’m on holiday) It was lovely hearing your food memories, how different the food seems to be between North and South England! I was raised by a single Mum who was a war baby and we ate well as she always knew how to get the best from so called cheaper cuts of meat that others would avoid. We often had Lamb’s hearts, liver, bacon and onions, scrag end of lambs neck etc and after hours of cooking was delicious and went far for pennies. I think I’d draw the line at tripe and cow heel and the dreadful spam 🤢 but my (now grown up children) and I still eat pretty much anything including what I had when I was young, although I cook my liver with red wine and definitely not for hours! My children have never been fussy eaters and are just as thrifty and can cook very well, including my boys. I truly believe that restaurants shouldn’t offer rubbish to children and should just offer smaller portions of the adult food. Thank you for showing me the lushness of home, sadly it’s too hot 🥵 here for that although the clear, turquoise and blue bath water warm sea makes up for that!🤣
I am going brown - but not a sun tan - it's rust! It was good to learn how to cook. I once worked with a 20-something old lass who was very much over-weight on a diet of pizza, pizza and more pizza. I asked if she could cook - yes - in very offended tone. I asked what she cooked - beans on toast. We talked about whaat she may like to try cooking from scratch - spag bol. So I went through it with her in great detail - and gave her a shopping list. Next week she came back and said she had cooked from scratch - she had fried the mince - then added a jar of spag bol sauce! Have a good holiday. D
Hi Dee, I'm happy to see you walking, I know you told us you missed it. I am having a stressful week on a severe level, and I cannot sleep. I am doing what I can with what is within my control to problem solve. But insomnia... is a trickster. It is a strange phenomenon of being so exhausted and when it's time for bed the mind says "ha ha I wont let you!" Id love your thoughts on insomnia and how to work with (or against?) it. Beautiful greenery....
Perhaps offset the future topic of insomnia that also goes from the degree of no sleep vs too much sleep. I suffer from both at times. It is quite frustrating to say the least😅
@@Cheshirelass Yes, thank you for the wee warning. Lol! Isn't it great how we're all so different? And even greater is that we can still cherish each other regardless.
Ive been vegetarian for years but years ago my friend's mother made dinner and it was tripe. I had one mouthful and thought I was going to be sick. The texture was awful. 🤢- Frances

Without work there is no food.
