We listened to the widest variety of music in history in the 1970's from Ray Charles from the fifties and of course my dad's big band era records, to Werewolves of London, Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting, to Eagles Best of My Love, Beatles songs, The Carpenters, Tiny Tim, and some of the greatest one hit wonders ever! That didn't even include all the heavy superstar Rock Bands Like Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin it became music overload. There were just so many amazing bands and performers. I found Hendrix too unbelievable!

This song is from later in their career in the 70s, but they were a group that was more from the early/mid 60s. I already gave you a whole spiel about Motown, and I don't think they were Motown, but it was that era, and singing groups like this were pretty common in the early/mid 60s, where you'd have four or five guys that would represent the different vocal ranges, and do harmonies. You might have the guy that has a super low voice, but you usually had the guy that could do a high falsetto, like Frankie Valli. It was also a thing that one of the guys would be centered out as the lead guy, and you'd have what's his name and the whatevers. This was pretty par for the course for Pop music at that time. Their biggest songs were probably "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry". Which get used in movies and TV a lot. Basically if you're shooting a period piece, and want to set the tone for the time period quickly and easily, there are a handful of usual songs that people go to for different time periods. Like in "Back To The Future", they used "Mr. Sandman", which is a popular to set up that you're in the 50s. So, "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" get used a lot to set up the early to mid 60s. Like, for some reason, "Dirty Dancing" is coming to mind. I've suggested it before, but now you actually do know who Patrick Swayze is, and that movie has lots of music from that era. In fact, so much that they had to release a double soundtrack album, including a song that Patrick Swayze sung himself, called "She's Like The Wind". Which I actually really like, and that you can just react to, if you want.

Hint hint. 🙃😉 Not bad if you like (mostly wholesome) teenage comedy films set in the 50s/60s, great if you like them as musicals. The songs are catchy and fun as hell, so both films are very well worth it. While I reckon most people would say the original (with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John) is the best and fan favorite, I have to say I am partial to Grease 2 (with Maxwell Caulfield and future superstar Michelle Pfieffer), largely because of the plot : nerdy exchange student (Caulfield's "Michael", cousin to "Sandy" from the first film) falls for the coolest girl in school (Pfeiffer's "Stephanie", head of the Pink Ladies, who are exclusively girlfriends to the school's "gang", the T-Birds) and transforms himself to be what she desires most : a "cool rider" (one that exceeds even T-Bird standards), and in his efforts, develops a Superman/Clark Kent kind of duality. I myself always failed to impress the girls I liked in school, so this movie was kind of like my vicarious escape. The sequel features only some characters of the original, comprised of members of the school faculty and a few "supporting cast" students (like the "doublemint" twins), save for the return of one main character, "Frenchy" played by Didi Conn, whose iconic voice is recognized across TV and movies, but especially from cartoon characters everywhere during the time. ♫ Grease is the word... This song definitely would not make it into their top 10! Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Cherish, and more were in the 60’s. This must have been in the 70’s! Don’t even remember this song and I have several albums by them, including their greatest hits!! Loved the majority of their songs though!!!😊
