@@xocomaox it’s much better quality than the ones you can get on Amazon. I experienced so much crashing and terrible visual and audio experiences with the original one I bought that I returned it and never did a video on it. The upgrade is pricey, but in my opinion worth it.
thanks for the details on the install! This is definitely something to consider. One question: does the HUD work when using Waze or google maps? thanks!
Just received the BimmerTech MMI Prime box. Am I correct that if you're using the software on that box (i.e. Android Auto) you can't listen to the FM radio? Because you have to select "Aux" as your media input, right? So, if you want to use the Android Auto apps, the only media options are via those AA apps (eg Spotify, Pandora, etc)? I'd also like to know where you routed the USB and HDMI ports so they are accessible after everything is reassembled, that isn't shown in the video.
Thanks for watching! Don’t quote me on this, but I THINK, you can set fm radio on the idrive then move over to the android auto mmi box and it will still be playing. Could be wrong but I think you may be able to do that. Thanks! Yeah I found that super helpful and wanted to share!
Is there something simpler (for example a mmb box, carlinkit to plug into the usb port) to watch youtube, netflix etc. on the go or use the playstore? I have a mini f55 from June 2023 with carplay already installed
What’s the point, you can answer the phone without all this and listen to music on Android via Bluetooth on your mini and use voice control.👀 or just use your phone
Appreciate the tutorial! I was curious if I an MMI box or any android/carplay retrofit would break the functionality of the Holographic Mini Heads up display? was also wondering if it would be possible to install the 8.8 inch display on my non nav 6.5 NBT unit with the MMI box? I dont mind not having touch screen if the idrive controls work
is this possible on electric mini cooper SE? what is ridiculous is it is 2024 and BMW still does not support android auto. my 2015 cooper S has had android auto for many years after I tore out the stereo and bought a chinese one.
Absolutely! Yeah its kinda crazy they dont have an oem option. If you want a system like this, I have a spare and can help you double check if it will fit your car and give you a good deal on it. You can email me or dm me on insta if you are interested
@@carcreationsyt Im in america, have you got your touch screen to work with android auto? I think the bimmer tech one only works with the physical buttons?
@ah4rkt3ch did you purchase and go through with the install? My wife has the same, but I am not 100% sure she will be ok loosing any mini functions with a new install? How did or for your install and use?
Does it automatically switch to rear view camera? i've seen 300-350eur touch screen capable alternatives. This is too expensive, hope it auto switches to rear cam when you put to rever gear.
MMI units that work with the touch aspect part of the screen? I didn't think they worked that way, but maybe I am wrong. It does auto switch to the rear cam.
You said you're located in Canada can you tell me in which city and can you install the Android auto system on my f56 2015 Mini Cooper S? Do you have an email?
I actually just moved to Michigan unfortunately however I can try to help you out if you send me an instagram dm or email. Both should be on my Chanel page
Thinking of doing this? I think there's already cool features on the Original mini dash system. If I add this, do i lose access to the original system? I only was thinking of upgrading simply for Android Auto. But i really do like the option to use the screen and watch something
Thanks for watching! Yeah I agree there is lots of cool features already and you don’t have to worry about loosing them as this just piggybacks off the signal. You just hold down ok on the idrive controller to switch back and forth between the systems.

Your knowledge is fantastic and I imagine you give many people the confidence to fit things themselves, saving a fortune in labour costs.
Thanks so much for watching!! Hope people find them helpful 😅😆
Must be literally the only video on youtube showing LCI2 HU removal. I was clueless until now.
Glad we were able to show it! Yeah I couldn’t find one either!
At that price I'll switch to an iPhone. It's $1k for the kit!
Yeah they are not cheap
@@carcreationsyt Honestly $700 for the non-Pro version of this kit is just way too much for such basic connectivity. I think they could do better.
😮😮😮

Thank you

Does the touchscreen still works while using Android Auto?
Unfortunately it doesn’t. It just uses the display and idrive controller signal
Is there something simpler (for example a mmb box, carlinkit to plug into the usb port) to watch youtube, netflix etc. on the go or use the playstore? I have a mini f55 from June 2023 with carplay already installed
Unfortunately you would have to use something like this
Do I get the car information on the radio still? Like when to change oil etc
It’s just piggybacking off the screen and idrive signal. You still have access to your idrive system when you want it
What’s the point, you can answer the phone without all this and listen to music on Android via Bluetooth on your mini and use voice control.👀 or just use your phone
True, but the amount of people who have reached out asking if this is possible is crazy. Definitely a market for it
How do you get the audio from spotify or soundcloud through the original soundsystem?
Appreciate the tutorial! It shouldnt break that functionality. I think you can upgrade the display however may need some coding.
so this works for the pre-LCI models too?
Make sure you get the nbt version, but yes
Do text come through the android auto system or do you have to use the factory idrive system?
Yeah text messages come through!

Hi does it impact the sound quality? I heard it does
I did not notice anything, but it is definitely possible that it could
Silly question, do you think this would work in a gp3?
Absolutely!
is it posiible to connect wirelss android auto with a dongle in the usb connector in the F56 ?
With the mmipro unit, I think you can connect with USB, however it supports wireless android auto so you should not have to
If I buy a 2024 Mini Countryman will it work with that? Seems like Mini did not change the Entertainment system since last model year.
Yes it will!
Great video! My wifes got a 2020 Countryman, would it work in that?
Absolutely! You can find out for sure if you go to the link in the description and put in your vin.

I have HK in the car, how is the audio quality if you were to use this interface?
I have not tested it but it shouldn’t be too different as I believe hk uses an external amp
