Great, I did the same thing on the 2017 F56. This new system is really different and so much more enjoyable to use. I also changed the digital speedometer and LCI2 turn signals, now it's a new car!
I love those trim piece tools. It makes everything so much easier. But everytime that plastic cracks, I think "oh, no what did I just break?". I would freak out to do that on my own, I am good at things, but my extent of messing with a electrical component is installing puddle lights. You guys are beyond brave.
I did the upgrade on my F60 & coded it. Also to note is the MOST port needs to have the RED light coming out on the side that has the "locking clip".If your MOST cable has not been made well, you then need to switch the cables at the end it plugs into the cluster.There are tiny clips at the back of the MOST cable clip which when raised, will release the MOST cables from their "clip casing".You also may need to raise the white plastic tab, on the other side of MOST clip to release the 2 cables.If your light is coming out from the wrong side, you can do this to correct your MOST cable.Its easier to do this on the side of the Digital cluster, than on the side of HeadUnit.If your MOST cable is not emitting light on the correct cable, the eSys coding software will not be able to find the KOMBI/Digital cluster!.Hope it helps.
Good job. Just a small tip for others. Better not to pull the trims from the air vents that way. Pull the whole vent inc the trim out in one. Takes a bit of wrestling to get them out complete, but saves busting them.
I wish Mini would support the even older cars in the same way. I've got an R60 Countryman and it would be great to get CarPlay without having to go dodgy Android aftermarket. I love the way Porsche is supporting cars all the way back to the 90s.

No worries! Everything does work, except features that require a MINI Connected subscription, however if you had that connected to your car before the upgrade, it would work with this. That is all hosted on BMW's servers so we can't do much about that unfortunately.
I'm interested in learning how the coding is done. Especially to verify the correct resolution, screen size and all that. I can't seem to find information or tutorials. I know it's probably a more complex process, but I really want to learn.

Cool install. 1 did not install a GPS antenna (not a wifi dongle), 2 did not install the OABR connector to be able to code/flash the unit in the car for any future updates. 3. you need to update the BDC to be able to use the themes.. who ever sold the unit to you could at least inform you :)

Hello, thanks for watching! The only way to do it, is to do an oem retrofit. The other way is to get a mmi box and connect it to that. I recently did a video on the android mmi box, that will work for the camera upgrade.

Harmon Kardon works with this! Some people have said that it even sounds better after the upgrade as I guess mini did some changes with these later units

@@carcreationsyt it only happens when the map is shown, the square always overlays the map. So I think that rules out a bad connection. It’s possibly a coding thing but I wouldn’t have the slightest idea where to look…

I upgraded from the Entry Nav to NBT EVO HU head unit.I had to shave the tabs around the USB connector and rotate it 180degrees before i plugged it in.On the display cable, i sliced the power wires from the connector and made them separate>I then rotated the cable 180 degrees just as the usb connector & also plugged in the power cables with the black wire facing forward. Apparently the NBT Evo Display & USB cables are different in pin configuration to the Entry Nav Basic media Head Unit.The above method is just a modification to make the old cables work with the new Head Unit.The USB & Display ports now face and connect from the forward while the rest of cables connect from behind the head unit.
The Aux/USB trim need to be approached by digging/removing the trim around the radio and then working your way downwards.You will encounter a few screws and some strong metal clips before you reach the Aux/USB trim.Not difficult.@@pauljohnson4052

Hi, I'm asking here because I haven't found anything about it and maybe you who know a lot can help me, my f54 has manual climate control, but when unhooking the controls I noticed that they are the same pins as the automatic one, having found one from a mini f54 crashed for little money, I'd be curious to see if it goes the same….can you tell me something about it? maybe our f 54 already has all the sensors needed to do the job in plus and play? Good question! I believe some people have found it to be plug and play. In saying that, I have not heard of any issues. If I were you, they dont cost a lot on ebay, find one and see if you can install it! You wont wreck anything and if it doesnt work, it shouldnt be too hard to add the right equipment. Let me know if it works!

Hi Ethan, i lost my door chimes/seatbelt chime once i got this installed. I also lost the ring circle color as it was. Only time its completely lit up is wen i hit the breaks and it turns red. Normally, only a small piece (bottom left ‘corner’) is green the rest is not lit. At times it shows that same green in the one ‘corner’ and then a yellow or purple section lights up, yes while the bottom right hand corner is still lit….not to mention, the radio doesn’t work :(
If MINI releases an os that is compatible with the old hardware, then yes. However the 2024/25 cars I have seen looks like they will not have compatible software

If I am reading your question right, I believe it is included in the large plug you put into the head unit with all the little cables on it. Not sure of the official name

That's a good question! It came like that with the car so not sure if it was done after the fact. I have seen other cars like that though, so maybe its a trim feature

Some HeadUnits also have additional ports for DAB Radio up & close to where the two FM radio ports exist.
Oh ok, that makes sense. The unit I got didn't have that.

I upgraded from the Entry Nav to NBT EVO HU head unit.I had to shave the tabs around the USB connector and rotate it 180degrees before i plugged it in.On the display cable, i sliced the power wires from the connector and made them separate>I then rotated the cable 180 degrees just as the usb connector & also plugged in the power cables with the black wire facing forward. Apparently the NBT Evo Display & USB cables are different in pin configuration to the Entry Nav Basic media Head Unit.The above method is just a modification to make the old cables work with the new Head Unit.The USB & Display ports now face and connect from the forward while the rest of cables connect from behind the head unit.

Did you have any trouble getting the trim round the idrive and the aux / usb plate back
The Aux/USB trim need to be approached by digging/removing the trim around the radio and then working your way downwards.You will encounter a few screws and some strong metal clips before you reach the Aux/USB trim.Not difficult.@@pauljohnson4052

Hi, I'm asking here because I haven't found anything about it and maybe you who know a lot can help me, my f54 has manual climate control, but when unhooking the controls I noticed that they are the same pins as the automatic one, having found one from a mini f54 crashed for little money, I'd be curious to see if it goes the same….can you tell me something about it? maybe our f 54 already has all the sensors needed to do the job in plus and play? Good question! I believe some people have found it to be plug and play. In saying that, I have not heard of any issues. If I were you, they dont cost a lot on ebay, find one and see if you can install it! You wont wreck anything and if it doesnt work, it shouldnt be too hard to add the right equipment. Let me know if it works!

If its a 2016 F56 or F55, then yes! if its a R60 or R55 then no as it does not fit any R series cars.
I have a 2017 Mini Clubman S, and am looking at doing this very same upgrade, only for Android Car Play. Where could I find ALL these parts? Not totally sure that I can do it thought since I have the base model? Only the "S" model not a JCW or ALL4...

Hi Ethan, i lost my door chimes/seatbelt chime once i got this installed. I also lost the ring circle color as it was. Only time its completely lit up is wen i hit the breaks and it turns red. Normally, only a small piece (bottom left ‘corner’) is green the rest is not lit. At times it shows that same green in the one ‘corner’ and then a yellow or purple section lights up, yes while the bottom right hand corner is still lit….not to mention, the radio doesn’t work :(

OEM MINI Parts! I wouldnt go aftermarket on these systems as they are unreliable.

Upgrade the entertainment system. If subsequent vehicles are upgraded, will the software be unable to be upgraded?
If MINI releases an os that is compatible with the old hardware, then yes. However the 2024/25 cars I have seen looks like they will not have compatible software

The iDrive controller plugs into a Touch Control Module ECU.C an u tell me where this Touch ECU module is held in place?.
If I am reading your question right, I believe it is included in the large plug you put into the head unit with all the little cables on it. Not sure of the official name
@@carcreationsyt There is actually a little ECU unit that connects via a Y cable between the iDrive unit & HeadUnit.This ECU unit allows you to write on your Idrive surface to choose a song/artist/phone directory etc.The part# 6582-9320275.Thanks.

Did you have to buy a new usb cable to run to the USB media port from the head unit?.I believe you can actually chop the plastic tabs on the old white cable and slot it into the USB port.What do you think?.
We did buy a new one, you may be able to mod the old one, but it’s fibre optics so better safe than sorry

I see that your automatic gear selector doesn't show any metal part, like a lot of them do. How have you done this, is it a replacement boot?
That's a good question! It came like that with the car so not sure if it was done after the fact. I have seen other cars like that though, so maybe its a trim feature
