    Have you ever been told that if you weren’t born with vibrato you don’t have it? Or that it’s wrong to fake vibrato or artificially make it in your voice? I believed that for almost 30 years…until this happened!

    I grew up with a very natural vibratto. I sang in many choirs and competitions. When I was 26 I broke my neck and had a serious head injury in a car accident It took me a quite a few years to get back into shape, (I'm almost 60 now) but I did. I went on to become a marathoner, 35 times over. (so I'm good) The only thing I didn't get back was my singing voice. I lost my vibratto. I do not know how I ever did it. It's lost. I've been singing in a choirs on and off for years. I have a very good range, breath support and solid pitch, but that vibrato never came back. So, I'm here. I related to your story about not singing with vibrato for 43 years. YOUR vibratto is very natural and pleasing. Well, I'm writing too much. I'm glad I found you. I"m here to learn. Mark

    i didn't have vibrato 3 years ago, and i started doing research to get it (keep in mind i was a freshman in high school) when i started getting vibrato, it was sort of a wobble vibrato for a while but now it's more like a tremolo vibrato just because of how fast it is. my vibrato just sort of came to me as i aged and kept singing, it was slow but now it is really fast.

    No, never been told that. TBH vibrato always sounds like someone isn't talented enough to hold a note properly, to me. Maybe I'll try to learn it and re-evaluate.

    I have a natural vibrato but I sing Barbershop harmony and vibrato is frowned upon since it can not be matched in a four part harmony to "ring". I have tried everything to stop of control my vibrato. I have lost out on the opportunity to sing in a quartet due to my vibrato. Help....please.

    You are a very sweet man, a very genuine soul, but I won't lie. Your vibrato did not sound natural. I, on the other hand, have a great natural vibrato and pitch, but it's hard for me to sing a flat tone.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  2 месяца назад

      No worries. You are the first to tell me that. But then again, I'm not sure I know how to distinguish between a natural vibrato vs learned vibrato vs a tired vibrato vs an old vibrato vs a young vibrato vs a sick vibrato vs all the other variations in vibrato. But I've had some very young students ...like 4-6 year olds who sang vibrato very naturally. I'm pretty sure no one had to teach them how. For years I wished I could do vibrato. But I was told you had to be born with it or you don't have it. But that turned out to be incorrect.

    Love your positivity and very useful vocal info!! So happy you learned vibrato, despite your teachers' inept ability to teach it to you! BYU Grad here & Lifetime LDS member. Sad that BYU music dept could/did not teach you proper vibrato technique. Learned recently that LDS church is sitting on $1 TRILLION in Cash, Stocks & Property given to it Charitably by tithing members . Where is Christian charity in hoarding money instead of blessing those in need in this world?? Jesus weeps when LDS Inc Q15 Cons insist on using His name to collect & hoard BILLIONS & BILLIONS in charitably pd tithes. Read LDS Gospel Topic Essays online written by LDS Church that now admit to the truthes of previously so-called 'anti-mormon' lies. IT Was ALL TRUE! Shame on the Q15.

      Hi Young. My teachers were not inept, they just didn't know they didn't know. Fortunately you don't have accurate information about the Church's humanitarian donations and work throughout the world. Check out this talk from October conference and you will discover that your tithing has been used to bless people all over the world...many of whom are not even members of the Church. This is just a small sampling of the humanitarian work throughout the world. www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2021/10/52budge?lang=eng

    Phoebe Snow had, for me, the fakest sounding tremolo. I think I'd have liked her voice without it.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  9 месяцев назад

      Others may have liked it. But if the spin is faster that 8 per second, it becomes tremolo and I personally don't like it either. I've not listened to Phoebe.

    This dichotomy of having a vibrato that is "natural and unlearned" vs. one that is consciously developed and learned, is completely artificial and actually bogus. First of all; where did you exactly derive the knowledge that the singers in the examples had this "natural vibrato", that you call it, instead of a developed one? Did you interview the subjects one by one to come up with this data? I think you're a bit confused here, mate... It seems like the comment you're teacher made of you "not having a god given vibrato" went a bit under you're skin, as you're now creating these delusional comparisons and absolutely unscientific and arbitrary parallels of singers with one, and without one.

    • @PowerToSing
      @PowerToSing  2 года назад +3

      I think you are 100% absolutely right, J.U. Overall, the point I want to make is if you have not been able to sing with vibrato, you can learn to do it extremely well and it will sound as good as any vibrato ever has and you have every reason to have hope and confidence in your ability to do it!
