I am new to your channel but I just wanted to say something weird. I love how much you curse. Some maybe don't but I just find it VERY REAL and authentic... and personal. So unrelated, but thank you for just being real. LOL. Cause I know most of us talk just like that in our day to day lives with our friends and etc. I know this is YT, but I can just appreciate the little things like that ... that help us all relate to one another. GOOD ADVICE, ALSO.

People that swear a lot tend to be more honest. I have trouble fabricating and faking things. I’d also rather establish connection with people for the right reasons that for a fake sales approach or fragmented version of who I am 😊

I dunno… “is fake bad?”… naw, vibrato is an effect, an embellishment, seasoning of the sauce as it were. As long as what you’re doing is smooth and appropriate to the statement, it’s the statement. Does it matter if I get that note in a reinforced falsetto, or a pulled chest/mix voice? Not as long as it’s done well.
I do think that, on things like Whitney’s chin quiver, internal imagery is what drives that stuff. Like me subconsciously tilting my head and sneering my lip up trying to reach a higher note. Doesn’t make a damn bit of difference except in my head mentally, (exactly like my golf swing actually 😅)
You’ve given me some stuff to work with here, Thank you my friend….

I'm a year into lessons and my teacher doesn't want me to concern myself too much with vibrato just yet but I found this suuuper interesting as a lot of questions I had pondered to myself, you happened to answer so good job haha.
You're obviously a Tool fan so a question for you is do you think Maynard manufactures his vibrato? I have noticed his is really fast. You hear more of it when he's performing live.

What is the vibrato that Hank Williams and Roy Orbison has? Or is that just part of their voices?

Not sure about Hank but Orbsions vibrato was very natural. He sang in a very open and correct almost opera type way. Good stuff.

Thanks for all the tips! Another "neck Vibrato" singer is Layne Staley (so far as I can tell). I got in the habit of rocking my voice box around by emulating him, which works but certainly put me in a box so it's really nice develop other techniques. WE ARE NOT ONE TRICK PONIES

Ha. Interesting. I find everything is better coming from the diaphragm. Keep working man 😊

So you're saying chris liepe's vibrato is fake? I dunno man sounds pretty damn good to be a "fake" vibrato.. it comes easily to him yet he has great control. So as to teaching what is correct or not, Maybe those who say they have no mastery of something should not be dealing such advice? This is such a weird video bc you actually have REALLY GOOD vibrato.. w your throat/larnyx! but you seem to really hate it??? Keep calling it ridiculous!? It sounds good man.. the diaphragm one sounds way more forced and not "free".. but then you are inadvertently rocking the larnyx into vibrato when you get into it.. it would impossible to get such from the diaphragm alone unless you are literally shaking your body, physically moving tensing yaddayadda.. and it still gets styled w larnyx wobble.. or it would sound like a machine, dull as fuck. Of course this is one of the most debatable and "unteachable" part of singing... but it definitely requires diaphragm air AND larnyx rock .. so saying its not in the throat is just wrong.. its what the individual makes work for them, in the moment, which comes freely and adds the desired effect. Some like a crazy strong or fast or wide vibrato.. its just artistic taste, not fake.
I like your vids but this one just seems to be putting down a perfectly fine vibrato style. The truth is.. if it comes out ya face, it's authentic 😉 a ooak artwork‐ subjectively between great and/or terrible. And yeah, constant vibrato (which is basically opera, ppl still love it), or tremelo goat style can really be off-putting to some.. but it DOES get attention, think shakira, stevie nicks.. etc. It also does require talent to use and control, most people without any experience can absolutely not do the throat wooowooowoooo eehhehhehhehh thing deliberately and consistently.. lol.. Just my two shitcents. Take it w a grain of salt as im throwing my opinion into the bucket of all, and like assholes, most stink 😊

    Dude,
You are very stiff in your videos, but I lost interest just a few minutes into your video, simply because, in my opinion, you didn’t have anything to say!
