@@MusicEnthuZoneI can't even tell you how many years I'd been wanting to hear an in-depth interview with him. I looked around and never found anything.
This is SOLID GOLD, If somebody pressed this interview on vinyl, I would instantly purchase it. I hope one day a clean copy of Tubbys sound playing at a session is found, so we can clearly hear the quality & weight.
@@MusicEnthuZoneHe basically invented the remix. Note this is different than the "version", which I'm pretty sure he did not invent. I forget who did, but I'm pretty sure it was an accident.
Thank you! BIG UPPPPP!!!!!!!! He sounds like such a gentle and intelligent human. He is so rare. Seemingly he had great boundaries also, and if you work with musicians and you can maintain your own energy, you have energy to use to create which most engineers don't have. He truly has been the leader for us all! Respect!
This is interview is AMAZING!!! Like several others here I have NEVER heard Tubby’s voice so this is nothing short of heart warming and mind blowing for me being a MASSIVE Dub and Tubby fan. This man and his collective and their contribution to music as a whole is Truly Immeasurable!!! Thanks also for the Great work in cleaning this up sonically to preserve and share with all of us to enjoy. Keep up the Fantastic work and endless Thanks for this!!!🙌🏼👏🏻👍🏼🙏🏻
every one , wire there things a bit differently. 6:15/9:55 i would plug the four instruments into the main mixers input channels, and leave the record in/out into the mixer also, and not try to plug directly the four into the tape machines front panel. because in the past i have found this to be working against the mixer , unless this was a way that the master was using this path to find and use the feed back.?
We definitely would have The Aggrovaters. That name and band was put together by Bunny Lee consisting of session musicians that were well known. King Tubby didn't record bands. He mixed mostly and sometimes voiced people over riddims recorded at Channel One, which sessions were engineered by other people.
@@carlwinslow5905 makes sense! It still stands that it would be so different if he never came around. He’s still the reason why many mixing techniques for dub exist and he popularized the use of the high pass filter with the big red knob
You sure bout that? Tubbys was only voicing, dub mixing of tapes recorded by musicians at different studios and dub cutting. He never have facilities at 18 drumallie ave to record musicians in 1978/79 when the later 12" cut of every knee was put on street

This interview is a golden treasure.
I hope I'm wrong about it being the only one.

Thanks for this. He will always be The King.
Best producer of all time.
Definitely up there for how he revolutionised how we think of sound.

Thank You. Never Heard The Kings voice. The man was a Giant. RIP Osbourne Ruddock.
Been waiting years to hear King Tubbys voice. Respect
Me too, I got goosebumps when the noise reduction made it so I could hear him.
reggae music wouldn't have been reggae music if wasn't for king tubby
Reggae music as we know it would NOT be the same without Mr. Osbourne Ruddick aka King Tubby’s Amazing Talent and Influence upon the music.🎶 🎼🎶

He is the master
Without him, we wouldn’t have Jammy or The Scientist. Especially not the Aggrovators and all of the legends who came from his studio
