Use to live next door to Studio One as a child , Moms was great friends with Bumps (bass player for Skatalites) it was,nt unusual to see these great musicians passing through our yard or dressed going to perform at Carib, did,nt know we was among royalty at the time. Moms has passed on but left us with an incredible love and appreciation for the great thing called reggae or ska that have taken over the world . Thanks Moms still missing you everyday
Thanks for the great history Trevor! 🖤
Wow wish I could say the same
Amazing. Mitoo, McCook, Ranglin all just hangin next door. Absolute legends.
The only regret that I have is that i didnt discover Jackie Mittoo earlier in my life.
Blessed to have seen Jackie Mitoo perform live, was awesome.
where did you see the great man himself? in what year was this?
@@GoodSoundz13 Around 1985 Sugar Minott performed at the sold out Reggae Sunsplash - Crystal Palace stadium. His first concert after Sunsplash was live in Manchester at the P.S.V. Russell Club. Jackie Mittoo was amongst the musicians that night as well as musical director. I remember seeing photographs of Jackie with his cousins who resided in Manchester. What a concert - ROADBLOCK!!
I was supposed to see him with Skatalites on a reunion tour in Vancouver, but the promoter didn't get their visas (coming up from USA--though come to think of it Mittoo was a landed Canadian immigrant if not a citizen) so it got cancelled---they came back a couple years later but by then he had passed on.
Two legends Jackie mittoo and willie williams
This footage is pure Good!!! The greatest reggae keys player ever
More than that, he was the architect of rocksteady and the father of reggae as the musical director of studio one
This man Jackie, was a master at his craft.
The father of reggae music!!

Toronto have plenty history! Love and Praise for all those who have come before us! Blessings and Overstanding!
Such a shame I never got to see Jackie Mittoo live- I grew up in the Toronto area but he passed before I was really going to shows on my own (I was born in '75). I have seen Willi Williams (he also calls Toronto home) and he was phenomenal.
Fantastic. A real historic piece.
I L O V E this! So great to see the masta in action. WIKKED
Yes Jackie you a di man! Sing out Willie Williams.
Jackie Mittoo G.O.A.T. 💥💥💥💥💥
So many versions of the "Real Rock" riddim, but this is without doubt, one of the baddest, wickedest cut of the riddim EVER.
The released version 'Rocking Universally ( armagideon style) ' is a great upbeat version- a bit like 'Nice up the Dance' & the remixed versions of Williams own Williams own takes on the 'Real Rock' rhythm .
Surprising that previously so few had done takes on the rhythm (Pablo's being the best known ?)
Big up Joseph mittoo, and his brothers, wow what a vibes ,jackie,
Thanks to Light in The Attic for the excellent Summer CD/DVD
Blessed it be to this mAn, my god man will stand, ROCK IT UNIVERSALLY
Massive Respect for sharing
Big tune

Willi Williams is smoking hot, seriously. And Jackie Mittoo is Jesus
Jackie"Keyboard King" Mitoo was introduced to me by my uncle,
Pure Gem Sir !!!
Thanks for upload - The lp being recorded 'Messenger Man' by Willy Williams & the Armagideons is a great later roots lp .
Was re-released on CD by the 'Charm' label & the unofficial 'Corn-fed' label ( with extra tracks) ..& then one of 'Blood & Fire' last releases (2006) with dubs added ...(credited to 'Willie' Williams . )
3:53, that's Rozah Ross......blood fiyah!!!!
Me encanta Mitoo! Música de altissimo vuelo!!! Saludos!
Jackie Mittoo!
BELLEZA.
First reggae producer to use drum machine was the late, great Lee "Scratch" Perry on his *"Chim Cheri"* or as its better known name, the *"Get A Lick/Billie Jean"* riddim. He used it again for Bob Marley's classic *"Rainbow Country."*
i believe it was more Family Man in control of the "first drum machine in JA" - chim cherie being mainly his creation.. he churned out a lot of dubplates in that chim cherie style...and things like "guided missile" and "higher field marshall"
i actually wrote a bit about the rhythm in the description of this vid - a killer 90's Digital B recut -ruclips.net/video/7oY4ynYKw-0/видео.html
