  • This video was made for our trade show exhibits to show off the process for reflashing Toyota/Lexus vehicles, though we're uploading this video here as it is a detailed step-by-step guide for this process and may help out our customer base.
The music wasn't originally part of it, but something was tacked on to make it so it wasn't SO sterile :P

I'm a automotive locksmith in Seattle. I the autopropad a little over a year ago and love it. By far the best programmer I've ever used. I use it at least 95% of the time. Would definitely choose this over the smart pro any day. And any new locksmiths should spend there money on this tool 1st.

Hey, I’m a locksmith but new to the auto side of it. I was looking into the smart pro but the token system seems very expensive like $3200 a year. I’m considering getting the autopropad programmer, if I had the autopropad, that does almost all vehicles right?

@@nathankivett9911 by now I’m sure you made a decision already. I hope you went with autopropad. Smart pro is useful and a good tool. But I greet the auto propad Autel im608 before the smart pro. If I had to choose between autopropad and the autel 1st it would be the autel. Even though I use my autopropad way more. I have good reasons for it. But I will say the autopropad is a must have in the automotive locksmith arsenal

If I could make a suggestion but would be awesome if you could add BMW EWS key programming. That would be awesome.

Be sure to gently scrape the legs of chip to remove the clear conformal coating. Those blue clips are not made for digging! I use a tiny brass dremel wire wheel.... but not in the tool, just gently by hand over the legs. If you do not get a proper contact, you will lose the blue light on the device,. If this happens, remove device from chip, disconnect power to the Xtool device, plug back in and try again.
I had a 1999 Landcruiser and a 2001 Lexus ES300 in past week. Both use the old 16 bit Denso computer... reflash only.
    All went smoothly

After reassembling the ecu is the next step to obd program the key to the ecu? I haven’t done eeprom before but heard Honda’s require special keys after reflash. Are the Toyota’s ready to go after reflash?

Yes, the Honda/Acura reflash procedure requires a resync/programming procedure with a diagnostic tool and the red and black keys that were written specifically for the file that was flashed to the box.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Toyota ECU boxes get reinstalled in the vehicle and the next step depends on which file was flashed to the car.
      - If it was ready-to-start, the vehicle should start with keys written to match the ready-to-start file of the AutoProPAD.
      - If it was a virgin file, it will be in learn mode and the steps are as follows:
The security light should be blinking when you first plug it back into the car.
Insert your first key into the ignition but don't turn.
The security light should go solid.
      Wait 15 seconds.
Remove the key and insert key #2 but don't turn.
The security light should go solid.
      Wait 15 seconds.
Remove the key and insert key #3 but don't turn.
The security light should go solid.
      Wait 15 seconds.
If the light doesn't go out, try pumping the brake 5x.
First two introduced are masters, third is a valet.
If you're only trying to program one key, you can sometimes fool the car by inserting the same key multiple times, but you may have to use multiples to close the cycle.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If it's a separate immobilizer box, like the Prius or Sequoia, the box needs to be resynced and THEN keys can be programmed.

What is the Toyota Non Transponder option used for?

What happens once you reflash? How do you actually program the key to the immobilizer? Dumb question but I'm a rookie locksmith lol

@@AutoProPADProgrammer EXCELLENT. Had this not been here, I likely would have turned the first key. Are there functions to read the existing key data, or is reflash the only option ?
