The K5 GT-Line, especially with AWD, is a strongly appealing midsize sedan. Internet fan boys will immediately want the K5 GT with its stronger 2.5L turbo engine and DCT but apart from the fact that most won't be able to afford either one they should be careful what they wish for. The biggest weakness of both the K5 GT and the Sonata N-Line is the absence of AWD or even a limited slip differential (either mechanical or electronic) in a vehicle with about 300 HP and over 300 ft lbs of torque. (Even a FWD GTI with far less power has an LSD.) What that means is that the power of the larger engine is difficult to access without wheel hop and torque steer. Some may think those "features" are essential to "performance" but experienced "enthusiasts" know better. All in all, the GT-Line with substantial cost savings and the capacity to access the full power of the 1.6L turbo makes a lot of sense.

Heard a lot of bad stuff about KIA Customer Service at dealerships… especially from the Stinger owners. From their words that the 10 year warranty could be a 20 year warranty and they would still find a way to blame you for the issue
Kia has grown up a lot but i still just cant get myself to buy one. Its a Kia. They offer a lot for the money but for some reason i still would not feel confident in one. A car is supposed to make you feel confident, powerful on the road, excited, most of all happy. I do not see that with Kia yet. They are getting close though. For me i would rather buy a Toyota or a Honda over a Kia anyday. I hear build quality is a concern. I was really considering a 2022 Kia GT that makes 293 horse power but instead i got a 2.0 Honda Accord Sport 2022. The car is absolutely incredible.
I have the same exact car . I’ve had it since January and it’s aged very nicely. No machine car washes 😎 i got the old badging but replaced them in black !! Its a great car & I get lots of question out on the road !! 😊❤️
When I’m ready to trade in my forte, I want to look at getting this car. I’m not ready yet because I just got it in June and I’m not ready to trade in but I know that I would want another Kia because these are good cars.
If I could get any car (mind you I have to pay for it and I am an E-3 in the Marine Corps), it would be this. In black on black. But it is $27.5k brand new and even with a $10-12k down payment I do want a car payment of around $300/mo or less, and it is difficult to make happen. Thank for the review, love that you always get to the new cars unlike many other reviewers who opt for things they like, which may consist of $50-60K or more cars. Liked, and still subbed as always.
Kia reliability is hit or miss. I have a 2013 Rio and I’ve never had any major problems with it, but my friend has a 2015 Soul and has had to take it to the dealer 3 times. She even needed a new engine. This is all before 100,000 miles.
If you want a reliable daily and looking within the midsize sedan category It is always good to play it safe and go Toyota or Honda or their higher class variations Lexus Acura
Have the same spec color and seats, just no sun roof. great daily driving experience with the automatic as compared to the CVT offered on most competition.
Really love the design of this car, I've been seeing them appear more and more by where I live. The full blown GT model could use an LSD and an extra pedal though 😏
No MT in the K5 future, I'm afraid. Midsize sedans are already stagnant in terms of sales and adding a third pedal wouldn't help. But the absence of any sort of LSD (electronic or manual) in the K5 GT is its major weakness. Perhaps KIA will see the error of their ways on that score. As far as a V6 is concerned, that's a non-starter. Period. A naturally aspirated would only add weight and no performance advantage compared to the 2.5L turbo 4 and a turbo version of a V6 wouldn't come close to justifying its cost in terms of sales.
I've been a proud owner of the Kia K5 GT-Line AWD sedan for almost a year. But let me tell y'all. Save yourself the money and don't bother with opting for the premium package that comes with the autostart. 1.) When you use the autostart, there is no visual indication that the car actually started (beyond a quick flash of the DRL - if you happen to catch it and even then there's no guarantee that it actually started because it's very finicky.) 2.) The car will only run for exactly 10 minutes and at a maximum temp of just 72F. There is no way to change this. Obviously those of us who live in Northern, wintry climates know that this is a joke if you're expecting to defrost your car and have it warm and toasty for you when you go out. The only way around this is the old way. Put on your sweats and coat and go out and start the car manually! I don't know what Kia was thinking with this but the autostart feature as it stands right now is a total fail. Instead, go for a third party autostart option that will probably be a LOT cheaper than the package that provides this feature from Kia. I wish I had done my homework ahead of time.
The short answer is no. I know cause I've been doing a Kia engine settlement series for over a year now. Helping people get their engines replaced but only if they have the KSDS.
Thanks for the review it was very detailed I’m kinda for a bit of a crazy driver so this helped a lot…. Lol…. I’m looking to buy one this month and I’ve been looking at reviews for about a month now and haven’t heard any bad reviews from Kia… so I’m definitely getting one….!!! Thanks ❤❤

I have the same exact car . I’ve had it since January and it’s aged very nicely. No machine car washes 😎 i got the old badging but replaced them in black !! Its a great car & I get lots of question out on the road !! 😊❤️
Hello! I am looking into getting this car. Just wondering how your care is doing? Any problems or regrets?
When I’m ready to trade in my forte, I want to look at getting this car. I’m not ready yet because I just got it in June and I’m not ready to trade in but I know that I would want another Kia because these are good cars.
Sounds like the next logical
@@RaitisRides haven’t had any issues yet. Got it with 13000 and now I’m at 21000
@@mroddydawgany update?
@@Fuerya man, I still got the forte. I’m paying payments. I’m talking about down the road.
@@Fuerya I’m at 41k. I’m talking about down the road. I still got the forte hahaha
If you want a reliable daily and looking within the midsize sedan category
It is always good to play it safe and go Toyota or Honda or their higher class variations Lexus Acura
If they make a hot hatchback version for the K5 and tune the engine to make more power they can really compete with the GTI
Looks sporty from the back 😍
Smart one. I’m going 8/10!
I think you are so very right Gareth.
I bought this car in may and I’m in love with it
I absolutely love it! Can’t wait to purchase mines
Have the same spec color and seats, just no sun roof. great daily driving experience with the automatic as compared to the CVT offered on most competition.
The k5 gt beat the bmw 330i in a 0 to 60 second test drive...that has peaked my interest will be considering this vehicle!
Hey Joe they are going to unveil the 2022 chevy silverado Sept 9 at 400 pm
Fingers crossed I should be.
Wow.
Can't wait
@@alphaares6027 its a thursday
Nice review keep up the good work
I really want this vehicle, but after 4 engines in my Optima SXL I’m skeptical about buying another Kia.
An absolute work of art
I just wished you reviewed the new 2022 k5 instead of 2021. great vid never the less
Stay tuned!
2021 Kia K5 GT-Line LOOKING much better. Great to see good products from the South Koreans brothers.
I love my 2022 GT Line
I've seriously considered switching from the 2020 Accord EX-L to this...
I think it is a great sedan. Has some awesome style.
@@RaitisRides agreed!
Remember the front end of these Hyundai/kia are plastic.
@@OrganicWheat thanks for that, but I am aware. That's not a deciding factor for me.
@@OrganicWheat Who asked?
Really love the design of this car, I've been seeing them appear more and more by where I live.
The full blown GT model could use an LSD and an extra pedal though 😏
And a v6 maybe
@@yrnjackson6504 If it can fit that twin turbo V6
@@mistamaog i want it to be a v6
@@yrnjackson6504 We all do
No MT in the K5 future, I'm afraid.
Car is so beautiful
Okay love your videos and I am subscribed and I love Kia’s thank yo for making these kind of videos!!!
You are so very welcome. Thank you for being part of the Raiti's Rides family!
Not a problem!!! I know you can hit 1 Mill
Your descriptions for stuff fitting in places are the best 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing that ownership experience!
The Sonata Sel plus with the 19 inch wheels in Hampton grey looks just as good in my opinion. Tough decision.
Mine looks great with 30% tint. Highly recommend
The short answer is no. I know cause I've been doing a Kia engine settlement series for over a year now. Helping people get their engines replaced but only if they have the KSDS.
Loving this KIA. The colour choice is awesome. Always needing that twinkie storage info! Thanks, Joe! Thanks for all you do, Lori!
Thanks ❤❤
I have a 2019 Optima and it’s been problem free.
