    • @TheStitchSessions

      Hi Michelle! There is a standard sizing chart you can reference which I am linking here but it also depends on how much give you would like your armholes to have for ease of movement. Check out this chart and if you still have any questions, please do let me know. You should be able to find the average armhole depth for this chest measurement which is approx 7.5 - 8.5 inches. Hello, really great info! What about the increases at the corners of the yoke? How many stiches (1 or 2), how many chains between those stiches (1,2,or 3)? Does it matter?. Maybe you have an opinion about it. Thanks!

    • @TheStitchSessions
      @TheStitchSessions  2 года назад +1

      Viviana! Hi! Great questions! I usually start off by doing increases with a stitch, chain 1 and stitch but then I will look at the work as I go. If I find it's bunching, it's because there aren't enough sts so It will need 2 sts, chain 1 and 2 sts. I rarely use 2 chains as that would create a bit of a larger gap in the fabric - unless I am crocheting something lacey than that would be okay. Hope that all makes sense! Do let me know if you have any more questions:)👍

    hi thank you so much, I have been tasked to make a crochet no sew tutu for an 11-12 year old and getting measurements right has been a nightmare, the only question I have which my seem silly is how many chains from hook am I starting with and do I add any???

    • @TheStitchSessions
      @TheStitchSessions  3 года назад

      Oh this is wonderful to hear that this tutorial will help you in your tutu project. Now how many chains from the hook will depend on the stitch you plan to use to make the tutu. If you are using SC stitches then the 2nd chain from the hook will do. If you are using DC, then the four ch from the hook will do. Hope that makes sense!

    So if I stop at my armpit and then calculate how many stitches I will need from that point to how wide I actually want the body, meaning the difference between the two, then I could add chains at the armpit to make up the difference, correct? And if that is correct is there kind of a guideline as to how many chains that you would actually want to add. Say for instance, the difference is quite large. Is there anything that says how many chains are too much?

    • @TheStitchSessions
      @TheStitchSessions  Год назад +1

      What I Would do is when connecting at the armpit, chain up 3 to 5 chains and then connect to create the armholes. Then try it on. Your arms should feel comfortable. You want to be able to move around without it feeling tight. If it feels tight, then undo that row and add a few more chains at the join of each armpit and then try on again. Repeat the process until you get a fit that feels good. Once you get the right fit then you would proceed to crocheting the rest of the body.
      Hope that makes sense?

    • @TheStitchSessions
      @TheStitchSessions  2 года назад

      Hi Immaculate! I'd be happy to help. Can you let me know what exactly you don't understand about the neck measurements? If the person you are making it for is not around, you can reference these handy sizing charts on the Crochet Crafty website which can give you a general idea of the measurements you want to use to create your starting chain. Just click this link below www.crochetcrafty.com/bonus-tools.html

    • @TheStitchSessions
      @TheStitchSessions  3 года назад

      Hi Doreen, These are Toddler sizes. For example 2T means for a 2 year old and 3T means for a 3 year old etc. Anything under 2T would be baby sizes. That is a separate sizing chart and actually I am working on one now, so stay tuned! I will keep you posted as soon as I finish it:)
