  • 1977-78: The Toronto Maple Leafs' bombastic owner, Harold Ballard, released from jail, was back to meddling; star players had been traded or pilfered by the WHA; the team had to share the spotlight with the new Toronto Blue Jays.
Yet the Leafs turned the season into one shining moment in the team’s history. Young draft picks - Darryl Sittler, Lanny McDonald, Dave “Tiger” Williams, and Ian Turnbull - meshed with Swedish stars Börje Salming and Inge Hammarström, and acrobatic goaltender Mike Palmateer. Led by visionary coach Roger Neilson and GM Jim Gregory, this team was on a mad, memorable ride.
Take that ride with co-author of "Revival," Gord Stellick, and host Steve Paikin on the next Hockey Time Machine. The show premieres Wednesday, March 20 at 7 pm Eastern on RUclips.
