    Lifelong Islanders fan here, I have to give that leafs team credit, they totally outplayed us in that quarterfinal series

    Great Timing!
    I just started watching the 1978 playoff series against the NY Islnaders on RUclips during spring break. I watched it when I was a kid and it was the first series that I vividly remembered. Great stuff ... I'll try check out this book too!

    The leafs were only twelve games over .500 that year and it was Mike Palmateer that saved their bacon against the Islanders.

    Read what former Leafs President Ken Dryden has to say about the late 70s Leafs in his book, The Game. Perhaps it’s the 56 year old drought of not even being in the Finals that makes a book like this appealing. In my opinion, that Leafs team was good but not great and would not have won a Cup over the next few seasons if kept together. I do like and have the utmost respect for Gord Stellick and this host
