Manila looks even better than the last time I was in the city, which was at the time of completion of a newly built British embassy in Upper Mckinley Road, not far from the Venice Grand Canal Mall (which wasn't there at that time), I've mostly been to Cebu recently 2019:)

Where in Cebu? Cebu City is really booming right now. Establishments are beijg built left and right, and a new expressway with a new bridge is almost done! In just few years some parts of Cebu City will have a similar vibe with cities from Metro Manila :)

Makati, BGC, Ortigas are high end cities in metro manila. It's kind of confusing for many because Manila is a capital. City of Manila is different from the aforementioned cities because manila city is not the level of Makati, BGC, or Ortigas. Metro Manila consists of 17 cities and municipalities that includes manila, quezon, pasay, makati & others.
Fighter 13 You have to understand that City of Manila was once the business district of the Philippines, time changes so are the cities and developments.

Thanks for your nice comments. I live (and work) 24/7 right across that park in Makati and I tend to ignore the place already although its very convenient living there. As Filipinos, we tend to rate other places better and look down on our own, which isnt really helpful.

Manila is so insane. I soaked it up and come away with a totally different opinion as to what I initially expected. You can't ignore Manila if you're visiting the Philippines. The contrasts you experience are vast. I loved it... I can't wait to return.
Yeah, thanks to biased Western mainstream media that show only the chaotic part of Manila. Thus, private sector developers quietly built the clustered modern areas with a bang. No wonder tourists get surprised, and often say "I didn't expect this in Manila."
Well, there is still a lot of things to do, especially horizontal infrastructure. But one thing I'm sure of, given the "build, build, build" activities of the current administration , Metro Manila would be recognized as one of the best places to live by 2030 onward. Way to go, PH!
