Animals are special gifts but boy can they come with some strong feelings, emotions, and drama. How do you decide whether to get a pet or not? What do you do when someone tries to discipline your pet? We're going to need your thoughts on these ones!

I’ve heard Morgan cry so many times on the pod but Jerry beginning to cry struck me. My childhood cat will take care of your Holly. 🩷

I am so sorry for your loss. In 2020, my husband & I adopted a senior dog, Robby, from a shelter - no one else wanted a 14 year old arthritic dog & he was the only one left. We loved him to 16.5 before we had to put him down in May of 2022. Robby’s paws made a distinct sound on our flooring & three days after we said goodbye, my husband & I were woken up at the same time in the middle of the night by the sound of Robby’s paws. We believe he was visiting us one last time. We now have a cat, Beans, that we adopted because she was the only one left out of her siblings waiting to be adopted. Her birthday? May 2022. We also believe Robby sent her to us. Holly will send you exactly what you need when you’re ready.

I also had to put down my fur baby this week. She started to seize due to a rare and undetectable tumor- There were no vets able to take her in because it was a Sunday, so unfortunately her fever caused irreversible brain damage by the time we arrived at the nearest emergency clinic. Poor girl was only 4. RIP Honey. You were an amazing pupper. 💗

My childhood best friends dad had two Goldens before he passed, and when they got separated, it was so sad. They loved each other so much, and they completely changed after losing both their dad and bestie. Rest in peace, Dan, I know your babies miss you ❤
The puppy was being abused .. straight forward! No one stood up for her so she stood up for herself. Parents need to educate their kids and if the kids can’t be trusted they can’t be around the dog.

i lost my little sweetheart doggie a year ago. my heart aches for you guys. making that decision to have a pet put to sleep is so tough. you guys gave her a great life. she seemed like such a sweet, happy pup. rip little Holly ❤
For 2nd story: having a dog is a great experience but if you are not willing to tolerate some ripped shoes or pee in the house at the beginning the best thing to do is not getting a dog, their hearts get broken when they think you are their family and then they are abandoned. Pets need to be trained and taken care of, a trained pet can be very well behaved but if you are your family are not willing to educate yourself about how to properly take care of the dog then the best you can do is keep saying no.
Saying goodbye to a beloved family pet is so hard. You did the right thing ending her suffering.

33:25 hi guys, as far as the Hank/puppy situation goes I wanted to let you know about some additional options that would be a lot better than ever dropping a dog off at a shelter! My husband and I ran independent kitten rescue for 2 1/2 years, we managed to do a lot of good work and we were very good at vetting, doing home, inspections, ensuring that the animals all went to a good pet owner or family! Shelters and the pound, will euthanize an animal if the animal is there too long without being adopted, especially when they are not a young puppy! I think it would be wise to find a local rescue that has a good reputation,!and please remember to never ever list a dog or cat on marketplace without charging a rehoming fee!! are used for fighting as bait animals, and I have even had stories from my fellow rescuers that cats and small dogs have been fed to large snakes! So it’s important that we share when we are looking to surrender an animal that we make the best decision for them! Hope this helps and a really sorry about Holly!

I needed it, as I lost my best furry friend of 18 years over the weekend. 😿 Pet grief is awful and runs so deep. You’re not alone in your feelings. Our animals are blessings and we are all so lucky. Take care of yourselves 🩵
Story about the mom not wanting the dog, I disagree that fostering is a middle ground. It still does the dog a disservice giving it back if the family will not care for it. Rather, implore the family to do their research about caring for a dog, even the spouse, especially different breeds with their energy levels, and common health issues. I did this for my first pup. It wasnt easy and I struggled but she was mine, I trained her, walked her, cared for her when she was ill, and played with her. It also taught me dogs have personalities so be prepared for ANYTHING. And yes, even potty trained dogs have accidents when sick. My pup had lymphoma and passed at age 5. For a year her meds made her incontinent. I learned how to sniff it out and act fast to clean the carpets, couch, mattress.
Yeah I agree on that not being much of a middle ground, maybe like you said they do their research. However I do think an idea if they know anyone with a dog is they could offer to dog sit for a week. This means they could do everything that was listed in the episode of trying to see if they take care of the dog or if she is forced to be the only one to. It also means there's no risk of getting attached and begging to keep the dog coz it already has an owner. Just my thoughts 🤷♀️
I love this! When my sister moved in and started talking about the pets they wanted, I told them they had to do all the research first and be able to tell me all about the care.
Story 5 was crazy. That sister in law is insane. She verbally told them she sat on her puppy with her KNEES?! The pup is only 7lbs??? If she admitted to doing that, imagine what she’s not telling you?? Absolutely not! Don’t let that lady around that puppy anymore. Period.
Also I’m sorry for the loss of holly. I just lost my cat of 21 years. It’s rough but they lived a long happy life ❤ we will miss them but they are resting now and we will cherish all the good times. ♥️

For the first story with cats and lilies, it’s my understanding that the pollen is what is so toxic to cats and makes even having them in the house dangerous
Im so sorry for Holly‘s passing 😔😔😔 losing a pet is hands down the most difficult thing. We had to put down my childhood dog years ago, and it was devastating. To this day I cry when I see his photos. So many hugs to you guys 🤍🤍🤍
My childhood cat just passed a couple of hours ago, we thought she wouldn't last the night. I saw this upload early this morning and my heart dropped. Thank you for sharing holly with us and this video, it helped me feel less alone. I'm sorry for your loss! 😞❤️

We just had to put down my family dog I grew up with for similar reasons recently 😔 Seeing the joy Holly brought your dad reminded me very much of my own father and pup! I know our fuzzy loved ones are resting peacefully now, and I'm so grateful they graced out lives! 🥹💕

So sorry for Holly . It is the hardest decision to make to put a pet down to stop their suffering. I had to make the choice to put my dog down when she has kidney stones but could not have another surgery because she previously had two and could not go through another. Crying one minute into the pod new record . Sending yall hugs 🫶🏻
I lost all 3 of my childhood pets in 2021. Its extremely hard. Wishing you peace and soothing quiet.
My cat (best friend) was 20 and I had to put her down in January. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I didn’t realize at the time how hard it would be to watch the life in her quickly fade and she went limp in my arms and it broke me. Whoever was that for Holly, I’m sure it meant a lot to her and I hope you’re okay. I battled with regret doing it but it was in her best interest. To this day I can’t look at that vet clinic without tearing up and I have to pass it every day. Our animals are our babies and I’m so sorry for your loss. It truly is so hard but don’t ever regret letting her go the peaceful way.
It’s been 6 months now and I cry every now and then but it’s getting less often and I have a little mural on a shelf in my foyer made for her and my mom had someone make a painting of her. It’ll get easier. We all see how loved she is. She’s waiting at the rainbow bridge for you guys ❤🌈

My deepest condolences Morgan and Jerry!!🙏 Holly will be missed by all of us. I also have a 16 year old yorkie going on 17 soon and I know the time is coming and I’m trying my best to be ready… it’s the hardest part of owning a pet 😭😭
41:39 Jerry 😭 what you said about relationships ending no matter what the cause, it’s one of those hard to accept facts of life everyone knows we’ll feel at some point, probably many times the older we get, but what you said was very profound and I skipped back and listened to what you said a few times. It’s those little moments that make this show worth watching every week, thank you🖤
And lastly about your Holly.,. You said when we open our hearts to loving someone, it’s with the risk of knowing it may not last forever.. this can also apply to the loss of Holly and to anyone who chooses to love a pet knowing that their lifetime will come and go during only a part of ours. But like you said, the universe cycles love around. She’ll always be part of what made you who you are now, and because of that, she’s there when you meet new people, she’s there in the relationships you have and she’s here in the advice you give the thousands of us all every episode. Rest in peace Holly, wishing peace and comfort to you guys🤎☮️

A Lady on I think Reddit, made her family go for daily walks for several months, as if they had a dog they have to walk. Only after they did that long enough did she agree to a dog. I think a puppy is not for beginners, they should get an adult trained dog.

i’m so sorry for holly i wanna cryyyy. i just lost my childhood dog from when i was 4. she just made it to her 18th birthday. along with my mom she has been the only consistent person in my life, i didn’t shed a tear for any of my family members that have passed but losing winnie broke my heart. i truly lost a huge piece of myself

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just lost my hospice foster dog who I basically considered my dog since I had him for a year. It's so hard. But this episode definitely helped me. I hope you guys find healing and happiness and if you do decide to get another pup, I'm eager to meet them 💕

Aw Holly 😔 I lost my childhood dog five years ago and I still think of her everyday.
The first cat story - I definitely agree it’s the owners responsibility to ensure a safe environment for your pet. You definitely need to clean the litter box more than that! I have two cats and I spot clean their trays everyday (pick out the poop and remove any clumps of discoloured litter) and refresh the litter entirely every week - sometimes sooner if it needs it. I feel like it’s common knowledge these days about lilies surely. Sometimes I get gifted bouquets containing lilies from non cat owners, I thank them and then I pass them onto someone else who I know doesn’t have cats. My 2 year old cat is pretty well behaved and doesn’t get into things - I didn’t have to worry much about leaving things out, but my 1 year old cat is an adorable little terror! She will get into anything so we don’t leave anything out. Fortunately the worst thing she’s gotten into is a loaf of bread.

Its coming up to 2 years since we had to put our lil rescue dog down, he was only 5 but had issues no one was aware of. Sending lots of love in this time

i’m a listener on apple podcasts but i came to youtube just to comment and say i’m so sorry, holly was a huge part of father knows and we all loved her so much. it’s never easy losing a pet especially having to make the decision that’s best for them.
i also wanted to say for the hank story, i agree about telling him listen i’ll take him but we’re no contact. he’s my dog now and your not involved. you have to set that clear boundary and make it clear. i worry you may regret or it may weigh on you if he has to take him to a shelter or something. i say that just beacuse i know how i would feel long term. sometimes the scariest and unknown decisions can be the best and happiest decisions you ever make.

I had to write to say how sad I am about your Holly girl. I was listening as I was on my way to a class, and I cried too. She was very loved and I think you all were very caring and loving to her always and I know first hand how hard of a decision that was.

Omgoodness I'm only 55 seconds in and I'm already in tears. My neighbor just put down her last pup (of 3)who I got my dog at the same time. My Gracie girl is almost 17 and a pitbull and I love her more than anything. And I know her time is near hearing of your loss and my neighbors.
Your girl Holly has a legacy in all the love from her "family" online. I loved reading that other peoples pets are waiting/playing/watching over her. ❤❤
For the Hank story there are breed specific rescues that do an excellent job of fostering and finding new homes. I got a beautiful golden retriever from a rescue in Phoenix AZ.

We had to make the same decision for our bully last May. It sucks to have to make the decision, but being able to be there for them in their final goodbye is the most amazing thing in life. Over the rainbow bridge she goes ❤

So sorry for your loss. I recently had to put my cat down after 20 long years. Hardest day of my life so I know what your going through it's very hard.
Aw Holly 😢 it's always such a hard choice to make too. I still cry about my dog we had to put down over two years ago, but I wouldn't trade the 15 years I had with him for anything.
You guys, I am so, so sorry. I also had to put down a pet on the 24th, he was my soulmate kitty. It all happened so fast. I'm right there with y'all & I'll be keeping you in my thoughts ❤❤❤

So sorry about the loss of Holly! I lost my German Shepherd last year and I cried every day for almost 3 months straight, they are family❤️ Also on the cat and lilies story, I knew about the lilies, but I have three outdoor cats and we have lots of perennial lilies outside on our property and have never had issues with that. So I’m doubtful it was the lilies especially if the cat didn’t come in contact with them. It probably had intestinal worms or something.
