Hi Aaron, in your case as an Irish passport holder I wouldn’t bother getting your NIE in Ireland, you may as well just go to Spain and get it there to start your residency process.
Although before that I would visit and explore the employment possibilities, because unemployment is quite high and jobs are thin on the ground at the moment.

    • @youtoospain

First of all are you an EU citizen? If so then you can just move & register as a resident then you get your NIE number as part of that. If you want to buy a property before becoming a resident, then best visit Spain and get the help of a Gestor in Spain to apply for your NIE. Then you can buy property and you’ll have a permanent address to show when you arrive again to register as a resident.

The information I have found so far says you can apply for an NIE whilst in the UK, but this is only for non-residence purposes. For residence purposes you need to apply in Spain. Can you advise? Do we leave that section blank and apply for our NIE’s once we are in Spain or can we make an NIE appointment at the consulate (how much time should we allow for this before arranging our visa appointments at BLS?)? Thank you! Leonie

No you don’t need an address in Spain to get an NIE number, you can get an NIE as a non resident if you want to buy a house or a car for example in Spain. Hi - thanks for the video! I have the forms, I think I have completed them correctly but have a few questions - I wonder if you can help?
I can't find on your website where I check the consulate looking after where I live in the UK - I live in Worcestershire if that helps??
Then the bits I am struggling with are below :-
    - In section 4.2 Motivos - my purpose of application is to enable a property purchase - I am unsure if you would classify this as an economic or social interest if you could please confirm which I should select?
Also, within the documents required I must also do the following - Form 790, code 12, duly completed, and payment of the corresponding fee - I have the following questions on this section if you can help :-
    - I do not have a Spanish address yet (I need the NIE to enable me to buy a property) so do I complete with my UK address?
    - Typically payment is made at a Spanish bank before attending a Police Station - as I am processing my application at the Consulate offices in the UK do I make payment in cash (Euro) at the appointment? Also will I need to attend a Police station also?
I also need to bring to the consulate appointment a document proving residence in the Consular area - I do not yet have a property in Spain so I am unsure what I need to bring with me or do you mean proof of residence here in the UK?
Any help you can give me would be welcomed as I don't want to trek up to Manchester to find I have missed a bit!! Thanks!

Hi Simon, Worcestershire is covered by the Manchester consulate, and yes it’s proof of residency in the UK you need.
Buying a property is an economic motive.
I’ll ask Chris from Upsticks the other questions.

@@sitaylor2003 hi Simon, I have your answers from Chris:
4.2 Depends on the property usage, if it's personal, social reasons and if it's a rental/business property I'd say economic.
      Use a UK address
And payment is taken normally via card at the consulate
