I got a loan for an apartment in Southern Spain. I keep only enough money in my Spanish account to pay my monthly expenses. I am a retired American but I had to show proof of a consistent monthly income to get the loan.

Hi! 3 years on, has much changed with the autonomo? I've got a few questions about registering as autonomo as an online tutor (I have a PhD in physics/biomterials):
I'm Polish, trying to register in Valenica.
    I have already:
NIE (just the number on a paper stamped by the immigration office)
    Padron in Valencia
Private health insurance that covers me in Spain with no co-pays
Spanish bank account (with upwards of 12k eur on it)
    EU passport/ID card
I read that I have to go to the tax office, fill out a 037 form, and then bring documents from the tax office to register with social security. Then I can register as autonomo.
After have all of the documents I listed above plus the registration as an autonomo, will that be enough to become resident here in Valencia, even before I have acquired any income or clients? Or do I need to show that I have already earned money as an autonomo and show that I have a certain lump sum/regular income from my self-employed work? Not sure what financial situation is expected of me.
    Thank you in advance!

    Thank you for this video.
I’m a EU national, from Finland. I moved here in 2020 with my British partner, whose residency application was put on the fast lane (due to Brexit) and mine got left until the offices could receive normal volume of applications.
We moved counties in 2021 and although in Granada, I was told I only needed a ( sufficient deposit in a) Spanish bank account, in Huelva (our new place of residence) my application was rejected due to me not having a proof of work.
Our lawyer said that although it was an unfair outcome, that’s how it is in Spain. Depending on where you are..
We are farmers and our income would be very seasonal / limited. I’m worried about the tax I’d have to pay as autónomo if I register as such.
My partner is retired and we are not married.
Could I still be his beneficiary?
We have enough funds to prove that we can live without sponging the social security ( as the official in Huelva claimed was my intention).
If I could earn up to the limit as autonomo, I’d register as such, but as we are only just starting, I am worried it’s not going to be enough anyway.
Sorry for the long text, I’d be very grateful for any pointers.
(Otherwise, just to keep the algorithm going!)
