How she had just 1 match left reminded me of Little Match Girl by H.C. Andersen. The heat gave her comfort for the last time but same as the fairy tale once the fire was out all hope was lost. Very nice work!

As I am more than proud being apart of a member of the Hiterland community. I can say this is simply amazing
The sudden and abrupt "change" to her enviroment and situation really showed me (in my opinion) what the long dark is really all about. Dealing with something in our life what ever it may be and knowing in our heart we want nothing to do with, yet have to overcome if we want to see the light of the next day. Loved the video!

Been a fan since 2016. This game speaks to my heart. I keep coming back to it again and again. The beautiful sense of purity and calming harmony that you reach in this game through finding your way against all the odds is simply amazing.

Love Love Love this game. I feel that your short absolutely captures the feeling of the game. As hard as your try, not all of your survivors are going to make it.
Yes, I feel like that is the main lesson you learn in the Long Dark. And sometimes a string of small mistakes and a little bad luck is all it takes
the to build a fire reference with the branch with the snow on it was impeccable
When all odds are against you, it shows what one person can achieve and how powerful we can really be.
Reminds me of how the chapter of Episode 2 where Will kills the Old Bear is titled "What One Man Can Do."
The moment I saw the character making a fire under the tree I was like: "No one here has read To Build a Fire"?
Then, boum. Right there on the end credits.
It shows that the slightest slip in that kind of situation can be very unforgiving.
She should have probably spent some of the long snowstorm hours reading Jack London... but as you say, there are so many tiny but fatal mistakes you can make - who knows if it would have saved her

This was great. My headcannon for this is that the character in the video is one of the many corpses you can find in game when exporing. Perhaps i've ran past this very character on my adventures. Well done! And great choice of music.

That's nice to hear. I get that feeling aswell. I guess smaller studios have tighter, and usually better, relationships between the workers, unlike large corporations. Either way i hope everything works out. Maybe i'll see your name in the credits of a game in the future. :D
Reallly well done, tbe ambiance is heavy and the music was spot on.
Got recommended this to me by RUclips, and by goodness, this is such a dramatic animation! I really felt the pain, hope, despair, and acceptance of the character. Really makes me think of all my runs that ended in death in that game. Fantastic work!

Wow, that's amazing. It really captures the despair you can experience in the game and could very well be the story of one of the many dead NPCs we meet on Great Bear.

This was really good. It's a shame she doesn't make it, but this really depicts the harsh world that is the Long Dark, being alone and freezing all the time. Makes me wonder if she started out in Pleasant Valley, because of the passenger plane.

The ending is actually a reference to a Jack London book called to build a fire. in it The main character has his fire snuffed out when the heat rises and causes snow to fall off of a tree above it. After one more desperate attempt to build a fire, he freezes to death. The book is much more interesting than what I have said, and I highly suggest reading it.
