I'm surprised that Mary's blindness isn't mentioned in this video. That was one of the reasons I liked the show. My mom was blind....just from a different reason. I like that the higher ups sent her to a school for the blind...that's what happened to my mom.
My favorite scene from this show was when laura pushed nellie and her wheelchair down a hill, nellie landing in a pond
There is no logical reason to remake this show .
This show had so many morals and life lessons for children to learn, it was just as important as Sesame Street and The Electric Company.
Melissa and her brother Jonathan seem to have connected again as they where both on the 50 year reunion. LHOTP was wonderful show, even if I was not born in the 70s it was my childhood.
I still love this show. But I was disappointed to learn Laura Ingall's books were fictionalized in some aspects.

I remember watching little house when I was young. We would watch the 6 pm news, heehaw then little house, after that im pretty positive Dallas lol then the 10 pm news would come on, by then I was in bed lol to this day I still listen to the Audio Readings of little house. I'm 50 yrs old lol ❤❤
Michael smokes 3-4 packs of Cigs a day and was drinking heavily on the set. Quite the difference of our ideas of his purity.
Michael Landon was actually born Eugene Maurice Orowitz...a name of obvious Jewish heritage. It was VERY common for actors to choose stage names that became their professional names throughout their career. It may be less common today, but it still happens.

I read the entire book series as a little girl. I must have been no more than eight years old. My mom and I used to also watch the show together and she still loves the show. We both want to take a day trip to see the house, which is just a couple hours north of us.

The end was sad though when they had burned their town down because the army came in under these guys orders who claimed they actually owned the land the building and homes Walnut Grove sat on, so they burned it down because they weren't giving them what they built. I didn't blame them but it was really the end and everyone was really old then.

It was called acting for a reason.
Every person that didn't get along with someone on set wasn't getting along with Melissa Gilbert. She had a really big chip on her shoulder. Melissa played a character of a sweet kind little girl. Almost everyone had a problem with Melissa. I acted with Michael Landon on an episode of Highway To Heaven. Michael and Victor French were acouple of great guys. Professional on set but friendly and fun loving off set. We had a great week of filming in the late 80's.
