Really great to have that game on the Prog Seat ! Fun and insightful with tons of new music to listen to thanks to those guys 👍 Very cool to see Jamie here as well.
Thanks gents for an entertaining time In The Prog Seat this week. Similar to Jamie, some albums completely unknown to me but always something new for listening after an episode. Looking forward to the next time the Mystery Elf visits the show.
I went and checked out The Devil's Blood - The Time Of No Time Evermore and I absolutely love it! Just ordered it!!! Great Show! this is cool because I am definitely missing The Homework Assignment Show. Gotta do HVS next!
This was a fun episode. I learned a great deal about bands and music that I would never have heard of before. I have a list of albums and bands to check out!
Thanks everyone for the well wishes, and a huge thank you to Jamie whom brought his usual humor to this show. I gave a brief review as a neophyte to the album and band I was given by Eric Porter, one I loved already in the Mike Kennelly and the other a band called However that I will be sampling someday soon. I loved the Miriodor album, yet liking it more towards a mix of the Canterbury scene mixed with Gentle Giant and Camel with a modern twist. Easily a four and half star album, and looking forward to more from this band. Thank you Eric.
So it took me awhile to get the whole gist of the topic (I know I'm kinda slow) but I love the whole concept of the episode. More of this with Chuck and Luis is something I will look forward to. The only one reviewed I knew was The Devils Blood and yeah man I dig it but I have some new stuff to listen to now. Great episode guys as always!
Great new topic ! My recommendation for the panel is an another Dutch band, an offshoot of The Devils Blood, DOOL. I believe the bassist and drummer went on to DOOL. Check out their 2023 live release "Visions Of Summerland". Excellent heavy dark rock but without the occult.
I only knew the non-prog albums from Horisont and The Devil's blood. Like Ken said a bit too long but really my favorite Horisont album. Love that one. Saw them a couple of times live. Best one was in a really small warm venue. Energetic sweaty Swedes. Gotta love it. Also saw Devil's Blood live a couple of time. Bloody Dutch people. Like their EP debut Come Reap best. Evermore is great but a bit inconsistent.
Fun episode! Jeff Pevar worked with David Crosby - he was the “P” in CPR. He also recorded an excellent acoustic album, From the Core, which includes a very nice song called “River of Dreams” with vocals and lyrics by Jon Anderson.
Is this only episode where Ginger Wildheart isn't recommended to another person? 😂 I am intrigued with the band Devil's Blood. Also the Mystery Elf album programme title had me thinking that it was a lost Dio album that had recently been discovered.
I kinda still feel bad for dropping the ball in this episode. But I guess it still all worked out in the end. And, hey. After busting everyone else's balls, at least I busted my own too. It was well deserved, afterall.
Jamie, for those who watch and see you on SoT regularly, it actually added a bit more entertainment to the episode. Thanks for hosting and please do it again when you can.
Well, I mentioned to Pete that I missed the Album homework assignment series when he did the awards poll.. and now there are 8 guys doing one episode of it.. Great Show! However, the bad thing is that 24 or 25 albums were mentioned and I have never heard or heard of one of them... where to find the time.....
I remember listening to The Devil's Blood after one of Pete's daily shows, Female Fronted Bands possibly. I thought they were really good but, I preferred the other 2 albums by them, especially The Thousandfold Epicentre .
Jeff Pevar is a pretty prolific guitar player, he’s played with a lot f artists over the years, he was also in Tony’s local Woodstock band with Jerry Marotta called Uncle Funk, I seen them play up in Woodstock in 2000.
I enjoyed this though I don't think I had heard many of the albums. I can thoroughly endorse the Espers album to Steven though as 1,2 and 3 are all excellent. Wiki tells me they have a covers album too which I've not heard but should be good.
Thought the show turned out fine. Yeah, it was a bit of a train wreck at the end, but that was fun too. BTW, are you going to list the picks in the comments?
I feel bad for Jamie he brought so much to this and George didn't have to say anything he could have let that slide and no one would have been any the wiser.
George!! Is this like one of those guess the mystery album of each crew member challenges where one hears an album for the first time and try to describe it? @@georgelamie7001 be preppin' for Prog Seat day already )
Everyone gets an album to listen to that they’ve never heard before by a mystery person. They then discuss their impressions of the album they were given and try to guess who gave it to them.
Please expand. I fail to see what's so 'chaotic' about it. Feedback has been pretty positive overall on a brand new concept for this panel, though it's not a new concept for the channel as the Album Homework Assignment show ran for 2 years and was well-liked by the viewership.
I don't understand what's such a mess...a group of people talking about their initial takes on albums that were brand new to them. For a first time doing this concept, we all thought it came out great, and feedback from viewers is mostly positive.
Other than me getting my wires crossed, everyone still talked about a cool little-known album they never heard before. And isn't that the bottom line and point of all of this?

Great idea of show.
Looking forward for more episodes.
They are a great band!😀❤️🎼
Thanks Arnaud, I love that band! Chuck liked them too, but unfortunately couldn’t make the show

Pevar was perfect lead side guy for Crosby live shows I’ve seen!
Ahhhh..okay. Good to know. I didn't connect the dots at all.
That was fun. Good show guys. Definitely going to be checking some of those bands out.
I was howling at Jamie getting all confused at the end, LOL
Great idea. very enjoyable 👍
I just checked out The Devil's Blood. I am getting a transfusion for that asap.!

Hi SOT. This is a question for anyone. What are some progressive rock bands that are more on the rock side, but still progressive?
For the record, L'Ensemble Rayé are Swiss, not French.
Thanks Aymeric!
Show should be called secret Magma... Pete should appreciate that
The Kite
Cool stuff, chaps. Now...is Jamie available for hosting pub quizzes? 🤨🥴😄
"I was given the devil's blood." Shit.

George, what was the name of the album affiliated with punk you could have chosen ? I feel like I could like it.

On tour and when we recorded, without a decent internet connection.

Mystery Elf = Kris Kringle/Secret Santa, like in an American workplace
