Thanks again bicycle guy you provided me with the information. So I ordered part and tool and put it in. It's now buttery smooth. I love my trek even if it's kinda old
@@IKnowAGuyBicycles I ordered the crank puller and with your tip of using a strap to hold the opposing crank I was able to remove the cap screws to the spindle and with a cheater bar (thanks Archimedes) and the the crank puller tool worked perfectly. I am waiting for the cup wrench and hope to remove the BB this weekend. Can you help me find the vintage tool in your video? I subscribe to the ethos of he who dies with the most tools wins. Cheers, Andy
Your info was just what I was looking for. couldn't find anywhere. That bike even has same paint job. Bought in 2019 plus 2800 miles. I bet it should be looked at.
Awesome, thanks for sharing, especially because those got a comeback on ebikes. One question though: Can I shim them (washer on the splined axle) to bring chainrings (and crankarm) more outboard, away from the frame? Shimano changed the standoff by 1mm for their 12-speed groups.
Depending on the bottom bracket, you can shift the spacers. But you shouldn't shim the crank arms out from the BB spindle. Those crank arms must be pressed in entirely so they don't fail.
@@IKnowAGuyBicycles Hey, thank you! And for other viewers: On ebikes with ISIS the chainring spider sits on another spindle. You can shim it independent of the crank arms. 0.5mm is no problem, up to 3mm are doable but you will need a longer lockring.
@@IKnowAGuyBicycles I bought a shiny black $10 one on Amazon that worked perfectly. This is a one time use tool in my opinion so saving a few bucks on the tool can go towards new grips or something.

Glad to help! Have a great ride!
Thanks! This is exactly the guidance I needed to work on my early 2000s Trek 7.5 FX.
Glad it helped! Thank you so much!

Me too. I bought a bike with a broken frame for parts and the crank puller I have doesn't work and I'm looking for the way to pull it.
Really helpful, thanks dude. You should get a dedicated mic, like a Bluetooth mic or something. It should help with the clipping in audio
My newer videos have better sound after June LY, I got mic set, and better lighting.
