  • In this video I tested Behr Marquee, Ultra, and Premium Plus paints from Home Depot to determine which ones had the best coverage and which which gave me the best bang for my buck. During this test I discovered the two biggest mistakes people make when using Behr Paint.

I just painted the interior of a house with all kinds of horrible dark colors. I used the Behr Premium Plus from Home Depot and it worked just fine. I worked very slowly and did it one coat. I can't understand why I am seeing negative reviews for the premium plus.

Thank you for the feedback. I’m adding a navy accent wall to an all white apartment and trying to not overspend.

Been a painting contractor 35 years and is no paint that I know that will cover sharpies in one coat. Typically we use a spray can of primer over those areas prior to painting.

Thank you for the vid. I do have a question. What Behr color did you use? Because Marquis only guarantees one coat on certain colors and they don't have colors called "Agreeable Gray" or "Navajo White" so I'm not sure what you actually used and if it's one of the guaranteed colors or not.

Thank you so much as this video was very helpful. I have been doing a few projects around the house and all that is left is the painting. This has absolutely helped me take into consideration of which paint to use.

Most painters pre-paint any sharpie/stains with Zinsser BIN before rolling.

recently painted my bathroom which had two colors, primed with paint, then used Marquee and I still needed two coats. Not buy Marquee for the rest of the house and will try the Ultra with two coats.

Yep, that's my reality also, Marquee is very sticky, smell like amonia and don't spread evenly, his test was too limited (should be a 1/3 of a wall at least)... can't be trusted.

The fact is that I'm putting 2 coats and maybe a 3rd insurance coat on no matter what paint I use . I can scrape a dried drip off of premium plus , marquee will rip a patch out of the paint if you try that

I mean, it says right on the can that you need to spot cover stains with the Marquee...

I rather pay the $12 more and do 2 coats anyway so I can sand in between. I mean if you just want to sell the house or its a rental sure id stop at the 1 coat.
