Cody Rhodes and Brian Gerwitz is a fued I didn't see coming last year.
This was needed from Cody, Rock has been doing a helluva lot of ‘cooking’ himself recently, and Cody’s response has been a tad anaemic to date. Nice to see Cody bare his teeth a little and give a little back. Raises the stakes once again and has everyone looking forward to the Rock’s response…. Only issue I have is that there’s been little focus on the ‘Roman v Cody’ build. Hopefully on Smackdown that’s given an opportunity to shine through as Rock has dominated this storyline recently.
I hope that Cody brings up that to Roman that the Rock is stealing his spotlight which is partly true. And plants the seeds of jealousy to use down the road for more story opportunities
I still think Seth betrays Cody, and then instead of the bloodline interfering, it’ll be Damien cashing in like Seth did 9 years ago

Cody needed to do this promo, the babyfaces need some sort of fire and we finally got it. Also while they didn't win the Creed Brothers stole the show last night. If they aren't tag champions by the end of the year, I very much see them being it by Next year. The future of WWE's tag division is in some good hands.

People, like Sam Roberts, downplay the feuds Cody can have heading out of Mania.
We all wanna see Cody/ Rock more than Cody/ Roman at this point.
After Roman loses to Cody, Rock can give him a hard time saying,
“You lost to that crybaby?!”
Then Rock can challenge Cody and, right away, you have the most exciting feud of the entire year.
Cody vs. Rock can be his first feud after Mania. That’s huge! And that can start the rift between Rock and Roman that over the course of a year will lead into their match at Mania 41.
Cody then has plenty others to feud with.
Orton, Punk, Drew, Sami, Dirty Dom, Gunther, Damien Priest, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, LA Knight.
To quote Randy Savage, “It’s okay for macho men to show every emotion available, because I’ve cried a thousand times and I’ll cry a thousand more.”
For god's sake WWE needs to move from the PG era for their own good
As much as I agree, but WWE is making record profits year over year with the PG style I find it hard to believe they will move away. However, the Rock and Cody promos makes me think that they are making strategic moves away periodically. 🤷♀

Sami beating Gunther just feels like a complete waste of everything Gunther has done with the IC title. Whoever beats Gunther will be made, and Sami just doesn't need it. He's been IC champ already, he's had his Mania moment last year. It should be somebody new - this should have been Chad's story and he would be MADE with a huge feel-good WM victory. I really hope Gunther retains at Mania, with all the good Triple H has done since taking over as booker, I have a hard time believing he thinks giving it to Sami is the best way to go. Massive, massive waste in my opinion.
I don't think Sammi is winning that match. It'll be a hell of a match, though.
I think they are still cooking because they wouldn’t keep having Chad and Sami continue to interact.

Mania 10 Bret wins title.
Mania 20 Benoit wins title.
Mania 30 Daniel Bryan wins title.
Mania 40 Cody wins title.
It just makes sense

Mania 10 Lex could've won the title
Mania 20 Shawn could've won the title
Mania 30 Batista could've won the title...

@@Koukijacky none of those guys were really underdogs, except maybe DB. Also Bret won his 2nd world title at 10. Chris, his 2nd at 20 (his 4th if his victories over The Rock stood). DB won his 4th at Mania 30

Same scenario with Bryan. I also consider Cody the underdog in his match against Roman since he lost last year. And Roman has beaten everyone and Cody has yet to beat Roman while Roman has a win already over Cody. It’s Cody’s redemption arc right now.

I have wantrd R Truth to have a long title reign with the IC or Heavyweight title for years and years.
Most people who criticize Cody crying haven't experienced losing a parent. When does Cody usually get emotional? When talking about this father. That emotion happens when it happens and there isn't much you can do about it. Cody isn't crying because it's part of his gimmick, it's a raw emotional.
Cody is likely to get beat down on Smackdown this Friday, sustain an "injury" and carry it all the way to Mania, where he will have a super Cody moment and win the title. His best matches have been when he was injured, whether real or for story purposes. I can absolutely see creative going to the well on this one again just to add another layer, and to make the night one loss more believable, because we KNOW that it will be Bloodline Rules.
What I love about Cody and the Rock is that Roman is the third wheel. He doesn't really matter anymore. Yes he has the belt, but who cares? He's the McGuffin to move the plot forward.
I still think Priest is gonna cash in on the winner of the WHC match at WM40. It'd make more sense than him cashing in on the IC championship.

The weird thing in this is that everyone including Seth seems to be getting a bump from the Main Event apart from the actual Champion Roman Regins who is fading a bit into the background.
Personally I think I'm more interested in seeing what Roman does next with the character of a Champion that loses everything than a Cody who achieves his childhood dream. Both are great but I think it opens up so many potentials for Roman.
What if Priest cashes in and takes the belt from Cody, after only holding it for 10 seconds.

Cody has to win it at wrestlemania. He’s getting such a huge push, even allowing him to take like that on raw. Not even Dwayne has been swearing on smackdown from what I know, only on his social media
I think Chad’s venting at Sami, along with the Creed Bros exclusive promo on RUclips, saying they are tired of losing matches but getting “moral victories”.
I really hope this leads to a new faction with Gable and the Creed Bros.
Perfect storm of athletics and charisma, and could also make an interesting story between Gable and the Alpha Academy going forward as he gets more serious.
Don't forget that Drew had/has beef with Damian Priest. So there is a chance that after Drew wins the title against Seth, Priest will cash in his MitB briefcase and win it. I'm down with that.
They really need to build Roman up before Wrestlemania. Right now he's a third wheel in his own story.

I have watched and been a wrestling fan for fourth years and I don't see what everyone is so impressed about Cody
Consistently good promo's, good in the ring, good backstory and is very likeable.

Some people have a charisma that attaches to a certain segment of fans (kids, females, young adults). In a lot of ways, he comes across like a millennial HBK.
When HBK was tearing it up in ‘97, at the time everyone was sick to death of Shawn. Now everyone talks about that period glowingly.
Hell, some people didn’t “get” Austin during his rise. I believe Solomonster talks about it in one of his short videos.
I think it turns off some segments of fans, but he’s got that “it” factor that connects with the kids and female fans. He also wears his emotions on his sleeve like HBK did back in the day.
A combination of smart buildup, drive, and presenting yourself like a star and believing your a star brought him here.
Even if you don’t like him, the man hustles his ass off and you have to respect it.
Im up and down…..sometimes the promos come across too rehearsed, while sometimes I would love to see a full heel version, while still other times I appreciate the fact that a white meat baby face has gotten over.
When he speaks from the heart (not the setup interview with Michael Cole so the rock could roast him: see the buildup last year) he shows how great he could be.
On all points I interesting 🤔
I don't have a strong need for The Rock vs Rhodes right now, but I really hope they don't have The Rock be a spy for a few reasons:
It undermines the brilliant promos they've put out, it makes Cody seem a bit devious when he's super Babyface and I think it's too early to even tease a turn, and it would make it really hard to continue The Bloodline long enough to place those superstars in good places in the aftermath.
Nicholas is 16 now, how many more years until we get to reunite that team?

Not a huge Cody fan by any means but glad he was able to cook last night. The Rock is damn near unwatchable with his 4th grade whose Mom & Dad let him use swear word insults. Rocky has been same the same shit since 2002. Nice to see Cody put him thru tje gulag last night
None of his current stuff has been remotely close to his 2002 stuff. His whole vibe is different because he’s bringing out a whole different character arc for the rock.
All I want to see at Mania is the Awesome Truth win the title with R-Truth getting the win by accident. I love that man!

I am going to be 'that guy' but if one storyline takes up so much time (30 minutes into last Smackdown - no wrestling, and it is a wrestling show...Rock is a better wrestler than singer) it leaves less time for other stories to develop. It didn't need the Rock to take the shine off Reigns. The story was already hot, and Heyman can pick up Reigns lack of verbal communication.
On the plus side, this is the first storyline that has developed on this scale.

I want Drew to become champ and then Seth gets a rematch at SummerSlam. Drew retains. CM punk is number 30 at the royal rumble. Then at wrestlemania 41 punk becomes world heavyweight champion. As for Cody Rhodes, like I keep saying, I want him to finish the story. He wins the WWE title. The credits are about to roll. And then the judgment days music hits, they come down beat the living heck out of him. Priest cashes in and becomes WWE champion. Cody wins and loses the championship in the same night just like his dad. Thanks for the video.

Woke up this morning grabbed my coffee and visited the wwe page and saw so many segments, I was entertained :)

My biggest problem with this is it’s putting Roman on the back burner and making it seem like The Rock is taking the spotlight off of Roman and he’s the Champion. Roman is now a secondary character.

I think it should be a twist as far as the world heavyweight championship is concerned with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre won't no one see this coming no special referee let Drew McIntyre win but then allow Damian priest to cash in his MIT and become world heavyweight champion because Drew McIntyre is not under contract and has not give any hint to if he's going to resign or not.

If Sami wins at Mania, Gable can come out and take credit for adding the extra motivation for Sami to win and tell him it’s all part of the graduate level Alpha Academy program. They could then team up for a week or two, closing the loop with Imperium in a couple of tag matches that culminate with Chad turning heel on Sami. He finishes it by saying “congrats, you’ve graduated the Alpha Academy”, which becomes his catchphrase. He then beats Sami and goes on a nice long run with the belt.
American Nightmare is good. Like really, really good. Top of the heap in the ring, spits hot fire when he needs to, and looks like a million bucks! Time for Roman to go away now for a sec. Ultimately i think the money is having Cody and Punk chasing Logan Paul for the title.
Cody’s high school taunts doesn’t compare to how the Rock’s been roasting him & Seth.

This feels more like Cody vs Rock than Cody and Roman. Not sure if Rock is enhancing the storyline or casting his Hollywood shadow all over this storyline.
The rock continued presense on WWE TV was going to cast the massive holywood shadow over the whole show.
As a French fan, I love Simon, and I'm 90% in agreement with him, but not this time... This time, I agree with Bully Ray from the Busted Open podcast... Or something in that order. That's it... And I love Cody, but this promo was not the one to answer the very good and entertaining rock concert/promotion. It was a mid promo because I didn't see a man agree enough. I have seen the same cody dress, very nice, the uber baby face type, like in the 70s or 80s that's to cleen. Cody on Monday didn't react the way some people react to somebody else insulting your mom, your father, your dog, etc.
And for people who's want to say I'm a hater on Cody absolutely not, I was pissed off when Rock took his place even for 6 days... But this promo isn't deep and passionate enough... He has Raw in 2 weeks, the last before WWE 40. When it is gone, be face-to-face with the rock to take me back to the same level I was just before this past Raw.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Punk join commentary for the Drew/Seth match, if for no other reason than to put some extra heat on his inevitable program with Drew. Obviously he won’t get physically involved, but he doesn’t like either guy so I’m sure he can be a wrench in the works somehow.

This whole LeRae thing is annoying... people complain about the verbal assault, but (as you said) if Maxine didn't approve of it they wouldn't do that. So fair play. Then you have the "attack" this week. How is it an attack? They were in a match!!! It only got stopped because it's a woman's match ... no one would have said anything if one of the guys did that. Just annoying. Let them cook, and enjoy the damn show.
as far as the attack goes, it was a work, just like it was last week. it has nothing to do with it being a women's match. stop making it more than what it really is.
I'd book Solo to win the battle royal, Rock and Roman to beat Cody and Seth, Jimmy beating Jey, the Bloodline causing Seth to lose the title, just total dominance. The cards will be stacked against Cody then the "avengers" thing we've been talking about can happen taking out the bloodline, we have a one on one and Cody wins 🏆
I agree with everything except the jimmy beating jey part....it would be different if jimmy never screwed jey out of three title matches....and they just decided to have a match...but jimmy has embarrassed and had the upper hand since the beginning.....we all know jey beating jimmy....he got to finally get his revenge from everything jimmy did to him

I must have been the only one with enough sense to skip the Rocks stupid concert. It's so dumb that people think it's good just because it's the Rock. Anyone else doing lame crap like that would be called cringe. Which is what it is anyway.
Nah, that concert was great. Sure, you can call some of the jokes the rock makes a little uncreative, but he delivers them in a charismatic charm. I liked how, in the end, he delivered the Moana reference as a punchline.
It was the first thing I liked of Dwayne since his return. I didn't like his style of delivering promo's so to have it done in a fun way is nice.
Think about the last couple of years for Dwayne:
He’s kicked out of the DC universe, all the while thinking he and his juvenile writer were going to run everything
He’s kicked native Hawaiians out of their homeland, while he and Oprah profit off of the devastation
The XFL failed again
He’s reduced to making a live action Moana (he pissed slot of people off in Hollywood)
Then he comes back to the one audience he thought he could count on. He had no idea what was going on with storylines. WM 40 was already going to break every record, so why not try to insert yourself into the main event like you did 10 years ago (by the way, look up how many muscles the man tore in one match with Cena)
His video is the most disliked one in the history of wwe by a margin of hundreds of thousands AND his daughter receives death threats.
How else would you respond? What you see in those Instagram posts is a massively bruised ego. Let anyone on the roster drop F’bombs and watch how people respond….Ivar could be main eventing lol

cody promo vs the rocks promo. shows exactly why the rock is better. When the rock drops a cuss its either funny or fits naturally. when cody did it. It was "ooh look he dropped a cuss word and that was the pop" its lame and the wrong way to use cuss words. I want cody to win the title just so we can get the participation award out of the way end the underdog story and watch the fake fans move on from cody. the fans eventually always turn on cody. Fans turned on him in AEW and it will happen here too. Cody aint that guy.
