But it has to be incredibly difficult or else Shang would be way too broken. Shang is fun as zoning though lol
13:30 I feel like everyone has forgotten ermac being absolutely broken on MK X launch. Like legitimately broken, meter fills with levitation. It was insanity
I remember him gaining a meter instantly with levitation, but I... think it was locked behind Spectral? And in the early days, Ermac players were all in on Master of Souls and Mystic.
I'm surprised that Kitana's fan-wave wasn't picked for MKII, considering it's one of the few times an arcade game had to get rebalanced during revisions.
Legit one of the most broken moves in ANY fighting game Like there's moves that play neutral for you but rarely is one almost 100% of any given time unavoidable AND unblockable, follow-uppable at any situation (you can hit strings even after hitting an opponent all the way from the other side of the screen, no kidding, check UnderDawg's video on the move) and instantly full screen And DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE STARTUP, it could be 5x slower and IT WOULD STILL BE BROKEN
In the Game boy Advance version of deadly alliance, the Frost's slide attack could be chained into itself and become a (extremely easy to perform. In fact. one of the easiest infinite ever existed in a fighting game) true infinite. It was Super OP.
Just a simple matter of opinion, I am more or less retired but for UMK3, I think it's valid statement to say that Kabal is number one in the game; however, he loses HSmoke & Ermac matchups at least 20-80. Most of his options are invalidated by these two ninjas as I've demonstrated in the past. Instant airs don't matter to those two ninjas.
Rain's lightning move in MKT was pretty broken. It had a simple input (i think it was b,b+lp), came out quickly, and juggled the opponent. It got me through most of the ladder.
You should do bottom tier characters with broken tools. Maybe characters that can’t use them well enough due to the meta. Or characters that were nerfed the hardest in any given game.
They've covered Scorpion in Injustice going from broken to bottom 1 and mentioned that Sub in MK9 was made useless because of the nerf to (i think) ice puddle.
@@llSuperSnivyll sheeva mk9 has some really fucked up setups and tech. she is the worst in the game. i mean like ONE tool that is strong but isnt enough to save the character. there are plenty of fighting games with bottom tier characters that have one strong aspect about them but cant really use it against players who know how to deal with it.
In Vancouver, we seemed to get some really early (probably test) versions of MK 2 & 3. The first place I saw MK2 had a bug that allowed you to do the first half of Sub Zero's fatality during a match. It was unblockable and you didn't unfreeze. Once you had a life lead, all you had to do was land the freeze and win. Arcade inside Metrotown had the first MK3 in town, and it was also clearly a test copy. It had a revision happen to it seemingly every week. An early version of Shiva's stomp was a lot faster, extremely hard to avoid, and unblockable. If you got a knockdown with her, you could start spamming it and it would connect as an opponent stood up but before they could possibly do anything. I beat the game on the hardest difficulty just flicking the stick up and down (no other moves.) Luckily that was fixed the next time I went there (I worked in the mall, was there every day), and is probably why she is notoriously terrible.
I think Sheeva dragon stance and stomp prepatch were some of if not the most broken specials in 11. She got stomp setups off her amp fireball in the dragon stance, and back then dragon stance jailed off her block strings, so she got a bunch of chip damage and pushback on block. It made her really oppressive. She could cancel dragon stance for free too, and for some characters they had no counterplay to stomp depending on their walk/dash speed.
@@otaking3582 yeah I’m surprised they didn’t mention sheeva prepatch tbh. I know they said before they personally didn’t think stomp was that broken(at least at high level) but I thought with stomp AND dragon stance Sheeva as a whole was busted af when customs first came out.

I would have picked nomad dash for mk9. Plus frame cancels, meter build, combo optimization, flash parry with ex nomad dash which is a SAFE, armored, plus frame string for one bar.
In mortal kombat vs DC I found a guaranteed trick to counter the flash years ago. Scorpion has a move where he engulfs himself in flames and stands still. Well if you hold down the button to do this special move he will in fact stay on fire and can only be countered by projectiles. I realized flash has no projectiles and when he does his dash attack he cannot penetrate the fire aura around scorpion thus rendering him completely useless.
Drill Kick with Tanya in 4 doesn't need a combo to go max damage; I've done it. It's super broken and 7 or 8 of those and you get hit with that max damage repel.
I mained Jade and just hoped that her anti air projectiles would render "flying" Jacqui, Kabal, and Joker grounded and that those copiers then had no gameplan once it became a no fly zone. I would spam anti airs and not feel one bit bad about it under those circumstances.
To be more accurate on crystalline , it is possible by quick strings like scorp and Kano 11. The second hit hits tremor before he recovered from the set animation
Rains kick in ultimate mortal kombat that kicks opponents across the screen was pretty broken... Once i land that lightning strike then that water ball followed by a kick it turns into an infinite combo
I love the vid but I gotta say as someone who is not really knowledgeable on mk11 you didn't really explain what the move did. I get that it breaks mechanics but the move itself was not explained. Kabal’s gas dash in MK11 might be worse cause it’s completely meterless and just leads to game breaking pressure that we hadn’t seen in so long, even with Jacqui being top 5 the entirety of 11
These sorts of videos always make me think of the Game Gear ports and what I think of them in such a regard. If you were to have listed the handheld versions as separate entities, absolutely I think Jax's Gotcha Grab would win out for MKII. In that version at least, it was absolutely an infinite. Once you land one of them, you have the match in the bag, since you drop the opponent at your feet after, and as they get up you can do the movements again, and catch them just as they stand up. Hey guys. I am enjoying your content for a long time. I was wondering if you are interested in competitive history of Injustice 1/2 or similar themes like this video for those games.
I would argue that kano ball is a much more broken kameo move in mk1. It has a fast recharge, keeps everything safe, on hit it pushes you back full screen. On block it takes has you lose your turn. You can armor through it sure, but in most cases your opponent has recovered and is blocking again
I would have put Noob's ghost ball for UMK3 IF he was playable in all versions of the game. He's only playable without a code in the Sega Genesis version and the duration of the move was EVEN LONGER. Let me tell you my sister and I had to ban him in the household. Trilogy lowered the duration no matter how broken it was.
MK OG here, you can't do mileenas daggers in rapid succession like that in MKII (on the actual console atleast) without having an assist controller. It requires full 3 seconds of charging high punch. Not even 2.9 seconds, full 3 seconds everytime. You can rapid fire it like you are showing only with the assist controller. I had one back in the day!
