I have used your video for guidance for 2 years now. I've been picking blackberries for over a week and am going to make a bunch of jam tomorrow. Thank you for all the help.
I wish I'd seen this earlier when our blackberries were coming in so well. I will watch this again next year and follow along and make some blackberry jam! Yummy! Thank you for sharing your recipe and process!
Yes. This is a very easy recipe to follow and it really doesn't take that long to make. It actually takes more time to pick all the blackberries! Let me know how it turns out for you.
So i was so excited to watch this video , I said finally someone is going to explain the amount of pectin tablespoons for this recipe but 👎🏻 nope . Just as so many you tube videos no one ever explains pectin they either just dump a packet not explaining how many tablespoons for those of us who have the loose jars of pectin or they say nothing just saying we put in the pectin i give up 😢
Hello Cindy, Sorry about that. We try very hard to be as informative as possible on our channel. For this recipe we used one packet that is 1.75oz or 49grams. I hope this helps!
@@GagneFarms dont mind me i wrote that after picking veggies in this 100 deg heat and i was hangry and hot. Thank you for the info very much and sorry for being rude ❤️❤️
@@Cindy-ng6sx no problem at all I completely understand! I hope you had a great harvest of veggies in the garden! Stay hydrated while you are out there, it is super hot out here as well!

Thank you very much. It's really not to bad to make. I think anyone can make a good jam! 👍
You can add a pat of butter it will help with the foam.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that. I have done that before and it sure does help out a lot!

I use 6 TBL when recipe calls for a packet. Sometimes 5 TBL works

No problem Scarlett! I am glad we could help!
very good presentation
Thanks a lot, we appreciate it!
Hey just came over from MT Homestead. I am now following you.
Thank you so much! We appreciate it.
I need to do seedless jam
Just run your berries through a food mill with the fine screen and use the same recipe, it will work great! 😋
Good informant video
Well Thank you very much Carolyn!
how much pectin per crushed cup and sugar
We used 5 cups of berries, 6 cups of sugar, and 1 packet 1.75oz of pectin. Thank you for the question.
I make wine. Do you need to sanitize the ladle like you would any equiplent touchine wine? If so would star san sanitizer be ok to spray ladel with?
You can use Star San if you prefer. I use that while brewing beer.
I am jellous! I ate most of mine so can only can up 3 jars 😩 but don in law is still happy to get these 3 jars
That's awesome congrats. Now you just need to pick more next year lol!
What about the blackberry seeds which I have a lot of in finished jam.?
I just leave them in and eat them. You could run it through a food mill to strain the seeds out if you want to.
No lemon juice?
Reciept please
Can u use corn starch instead?
I don't think corn starch would be a good substitute. I would recommend using the pectin.
@@GagneFarms I saw tapioca works also, thanks for the replies😊
How much pectin?
For this recipe we used one packet that is 1.75oz or 49grams. I hope this helps!
What is the purpose of putting the canned jam back into the boiling water bath?
That is to get a good seal on the jars.
It appears that you didn't heat the jars or the lids.
We did heat the jars with hot water but not the lids. Ball doesn't suggest that you need to heat lids anymore.
Where's the list of ingredients & measures??
I believe that they are stated within the video.
