- Air India has a tradition of naming all their aircraft. Let’s take a closer look at all the names given, and what the theme and thought process behind it is. We will also talk about how this widely used tradition of naming airplanes came in to being.
In this two part video series, I will talk about the airplanes that were in the Air India Fleet right from their Lockheed Constellations to their swanky Dreamliners.
In a nutshell, each aircraft type is given a theme and category based on which an aircraft name is picked. I hope you enjoy this informational video, do share your thoughts and comments below. If you liked this video, do subscribe to my channel for more content.

Saif, last time I had watched this video in a rush, now I watched it at ease, then watched it over and over again. My congratulations to you for coming up with such wonderful content. Your entire video is amazing, I liked the starting with Agra (VT EVA), an aircraft that has a special place in my heart. Now we know why the polished underbelly was painted and never returned back. Your information on Constellations, Super Connies, 707s and their pictures was a visual feast. Very few people understand the kind of effort and research that would have gone in making of this 6:46 min video and i wish that you always stay motivated to bring up such wonderful videos. I will now eagerly wait to know why we don't see any names on the Dreamliners. Best regards. Arpan
Hello Mr Apran! Wow. Thank you so much for your extremely kind words. And more importantly thank you for appreciating the hard work that goes into the research work behind the historic fleet. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I can’t wait for you to see part two soon. Good day 😊
Thanks for making this video as many are unaware of the history of Air India aircraft fleet and their names.
👍
Thank you 😊
Looking forward for part 2. Thanks.
Soon! 😊
Good info and collection of pics, very well compiled. Great job Saif.
Thank you Paras 😊
Excellent work. Passangers used to relate with particular Named aircraft they travelled in.
The all white livery was working out be expensive as stickers on tail used to peel off and were to be replaced each time. The jharokha design was very distinctive in a crowded airport.
Thank you so much! The polished underbelly was an absolute delight to look at. Saw the last few 747-400s in the old livery during my teenage years. Miss them thoroughly. Of course the jharoka windows look stunning 😊
Great information.
Keep it up
Thank you 😊
Awesome video! Looking forward to part 2

Great stuff! Really loved those Lockheed Constellation pictures. I wish Gemini or Inflight would come out with AI Constellation models (1:200 scale) very soon.
Thank you so much. We might be getting a 1:200 constellation soon 😁

Great video... A-320 family aircrafts are the ones which are unnamed...
Thank you! That’s right. The 320 family is not named 😊
I flew in Boeing 747-300 named Shivaji in Year 2008 . I went into to cockpit also . It was just amazing .
Oh wow!
Sir still awaiting for part 2!
Coming soon!!
Ah! That's easy the aircrafts you fly..... The 787 Dreamliners in the air India fleet don't bear a name..😁😁
Hahah that’s correct! A lot many more missed the naming tradition, including the Tristars, the 330s, the 767s and of course the A320s 😄
@@SaifTinwala oops...forgot 😁😁 cuz.... But you gave too many spoilers 🤭🤭
Hahah it’s ok 👍🏼 sharing information is fun 😄

Those airplanes operated as ‘Tata Airlines’ and were not given any name. The tradition began with the Constellation.
