- since the start of 2022, several airlines especially north American ones, are expanding their routes to India. after the pandemic, airlines like Air Canada, American, united, and air India have all announced new routes connecting north America to major Indian cities.
well, there are a few factors contributing to this expansion to India, but the major one is simply demand. as more and more people are getting accessibility, and affordability to air travel the number of passengers in Indian aviation is increasing every day. low-cost carriers and more airports in secondary cities have led to more people traveling through flights and have unlocked a new market for Indian aviation.

One of the key reasons for this is growing number of Expats outside India. The brain drain has finally paid off with better aviation market.
It will never be paid off. Unfortunately we contribute billions of dollars worth of value abroad .:(
We can't deny brain drain but India is soo massive that brain drain isn't affecting now but as GoI along with companies working to build infrastructure to consume those brains in India ....hope in 2-3 decades everything will be settle

Hyderabad-Chicago did exist in the covid times I feel Air India should resume the route for the increasing travel demand to the US and Canada from Hyderabad once their new planes come….. and Hyderabad-Melbourne/ Sydney would be a great source of Income for Air India

North American Airlines will be unprofitable as they are banned to fly over Russia on reciprocal basis…so they cannot use the shortest route to India through the North Pole. But the Indian airlines can since they can fly over Russia :)
This is really a great opportunity for air india. And I guess they'll be announcing more routes to North America as soon as their new plane arrives, which may be next year.

I have flown between the US and India many times on many airlines for over 30 years and not once did we cross Russia.

Air India recently announced to connect India non-stop to every major city in the world soon, with 470 planes ordered and options for 370 more (reportedly).

People in Indian , Singapore, and uae can now make seamless easy mobile payments in each country it's like a big single nation in Asia nowadays , and with extreme endpoint connectivity i think these countries will be more connected and act more in each other's intrest due to connected interests this , is the way to future a big ass federation like nation

A small hidden reason is the construction of airports in India. 74 airports till 2014 and 137 total in 2023 and growing.

The current sunrise for Indian aviation has been preceded by multiple failures including Kingfisher, Jet Airways etc. They saw early potential, but struck out too early. If they had stuck out for that bit longer, things would have turned around for them. This speaks to the importance of financing and liquidity during times of stress. A strong airline industry can only exist with the help of a deep and liquid financing market.
Air India has a huge opportunity in NA and EU. I previously took Emirates but now since Tata took over I will fly Air India. Air India should rapidly start NA routes with 787

I would not place all my hopes on Air India. Let the market be open to multiple carrier and may the best one win. I hope the winner will be an Indian carrier. I feel sorry that Kingfisher could not be there to take advantage.
There is so much unused potential in the tourism sector in India. As the infrastructure is improved and tourism picks up, there will be a huge increase in domestic and international flights to these tourist destinations.

I have told Hon. PM to target no of Airports to 500 by 2032 as Airports are quicker to build than an entire expressway and aviation is quickest mode of transportation.

Hope all this will lead to better rates and better services. I am tied into Air India, but the quality of service of Air India has deteriorated so bad that I am wondering if I could keep my loyalty any more. Hope Tata will bring in new planes and improve the service.

There are few routes to united states from india you can get many options from Delhi like non stop flights to Chicago New York san Francisco and from mumbai only 2 routes and from bengaluru only 1 routes. Even united and American back to india
For Canada's case, Indian immigrants have drastically increased and now composes majority of Asian ethnic influx in the last 5 years year over year(students & skilled).
The need for service & demand is there now.
It also makes sense as India is an untapped market with such a large population.

In my opinion,at least 10 crores people have ablity to move, because of their financial ability, to a distance around 3000km radius from India. In any sense, this number is too big that any airlines can't ignore
I remember here the only indian flight between san francisco and mumbai by air india in 2003 and it was eulogized in lot of indian movies then.

Someone needs to leverage on this positive development and explore options to expand the MRO industry in India. Indian airports can be the hub for aviation MROs activities, there are good money to be made in that sector.

Few days back Air india signed Aggrement for biggest deal of 470 aircrafts improving the much needed connectivity
Edit: 500 aircrafts - out of which they will acquire 470 and will take 30 more on lease.
Deal is worth US$ 100 BILLION and for 540 aircrafts if options for 70 aircrafts are included !

We are a ton of people wanting to travel all over the world and we have very limited options when it comes to flights to US, Europe, Australia, NZ, parts of africa etc.. Middle east and South East Asia are the only places well connected. Therefore, we need a lot of airlines opening up their routes to Indian airports and providing excellent service as well... Govt. of India, please don't screw it up with your bureaucracy.

Half of the demand is from the Indian diaspora itself.. There are over 6 million NRI's in North America alone..
The simple reason is that there were far too few direct flights to India! All they are doing is catching up with demand.
